Harvey Cops Wounded
- Two police officers have been shot in south suburban Harvey and two suspects are holding a woman and five children hostage at the scene this afternoon, officials said.
Harvey Mayor Eric Kellogg said one officer suffered a graze wound to the arm and was treated at the scene. The other officer was wounded in the elbow and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, the mayor said.
Best wishes to the injured Officers. City or suburbs, something can blow up in a second. Stay safe.

The witness stated, "the offenders kept asking, where id's the $50,0000?"...sounds like the victims in this house are not so innocent.
PS....The City of Harvey is worst than Chicago and just as corrupt.
Prayers for the Police and the Innocents.
I hope you can talk the bad guys all out safely.

Yeah, the toddlers are really bad guys.
Drone air strike will suffice.
Thank god for sheriff Dart. Thank you, thank you, you are the best. You saved those people and all of Harvey.
My hero.
What a tool!
Dear media, there is no "militarization" of police.
The police departments had the opportunity to purchase surplus military equipment such as armored vehicles.
These vehicles are not tanks, they are unarmed.
Officers carry their personal weapons in them when deployed. The vehicles are used for officer safety and possible rescue of victims in violent situations.
These vehicles were not, by my understanding, brought back from overseas with the intent on selling them to police agencies. They were determined to be surplus or obsolete later. When sold to local agencies it is often for a small price. Cheaper then buying a armored vehicle from manufactures of civilian armored vehicles. This saves tax dollars.
These armored vehicles are not used in day to day operations, they do not patrol the streets randomly.
They are used in emergencies.
As for Helmets, vests, rifles, shotguns, etc. these are all weapons used for defense. Law enforcement personnel DO NOT have to wait to be fired upon; the act of having a gun in hand is often enough to authorize the use of deadly force.
Officers DO NOT have to allow themselves to be injured before acting. If officers tell citizens to clear a road or not block a sidewalk, it is not debatable on the scene.
Citizens can apply for permits to close roads Prior to the event, or argue their case in court if arrested.
If the citizens don't like a law being enforced then they should go to their elected officials to address the issue.
Stay safe, and watch your six!
It over all ok, did you see dart in a vest on the news what a tool
Have no fear! Our pretend Sheriff, 19th Ward political hack Tom Dart is on the scene. He'll offer them a basket of puppies to come out. He's running from camera to camera posing as what he's not! A lawman.
Update, officers are ok. Bad guys in custody, victims saved. Superman Tom Dart saved the day....
to the harvey police officer my prayers are with you , get well brother
Two cops shot and the news is blathering that the incident was concluded without any violence? Huh?
Dart looked like a homeless person! "Crook County" at its best!
Dart was on TV, said no Gacy bodies found at scene.
I never paid attention to his camera clawing but always heard guys here talking about it. Well sure as the sun rises I woke up and checked on the status of the stand off and see the ol' sheriff FOR THE FIRST TIME snatching up all the credit for resolving the situation. No words for the two officers in Harvey. No mention of the SSERT guys called out. He thanked in this order: his agency, ISP and the local departments that assisted. I'm no Kellogg fan but if there ever was a time to grab the microphone and take over it was this morning. Dart used a lot of "We's" to not be out there.
H eard Harvey cop suffered awound which did a lot of damage to his arm, elbow.
Media sloughs ot off. Would be interested to know when and if he returns to duty.

The media downplayed the seriousness of one of the cop's injuries because that was the information they were given. After the incident, Channel 7 reported on this--that the police didn't want the offenders to know the seriousness of the injuries sustained in the shootout. That's why the initial reporting was wrong, but that news organization at least explained that later, and did report that the officer was much more severely injured than originally aired.
