And now he's going to get deposed under oath:

• A federal judge has refused to dismiss a whistleblower lawsuit filed by a former Markham police officer who claims she was fired after reporting that the city’s police chief ordered her to release a convicted murderer she arrested after allegedly finding a loaded handgun in his car during a traffic stop.

  The ruling allows former Markham patrol officer Kayla Heller to continue pursuing claims that Police Chief Jack Genius and the City of Markham retaliated against her after she reported the incident to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Illinois State Police.

  The lawsuit stems from an incident first reported by CWB Chicago in December 2025, when we revealed that Heller had been fired shortly after we asked Genius why he ordered her to release convicted felon and current U.S. Senate candidate Tyrone Muhammad without charges.

  In a 14-page order issued Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Franklin Valderrama denied the defendants’ request to throw out the lawsuit, finding that Heller had presented enough of a case for her claims to move forward to discovery.

You think CPD is political, these small towns are thousands of times worse. We would hope she scores a few million dollars, but it's Markham, which is always teetering on the brink of insolvency anyway.

But she could get damages against Genius since he's obviously acting outside of his governmental authority here. Maybe he has a nice house. 

Naperville Did What???

They arrested their way out of a situation?

• Nine people were arrested and nearly three dozen citations were issued after large groups of mostly teens gathered in downtown Naperville on Monday evening.

  The gathering began around 5 p.m. June 1 along the Washington Street corridor between Chicago and Van Buren avenues. Anticipating large crowds, the Naperville Police Department deployed multiple teams of officers throughout the downtown area to deter criminal activity and maintain public safety.

  Five juveniles were arrested during the event. Charges included battery, assault, obstructing identification, criminal trespass to state-supported land, illegal possession of cannabis, illegal possession of tobacco by a minor, disobeying a peace officer and interfering with a peace officer.

Golly, if word of this gets out, it could completely revamp policing as we know it!

Suburban school "oops:"

• A person of interest is in custody after a resource officer misplaced his gun while using the bathroom at a northwest suburban school Monday afternoon, leading to the cancellation of classes on Tuesday.

  According to Arlington Heights police, the incident unfolded just prior to school dismissal at Forest View Educational Center, located in the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights.

  Police say the school resource officer removed his firearm from his duty holster while using the restroom, but realized the gun was missing shortly after students were dismissed for the day.

  The resource officer searched the restroom for the gun, but did not locate it and contacted authorities to help in the search.

The gun wasn't located that day, but a review of security footage has led to an arrest of a "person of interest."

Any bets if Porkulous and Kwame will insist on more gun restrictions because Indiana has looser laws that enable gun running over the border?

Cicero Cops Injured

Chasing a burglary crew:

• A four-vehicle crash during an early morning police chase in Chicago's west suburbs left five people injured, including two officers.

  The crash happened around 4:49 a.m. Monday at Roosevelt Road and Cicero Avenue in Cicero, according to town officials.

  "We along with other municipalities have had issues with gaming café burglaries in the early morning hours," said Cicero Police Superintendent Thomas Boyle. "That morning our department was looking for those individuals committing that type of offenses."

The police clipped the back end of a turning semi. They should be okay after some time recovering.

But this piqued our curiosity:

• As officers approached, the driver fled, jumping a curb and heading north on Cicero Avenue. Police then tried to catch up to deploy a tracking device.

  "They then attempted to get behind the vehicle to place a tracker called StarChase, and in the course of that, the collision occurred," Boyle said.

We had seen this a while back but didn't realize it was in service anywhere locally. Here's the link to the company. It looks like a GPS tracker embedded in a big sticky ball of snot that's launched at a suspect vehicle and broadcasts its location. When does CPD get to pilot this?

Next step - an embedded Taser-type device that fries in-car electronics, eliminating all pursuits?

• A 20-year-old man was arrested Thursday on a search warrant that prompted a shelter-in-place order for nearly an hour in parts of northwest suburban Lake in the Hills, authorities said.

