Intentionally Ironic? Or Boastful?
The article states the following:
- Records obtained by FOX 32 and the Better Government Association show that in June of 2011, the owner of that property, wealthy businessman Narendra Patel, gave it away for free to Benton Cook III. Cook is Dorothy Brown's husband. "It's our personal business. It has nothing to do with politics," Cook says. "It has nothing to do with the public."
According to records, one month after getting the free property, Cook added Dorothy Brown's name to the deed.
Two months after that, Brown and her husband transferred the deed to Sankofa, LLC. -- a for-profit company they run out of their South Side home.
Finally, in November 2012, Sankofa sold the property to a private developer for an even $100,000.
An amusing comment about the situation:
- Hmmm, the linked article says that Dorothy's husband gets the property for free from a rich Indian businessman/campaign contributor. One month later, Dorothy's husband puts Dorothy's name on the property title. Two months later, Dorothy and husband transfer the property to their very own for-profit company "Sankofa", which is an African proverb that means, "reach back and get it."
And the link defining "sankofa:"
- Sankofa can mean either the word in the Akan language of Ghana that translates in English to "reach back and get it"
How very ... "Chicago-ese" of a word choice. Not only does she use her office to further enrich herself, giving lie to the very definition of "public servant," she rubs everyone's face in it with the name of the company. Hubris, eh?

Having run for office multiple times and having been at debates involving Dorthy Brown, everyone should know that she is not classy. She is proud to say that she's from a big family of poor folks from the south while wearing a $2,000.00 outfit.

There's a whole slew of Jesse Jackson people who are waiting for their ship to come in out by the proposed airport in Peotone.
The day that airport was dreamed up in some crooked politicians head, JJ, JJ Jr, and a whole bunch of their friends and family bought all of the farmland all around that entire area, figuring they'd cash in on the windfall of quadrupling their investments selling the land back to the government for the airport. This is why, after so many experts have said the airport IS NOT NEEDED, the idea never seems to go away, because without that airport, those crooked pols own nothing but grazing land for dairy cows.
I have always hated Daley, but I love that he fucked over the downstate rube politicians who tried to seize control of O'Hare Airport away from the City, by creating a regional Airport Authority that would have included O'Hare, Midway and Peotone. Before they could do that (and grab some of Daley's slush fund coming from airport concessions), Daley created his own regional airport authority of O'Hare, Midway and Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY). Creating THAT airport authority was sort of like putting the airports in a "trust fund", and kept an UN-BUILT Peotone airport out of the question.That hasn't stopped the crooked pols from wasting millions of tax payer dollars on the scam anyway.
That is also why Daley pushed to build that new runway at O'Hare. By doing so, O'Hare was being upgraded and modernized to handle more and more flights making it even LES NECESSARY to build the Peotone graft palace...
It was a group of wealthy Indian businessmen that were in the middle of the Rod Blagojoyavich and Jesse Jackson saga. What is interesting is that these Indians are in the middle of it and yet not a single one of them get charged.

When you have people like Dorothy Brown in office, you have two groups of people to blame. The democratic party for slating such a person and the voters for voting straight democratic. And, while we are on the subject, lets add the republicans for not fielding any quality candidates for office. But, as John Kass has been saying for years, the Illinois Combine stands to gain way too much when they stick together and avoid any real political fights. Anyone who has ever gone to the County courts clerks office to pull records really knows what a backwards, totally inefficient cesspool of patronage that office is. Probably one of the worst for any city in the country.
Heard just yesterday that "big" al sanchez (caps deleted) is filing papers to run for "hog nuts" Crook County Board seat. Can we sink any lower.

Don't make this a racial issue, this is political corruption and that crosses every race and gender boundary know to taxpayers. Everyone of these politicians need to be ousted with a vast majority imprisoned.

Dorothy Brown makes me yearn for the days when Aurelia Pucinski or Morgan Finley ran the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Brown cannot even keep the files in good order or deliver the file folders to the correct court rooms. Her office is a patronage boondoggle.
Just curious about this rich Indian businessman? Why would anyone donate over $50,000 to the campaign for a Cook County Clerk? Does the Clerk really wield so much power that rich people want to donate so much money to their campaign?

Quinn is done??? Brady carried 98 counties in 2010, and the African American vote in the Chicago area and East St. Louis still gave Quinn the election by over thirty thousand votes. Throw in the north shore liberals and Q-man still squeaks by!

1) MB was investigated and absolved of any improprieties (never printed by any local newspapers)
2) DB should be investigated
3) SJ and JJ jr got convicted
4) stop citing wikipedia as a news source

Moseley Braun was not investigated fully, and by far, never "absolved."
Several different agencies sought broader investigations, requested them, and were always hampered by budget and resource problems or a bureaucracy intentionally stalling itself because the politicians never design their own oversight apparatus without plenty of escape clauses.
Start with her mother staying at a nursing home in Chicago meant for the poor. CarMoseB had to reveal that her mother owned enough property in Alabama that she netted royalty checks in the thousands a month from lumber harvesting rights. She only paid back 15 grand and Medicare opted not to pursue a broader investigation stating it would take too long.
She then doled out high paying positions at her Ck. Co. recorder of deeds position on her way out to her Senate job as rewards to people who paid enough to her campaign fund.
The FEC was never satisfied with all her personal use of $250,000 in campaign funds but deferred to DOJ, which declined the request to investigate.
DOJ also declined a request from the IRS after MoseleyBraun reinstated revised disclosures and statements to alter the appearance of where all the money went...
5 years of actual investigations didn't absolve her, they ended up stone-walled due to her status as the nation's first Af-Am female in the U.S. Senate and the only Af-Am in the Senate for her entire term... she basically said, "I dare you."
Then there's all the dealings with the Nigerian military dictator that lined her husband's pockets in spite of complaints from her own party's state Dept. and the Cong. Black Caucus.
Savvy, but dirty...
Why? cuz she knows how to play. she was a U.S attorney, and a Chicago Politician.
