Statement From Second City Cop

Well, this was certainly a long time coming. Fifteen years, over 22,000 posts, almost two million comments and God knows how many attempts to silence us. But it might finally be over…at least this version of it.

Over the weekend, we received information from a contact at Google that internal chat/e-mails led them to believe that certain precautions we had taken over the years had been breached by Google. We had gotten similar warnings from others in the past, and we dealt with or ignored them as the situation warranted. But this one was different.

And this one – on the heels of Big Tech’s wholesale attack on the President, Parler and center-right to right-leaning authors, politicians and voices – pointed to a countdown that had far less time than we had thought. Most likely, far less time than you think, too. The blacklisting has begun, even if you won’t see it. You should – the wholesale abandonment of the President, the denunciations, the, “I wasn’t really with him” self-serving statements. Sound familiar? It should…if you have any recollections of the show trials behind the Iron Curtain, in Southeast Asia, in assorted Middle East kleptocracies.

Disavowal and re-education is on tap. What Senator McCarthy is remembered for – “Are you now or have you ever been…” has been twisted, refined (Bake that cake!), and exacerbated (Parler is only the first of many). They don’t want “unity.” They want Compliance and as the last fifteen years have shown, we aren’t really good at compliance. The amount of personal data available to “woke companies” who would deny commerce or service based on beliefs, contributions, investments (not Green enough!), social media posting, employment (cops not welcome here), bumper stickers – Have you heard of Operation Choke Point? Look it up and imagine it drilled down to individual citizens. Orwell’s 1984? It’s here.

In closing, we’d just like to thank a few people:

  • Phil Cline – without you banning us from Department computers, we wouldn’t have jumped from 3,000 visits a day to over 30,000 unique daily visits. You, more than anyone, assisted in our success. Some days it topped 50,000, but we thank you for the ten-fold increase. Too bad you can’t ban the next generation SCC;
  • HeyJackass.com – the only true source of crime numbers. We know you’ll ferret out a few more hidden bodies to put 2020 over 800. We guarantee that they’re out there. Groot has ordered the Department to sit on over 20 of them;
  • CWB blog – you are what reporting should be in Chicago. We don’t know your operation, if it’s phone calls or emails or actual feet on the street, but you do more to create informed citizens than major newspapers and broadcast entities;
  • The Chaplains – Fr. Brandt has done and continues to do God’s work. It is the only police charity we contribute to because we know exactly where every dollar is going. And there isn’t a finer man of G-d alive than Rabbi Wolfe. When we hear he’s in the building, around the District or on a crime scene, we’re getting a handshake and our candy – it’s like a scavenger hunt. The rest are decent people, too. Sorry we only ever got you the $50 from WGN Padre. Maybe others contributed anonymously, but that’s between them and God.
  • Our readers. Without you, we would have been nothing. Even last week, we still posted over 90% of comments that didn’t run afoul of the guidelines, and in 15 years, we only had permanent bans on perhaps thirty names.

We have a few hundred e-mails waiting for us, begging for info, and all we can say right now is, “We don’t know.” We don’t know if this is it, we don’t know if we’ll return. We don’t know what Big Tech has in store for us and the political winds are not fortuitous. We are exploring options and we’ll leave it at that.

In the meantime, everyone reading should make these sites the first place you go for news and educated opinion:

  • Ace of Spades blog – the smartest blog in the world right now
  • Instapundit / PJ Media – the Godfather of Libertarian blogging
  • Breitbart – even when it’s over the top, it’s more than you’ll get from mainstream sources
  • The Contrarian – in-depth investigative reporting may just be reborn there

Watch your backs boys and girls. And your fronts. No one else will.

Witness Slips Still Needed (UPDATED)

This disaster of a bill actually made it out of committee. The media has noticed:

  • Police unions and law enforcement organizations from across Illinois were united on Saturday in opposition to a broad criminal justice overhaul the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus is pushing during the General Assembly’s lame-duck session, while Cook County’s top prosecutor weighed in with her support.

Many of the objections from police unions and others were aired during a nearly four-hour Senate committee hearing, and centered largely on proposed restrictions on collective bargaining rights for police and the removal of protections for officers against lawsuits alleging civil rights violations.

Tamara Cummings, general counsel for the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, warned that eliminating so-called qualified immunity for officers would “open the floodgates for frivolous lawsuits.”

“This bill goes beyond reasonable reform and goes beyond necessary reform, and it’s frankly punitive,” Cummings testified before the Senate Executive Committee.