  A joint investigation into "illegal activity" led to the arrest of 20-year-old Joel Fernandez of Lake in the Hills on Tuesday, authorities said.

  [...] He is charged with four counts of possession of ammunition without a valid FOID card on person.  

SWAT call out. Shelter in place order. Illegal activity.

• A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges that Fernandez knowingly possessed – without a valid FOID card – 20 cartridges of .45 Auto Sellier & Bellot branded full metal jacket (FMJ), 13 cartridges of .223 Remington branded steel core FMJ, one cartridge of 9mm Blazer Brass branded FMJ, one cartridge of 9mm Remington-Peters branded FMJ, one cartridge of 9mm Speer branded jacketed hollow point (JHP), and two cartridges of 9mm Sig Sauer branded JHP.

Um....thirty-eight rounds of ammo? That's it? A SWAT call out and a neighborhood lock down...for thirty-eight rounds?

• The complaint did not mention whether Fernandez possessed firearms.

You've got to be f#$%ing kidding. Thirty-eight rounds and no firearm. 

So what was the actual danger?

How does DuPage manage to keep violent offenders in custody?

• The 19-year-old Westmont man charged with murdering a 30-year-old pregnant woman in Downers Grove on Monday will remain in custody as he awaits trail.

  DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden denied pretrial release for Nedas Revuckas during a hearing Thursday morning. Revuckas is charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing Eliza Morales 70 times, mostly in the head and neck, and then setting her apartment on fire over an online sale gone wrong, according to prosecutors. Eliza, who was five months pregnant, leaves behind her husband and toddler, both of whom were not home at the time of the incident.

It's not like the offender was a habitual criminal:

• Revuckas has no prior criminal background, worked as a painter and complied with police. But Dieden said that if he was released and placed on home confinement, the entire community would be in danger.

But somehow, they managed to keep him in jail.

It's odd to say the least.

• The Maryville woman who died after being shot by an Illinois State Police trooper is being remembered by her family as a “devoted mother.” Rachel E. Tarrence, 40, died on Jan. 4 after she struck an ISP squad car in East St. Louis and then drove toward a trooper who shot her, authorities said. A spokesperson for Illinois State Police said Monday the investigation into Tarrence’s death is still ongoing.

• DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. - A judge has ordered a suburban Chicago man to remain in custody after police reportedly found a loaded gun during a traffic stop in Naperville over the weekend.

  Prosecutors said 30-year-old Deion Kidd, a convicted felon from Plainfield, appeared in court Monday morning and a judge granted the state's request to deny him pretrial release.

  He is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon with a previous felony conviction, another count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and several misdemeanor and petty offenses, including resisting a police officer and having open alcohol in a vehicle.

Are DuPage judges more intelligent than Cook County judges?

We all know that answer. 

Or did DuPage get tipped off by Porkulous that being tough on crime was now the "in" thing and this is the beginning of a new trend?

Seeing DuPage voting patterns the past few elections, a distinct possibility.

How many future crimes did this deter - suburban or Chicago?

• A teen boy was shot and killed after allegedly trying to rob another teen Wednesday afternoon in Cicero, town officials said.

  Two teens met for a marketplace sale that began on social media about 3:20 p.m. in the 1300-block of South 58th Avenue, officials said.

  The sale did not take place, and as the teen selling the item walked away, the other teen approached him and began to struggle with him over the item, officials said.

  A relative of the teen who owned the item got out of a nearby vehicle and was shot twice by the alleged robber, officials said. The relative, who also had a gun, said he returned fire, hitting the robber once.

Based on trends and history, we'd say this prevented at least half-a-dozen, maybe as many as ten future robberies/shootings in Cook County by this individual alone in 2026. 

If any of his friends were paying attention, maybe they learned a valuable lesson and might not attempt something similar, meaning the number of prevented crimes will increase exponentially. 

Imagine this happening on the CTA or downtown. It warms our cold dark heart. 