As we understand it, this started as a Prescription Drug bill with numerous unrelated amendments attached as it moved along, because no one in their right mind would pass a bill this punitive in nature and atrocious in actual content. In fact, it's biggest booster is....Crimesha....and we all see how the summer of 2020 with near record homicides, shootings and riots resulted from her benighted policies. Her policies ended up being the single most deadly factor in the deaths of black and brown victims and not the police.

So this bill is headed to the floor for a vote Monday. You can register your objections at this link here:

If this passes in any way, shape or form, we can guarantee two things:

  • massive statewide retirements - who would work under these conditions?
  • new homicide records across the state

This would truly be a disaster for policing.

UPDATE: The Witness Slip link is closed - use the new link above to tell them No

Lawndale Shooting

010 District:

  • A person was shot by police Saturday in Lawndale on the West Side.

Officers with the Community Safety Team were investigating a vehicle that was illegally parked in a tow zone about 3:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Karlov when a female inside the car “began exhibiting characteristics of an armed person,” Chicago police said.

An “armed confrontation” broke out shortly after between the officers and the female, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Fire officials said the woman, believed to be in her 20s, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Cops unhurt.

Ask Yourself Why.... (UPDATE)

Why aren't you seeing damage estimates from the events in DC?

  • could it be because they are so minuscule when compared to the wholesale destruction in Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Kenosha and Minneapolis? Damage estimates from those locations ranged from tens of millions to hundreds of millions.

Why aren't you seeing any sort of video coverage of the attack on Capitol Police Officer Sicknick from what is arguably the most camera-infested city this side of the Atlantic Ocean? Not a single camera has footage of a murderer swinging a fire extinguisher?

  • it doesn't fit the media narrative, so it will be ignored and/or swept under the rug

Why hasn't there been a single leak of exactly who shot Ashli Babbitt? For the record, we aren't supporters of identifying police officers involved in shootings - but our opinion doesn't hold much sway nowadays as evidenced by shootings in Ferguson, Cincinnati, Kenosha, Chicago, and pretty much every single officer involved incident of the past four years.

By all reports and video available, she was unarmed, climbing in a narrow broken window with empty hands. Where were the tasers? Tear gas? Reinforcements? These questions have all been asked, shouted and screamed by media and leftist politicos for years now, always second guessing. Now there's none?

  • again, the narrative

If you read many of the middle-of-the-road sites, you're going to see more of these leaking out for a few days....until they get banned, too - the lefties were there too, mixed in with the Trumpers:

  • But some of the 40-minute video [John Sullivan - Insurgence USA] posted to his social media sites contradicts his assertion that he and another woman were “only filming” the actions and not participating as he can be heard in the video encouraging people to join them as they push their way through police barricades.

Just after people broke into the building, Sullivan — wearing a gas mask and wielding an iPhone on a stabilizing stick — and a woman who said Wednesday that she was making a documentary on Sullivan, are on the first porch area outside the entrance looking back over the throngs of people around the Capitol. They can be heard encouraging people to climb the wall, saying, “Come on. Let’s go!”

For the tiny brains, this doesn't excuse any of the riotous behavior in DC. But individuals made the bad decisions. Not only that, but if you've got any sort of time on the job and you served in any of the riots over the past two decades, how many people does it take to start a cascade of opportunists from engaging in their baser instincts? Not many.

And how should we take this statement from Malig-nancy?

  • ....the House speaker accused [Trump's] backers who violently invaded the Capitol of choosing “their whiteness over democracy.”

What in the actual fuck is that? Please, someone explain that to us.

If you're reading this site, you're likely a cop. And the blind belief of....

  • media narratives
  • politicians
  • even the FBI - who we all know are liars to the nth degree

...is quite appalling. Your bullshit detectors should be red-lining right now. You don't have to believe everything we do - but you ought to be asking questions. You know, like cops do.

UPDATE: This should have been asked above, but why are you not seeing a single tweet or quote from the President "encouraging" or "overthrowing" or "inciting" any sort of riots or property destruction? And don't say it's because they took down his social media accounts - you can find it if you look. Every single media report uses the same words and phrases and people are relying on those narratives why? Encouraging people to march to the seat of government to redress their grievances is now seditious? The Million Man / Mom / Woman marches did it. Abortion foes and supporters do it annually. MLK did it and spoke on the steps of the Capitol.

The world is upside down.