Ten Year Fight Ends

A funeral service for suburban Detective Tim Jones:

• Park Forest Police Detective Tim Jones died nearly a decade after a shooting left him paralyzed. The community honored his life on Saturday.

  There were heavy hearts at a very emotional celebration of life at Tinley Park High School, the alma mater of Officer Jones, who battled for about a decade after being injured in the line of duty. All of his family and friends spoke to the kind of resilience Jones offered throughout his life

  Detective Jones was 24 years old when he was shot in the head in March of 2016 while responding to a burglary. Jones died earlier this month, nearly 10 years after the shooting. A public walk-through was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A first responder walk-through was held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The celebration of life service began at 2 p.m.

A hell of a fight you put up for those ten years.

Short Memories

A number of readers took issue with our take yesterday, that the NYC efforts to sent "mental health" people to certain calls instead of the police was a bad idea.

They seem to have forgotten this incident from earlier this year:

• A 28-year-old man was charged in connection with a shooting at an Evanston hospital on Thursday that left a security guard wounded. Christian J. Haywood, of Evanston, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery, and two misdemeanor counts of unlawful gun possession, according to the Evanston Police Department.

  After appearing to be experiencing a medical emergency at a Taco Bell on Sherman Avenue, Haywood was taken by paramedics to Endeavor Health Evanston Hospital on Thursday evening.

  Once inside the emergency room, police said the suspect became agitated, causing hospital security to get involved. He then allegedly lunged toward his belongings, retrieved a gun, and fired at least three rounds inside the ER shortly before 8 p.m.

  A 33-year-old female security officer was hit and had non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A 47-year-old security officer also had bite-related injuries while taking the suspect into custody, police said.

Unarmed mental health workers responded to the initial call and determined the subject needed treatment and summoned an ambulance for transport - police were not notified and (supposedly) weren't on scene. 

No one searched the subject or his bag - because why would mental health "experts" do that? 

After he got frisky at the hospital, medical personnel summoned....unarmed security guards! One of whom got shot, another of whom got bit.

Then the actual police were called, and a second gun was located in the offender's bag. 

But hey, untrained and situationally unaware mental health "experts" are the wave of the future! Maybe they can call them "observers" like those CTA rape observers.

Obviously Corrupt Suburb

The Markham Officer who found that gun in the felonious "violence interrupters" car and who was ordered by the chief to release said felon and return said gun to the owner?

She got fired:

• The Markham cop who found a gun in the center console of a convicted murderer’s car, only to be ordered by the department’s chief to let the man go, has been fired.

  Markham Police Chief Jack Genius terminated Probationary Police Officer Kayla M. Heller on December 8, the same day CWBChicago informed Genius that the outlet was preparing a news story about the October 8 incident involving Tyrone Muhammad, a convicted killer and U.S. Senate candidate who works as a violence interrupter.

  State records show Heller was initially certified as a law enforcement officer on December 20, 2024, and sources familiar with her employment say she was set to complete her one-year probationary period with Markham PD this coming Saturday.

  But those same state records show Markham separated Heller on December 8 as the Illinois Attorney General’s Office was pressuring the town’s police department to provide CWBChicago with video footage related to Muhammad’s traffic stop, detention, and release. CWB sought the attorney general’s intervention after Markham wrongfully refused to release any information about the October 8 incident despite two open records requests.

Granted, she was "probationary" and so has little recourse aside from a hugely expensive lawsuit, but we all know exactly what happened here.

And chief moron Genius appears to be politically untouchable as he has faced corruption charges of his own, selling badges among other things. But somehow, he landed a chief job in one of the more crooked suburbs here in Illinois. 

Multi-Level Suburban Scandal

It pays to be a so-called "violence interrupter" in Markham:

• A convicted murderer now working as a violence interrupter was allowed to walk away without charges after cops found a firearm in his car during a routine traffic stop, according to records obtained by CWBChicago. That’s because the town’s police chief personally intervened and ordered cops not to prosecute the matter.

  And, CWBChicago has learned, the directive from Markham Police Chief Jack Genius came down before officers submitted the case for routine review by prosecutors.

• During the stop, Muhammad repeatedly mentioned elected officials and called attention to a Harvey alderwoman standing nearby.

  He also questioned the officer’s decision to run his plates, asking, “That’s how you do it? Is that profiling?” “It’s not profiling at all,” answered the officer.

  “All the doggone shootings, violence I stop in Chicago, I just making sure,” Muhammad replied.

  After taking a seat on the curb, Muhammad told a backup officer, “I do, um, violence prevention,” then nodded toward a woman watching the stop and added, “and that’s our alderman right there.

The aldercreature appears to have been Colby Chapman (Markham 2nd Ward).

But wonder of wonders, CWB discovered a completely different woman showed up at the Markham PD to claim the weapon later, meaning that a convicted felon (who couldn't own a weapon) and a Markham aldercreature in the car (who didn't own the weapon) were both within arms reach of an unsecured unattended weapon - which all sorts of democrat politicians have passed laws about threatening fines, jail and revocation of FOID cards.

Which is happening when exactly?

And Chief Moron needs to face charges, too. 

Park Forest Officer Dies

Ten years after being shot in the line of duty:

• Timothy Jones, a Park Forest detective, has died nearly 10 years after he was shot in the line of duty, the suburban police department announced Thursday morning.

  “Yesterday, Tim’s long and difficult battle came to an end. And while our hearts are broken, we remain incredibly proud of the fight he gave,” the police department said in a social media post announcing his death. “Tim will always be an inspiration and a reminder of the power of strength, faith, and the unwavering support of family and loved ones.”

  Jones was 24, and a south suburban officer for less than a year in March 2016 when he responded to reports of a break-in at a vacant home and was shot multiple times, requiring emergency surgery.

  “We were told he wouldn’t survive, but Tim had other plans,” the department said. “Day after day, year after year, he pushed through challenges most of us can’t imagine. For nearly 10 years, Tim showed us what courage, resilience, and heart truly look like.”

  In 2021, Jones was made an honorary detective.

That is a long time considering the injuries he had suffered and the trials he had to go through. The sheer determination to get ten years out of life after almost dying is impressive.

RIP Sir. Deepest condolences to the Park Forest PD and Detective Jones's family and friends.

• An illegal immigrant cop who was arrested by federal authorities in October and later released has since been brought back onto the force.

  The Hanover Police Department announced Tuesday that it has brought Radule Bojovic, an illegal immigrant from Montenegro, back on as an officer following his release from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention in October. Bojovic overstayed a B2 tourist visa that required him to leave the United States on March 31, 2015, the Department of Homeland Security said at the time of his arrest.

Still not a citizen, but enforcing the Law on citizens.

Still here illegally on a tourist visa.

Still not able to legally own a gun. 

Illinois is broken beyond belief. 

Attempted Whitewashing

Former Dalton "mayor" Henyard is trying to refurbish her tainted legacy:

• Before we get started, the answer is and always will be “NO.”

  We have received these from others in the past and have never removed an article based on any of these “compliance notices” or take-down demands – whether they were sent to us by attorneys or “image” companies like this one is.

  Our publications speak for themselves and have never been successfully challenged in any court of law.

  Tiffany Henyard, the former Mayor of Dolton, Illinois, is apparently attempting to clean up her “image” or what is left of it after her disastrous term as mayor ended.

  Today, we received an email from the “Compliance Dept” with the subject line of “Removal Request (First Request) Respectfully.”

  My mind immediately said “NO” prior to even opening the email to read it.

  Below is the entire text of this “request” from the “Cyber Investigation Unit” of a company called “Business Image Lift.”

The letter was sent to a smaller media site - Illinois Leaks - in a rather blatant attempt to bully them into removing articles telling the truth about Henyard's disastrous reign. If the publicity firm could get them to remove things, then they can use that as a larger stick against other sites. 

Illinois Leaks told them to pound sand.