About Damn Time

It's seems that Groot's testicles finally descended:

  • Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Chicago Public Schools will move forward with plans to reopen schools on Monday, despite ongoing objections by the teachers union and a large group of aldermen.

Further, CPS CEO Janice Jackson said staff members who don’t show up — as about half failed to do this week — will be deemed absent without leave “and ineligible for pay going forward.”

“This is not a measure we take lightly,” Jackson added.

Members of the Chicago Teachers Union took issue with assertions that schools are adequately equipped and ready to open, with one calling Jackson’s comments about docking pay “heartless.”

Heartless? Groot takes the high ground (for the first time):

  • But the mayor, emphasizing the safeguards in place for students and staff, contended Friday that remote learning “is not sustainable, not over the long term, because it does not serve every student equally, especially those students who are younger, who require additional help and support and simply don’t have access to a sustainable learning environment.”

“We are doing everything we can to place safety in this pandemic at front and center of what we are doing ... but we need to forge forward,” Lightfoot said.

Because somewhere along the line, somebody smarter than Groot, told Groot she is the mayor of ALL Chicagoans, not just the CTU ones, at least 10% of whom don't even live in Chicago.

And then there are the unreported studies and surveys that show inner-city schools have an online "attendance rate" well below 30%. Why isn't the media looking into those?

Groot's voting base is getting royally screwed in this student-hostage power play.

The End is Near?

Yesterday evening, Apple undertook a massive operation to deplatform alternative media sites for anyone using Apple devices:

Twitter and Facebook are banning any discussion....simply discussions....about election fraud. They're coming for anyone with an alternative viewpoint, even as a discussion. Google App Store has also deplatformed right leaning app Parler.

We imagine everyone saw the speeches yesterday? All outrage and "insurrection" and traitors and other inflammatory language? Does anyone know what the actual dollar amount of damage that was caused?

A few thousand dollars. Total.

But dems and lefties are talking like there was another Federal courthouse burned in Portland, a building leveled by a truck bomb in Oklahoma City, maybe some airliners crashed into New York skyscrapers. Almost like their scripts were written for an incident that never lived up to expectations.

And this video showing Capitol Hill Police opening a side door for "protestors"

Another link to see it. Pause the video at 26 seconds - there are at least four officers (two without masks!) standing in the side hallway who made zero effort to block or restrict the "invaders."

Officers of all people should be seeing this video and asking, "What the actual fuck?" CPD just went through the worst rioting in a generation, and we pointed out time and time again, the failure of leadership to take the simplest precautions and measures to blunt the worst of it.

Better view that video before it gets taken down.

They'll be coming after the blog shortly. Count on it.

Vaccine Coming

Choices choices:

  • Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge #7
    January 7, 2021
City to Offer Covid Vaccine Shortly

The Lodge would like to inform the membership the Department plans on being able to offer CPD personnel the Covid Vaccine in the near future. According to early reports, since the vaccine has a short shelf life the Department is going to be sending out a survey to see how many Officers want the vaccine. The survey should be sent out by tomorrow 08 Jan 2021 via Department email.

The vaccine is not mandatory and if Officers do not want to receive the shot they will need to click on a link in the email. The link will be a formal way to opt out of the vaccine.

The Lodge will update the membership as more information becomes available. Stay healthy and safe.

Anyone know how to check department e-mail?

No Shows at Schools?

Any teachers fired yet?

  • Chicago Teachers Union members who refused to return to classrooms Monday said they’re worried about losing their jobs, but they believe that reopening schools is a greater risk.

“We’re afraid for our lives. We don’t want to lose our jobs. The fear of losing our jobs is real. Many of us are the sole income earners in our homes,” Chicago Public Schools teacher Lori Torres said at a morning news conference. “But the fear of this virus is greater than that fear.”

About 5,800 teachers and other staff members who serve preschoolers and some special education students were expected to return to classrooms on Monday, with those students due to return on Jan. 11, which would mark the first in-person classes in CPS since the coronavirus prompted a statewide shutdown of schools in March.

CPS on Monday did not provide the number of teachers who showed up or who continued delivering lessons remotely, and has not directly responded to most questions about how the latter cases will be handled.

Of course they won't respond - because no one is holding the teachers or their reps responsible for anything. Groot won't butt heads with them because she's scared.

Anyone know what's more dangerous than a school right now? The streets:

In fact, until you hit your 40's and 50's, COVID barely shows up on the health radar. It is a killer of the elderly and the unhealthy. But teachers - supposedly the "educated" - can't read simple bar graphs.