We got something similar years ago - from actual lawyers - following the Midway crash of Southwest Flight 1248. We told them something similar and never heard back.

Mother of the Year

A mother in Joliet doing what is necessary:

• A burglar shot and killed by a mother as she hid her baby in a closet during a home invasion was a serial criminal who'd only recently been freed from jail.

  Shelby Hurd, 36, died last Tuesday after being blasted in the head with a bullet while entering the unidentified mother's home in Joliet, Illinois.

  Patch reported that Hurd was only freed on parole in February this year over a slew of previous burglary convictions.

  In 2024, he pleaded guilty to two separate burglary incidents that took place 10 days apart in March 2022. 

  Hurd was sentenced to four years with 170 days credit for time served. It is unclear how he ended up being freed back onto the streets in early 2025.

Well, this is Illinois, where democrat prioritize criminals over actual citizens. You don't really expect criminals to serve out sentences. Fortunately, this time someone was willing to do what democrats won't do - hold criminals accountable for bad decisions.

Nice shooting Mom.

Yesterday, we wrote about the Oak Brook PD deploying drones....drones that will be semi-autonomous at some point, responding to calls faster than actual officers in order to observe and video crime occurring until police arrive.

Someone with a far better memory than we have posted this story from 2016, by Cuck Goudie of all people. It's about the time former Dallas Chief and Chicago Supernintendo authorized the robotic execution of a five-time-cop-killer:

• When Dallas Police improvised the use of a remote control robot to blow up a shooter, it was heralded as a new frontier for law enforcement. While that may have been the first time a robot was sent in to stop and kill a criminal, the I-Team learned Tuesday night that Cook County's bomb squad has long had a similar attack plan in its playbook.

  [...] The robot delivered a pound of c-4 explosive close enough to the shooter to blow him up, a tactic that Sgt. Larry Drish, commander of the Cook County Sheriff's police bomb squad, always has available.

  "We have been practicing this sort of thing for years, we have the capability in our response trucks and in the response truck with the robots to immediately deploy explosives, with whatever technology we have to immediately end the threat," Drish said.

  Cook County's three robots are funded with Homeland Security money.

Honest to God, we have no idea how we missed this story at the time. There was even a Tribune article! Cook County with robots, armed with an anti-personnel device, with a plan in place, and practicing to use it? In fact, the robot has a bean bag gun, a Taser, and a shotgun barrel - usually used to disable/detonate a explosive, but which can be aimed and fired at a person.

And now Oak Brook is deploying a semi-autonomous drone. 

How soon until they give it a gun? Or maybe a grenade like those Ukrainian drones?

When there aren't enough cops, send the drones:

• Cutting-edge drone technology is now online in metro Chicago. The Oak Brook Police Department is deploying a fully autonomous drone to assess situations, and, more often than not, beat uniformed officers to the scene.

  The newest eye in the sky is billed as a vital tool for everyone's safety.

  The first responder drone made by Flock Safety is housed on the top of the department, and sits at the ready to take flight in an instant anywhere in the 8 square miles of the village.

  "So, the drone to get to any scene within a minute and a half, they're going to get that real in-progress real-time information, video data, license plates, offender information and relay that in real time," Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said.

  He said the new technology is not seen anywhere else in Illinois. Inside the station, operators in their "new real-time crime center" can deploy the drone at their discretion, based on scanner traffic. It then flies at 200-400 feet above roads and red lights, without a human operator.

  Eventually, the drone will be able to deploy itself, based on specific emergency calls that come in. "It'll get there, nine times out of 10, before an officer will arrive. And it'll be the best camera angle and the best view of that situation, as it's evolving," Strockis said.

We believe we mentioned this somewhere years ago:

• with the massive prevalence of cameras, police might not be able to respond to every 911 call, but by golly, they'll record you being robbed, shot, stabbed, raped or murdered.

The Department will even play the highlight reel at the Christmas parties, complete with the Yakety Sax musical accompaniment.