Ridiculous

New York knows what's important:

  • NYPD detectives are heading to California to question a woman caught on video falsely accusing a Black teen of stealing her cellphone in a SoHo hotel.

The officers want the woman, Miya Ponsetto, to either fly to New York with them now to face criminal charges or get arrested and extradited.

Meanwhile, for anything short of murder (and even then it's a paperwork nightmare) Cook County Courts won't extradite.

What's a false accusation - Class C Misdemeanor or lower in Illinois and a Civil Lawsuit if you can find the right law firm?

Riots Are Bad Now?

One of the finest quotes ever:

  • “We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” - Ronald Reagan

We would also remind the lib-tards and lefties flooding the site yesterday:

  • If you reward bad behavior, you are only going to get more of it.

You doubt it?

  • "They're not gonna stop, and everyone beware, because they're not gonna stop," she added. "They're not gonna stop before Election Day in November, and they're not gonna stop after Election Day."

"Everyone should take note of that, on both levels, that they're not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not," she concluded.

It has been a constant theme on the left:

But now the media and the left is outraged? Getthefuckoutofhere with that bullshit. Remember back in June when cities were burning?

  • House Democrats unanimously blocked a resolution condemning acts of violence and rioting—including the "deliberate targeting of law enforcement officers"—in the wake of George Floyd's death.
It was okay in June why again?

Labels:

Poor Response By....

All Aboard the Conspiracy Express:

  • Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser told federal law enforcement to stand down just one day before a mob of Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, smashing windows, entering the chambers, and forcing lawmakers and congressional staff inside into lockdown.

“To be clear, the District of Columbia is not requesting other federal law enforcement personnel and discourages any additional deployment without immediate notification to, and consultation with, MPD if such plans are underway,” Bowser wrote in a letter to acting U.S. Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller, and Secretary of the Army Ryan D. McCarthy.

Confirmed via the governor:

  • During a press conference on Thursday, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) said that approval to send the Maryland National Guard to the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday was “repeatedly denied” and it took an hour and a half before they received approval to send the Guard.

Hogan said, “[L]eaders of Congress were pleading with me, as the governor of Maryland, for assistance from Maryland’s National Guard and State Police. I informed [Leader] Hoyer and the other leaders that a force of specially trained riot police, equipped to respond to civil disturbances, along with members of allied and local law enforcement agencies were already en route to the Capitol. I also told them that I authorized the mobilization of the Maryland National Guard and that I was ready, willing, and able to immediately deploy them to the Capitol.”

He continued, “However, we were repeatedly denied approval to do so. Under federal law, the mayor of the District of Columbia does not have authority over the Guard, and we must receive approval from the secretary of Defense before we’re able to send our Maryland National Guard across the border into the federal city, into the District of Columbia. So, we had a little back and forth trying to get that authorization. In the meantime, we did not hesitate, we continued to mobilize and get ready so that, if and when we finally got that approval, we could immediately move. Approximately an hour and a half later, I got a call on my cell phone from the Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, who gave us the authority that we needed to be able to move into the city.”

So the democratic mayor and the Pentagon delayed an appropriate response. You know what that means? Racism!

  • President-elect Joe Biden claimed Thursday that the rioters who stormed the United States Capitol earlier this week would have been treated “very differently” had they been protesters associated with the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

[...] The president-elect, in particular, told the audience that when news of the rioting first broke his granddaughter sent him a photo taken last year of “military people … lining the steps of the Lincoln Memorial because of a protest by Black Lives Matter.”

“She said, ‘Pop, this isn’t fair. No one can tell me that if that had been a group of Black Lives Matter, protesting yesterday, they would have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the capitol,'” Biden said.

Gee, we aren't sure but here's a picture of DC this past summer during the #blm riots:

And how many black people died during the DC riots? Less than one - which would be "none."

But there's an unarmed female USAF veteran dead in the DC morgue tonight.

Pandering to Woke-tards

The FOP and the PBPA put out statements regarding a 600-page "amendment" put forth in Springfield earlier this week.

Here's the link to the 600 page monstrosity.

Here's what it entails (italicized comments are ours):

  • Eliminates Qualified Immunity for police officers, making them personally liable in civil suits (fetality written into law)
  • Eliminates Officer’s rights to Collectively Bargain, creating a “special class” of public employee rights in Illinois that can only negotiate over wages and benefits (welcome to slavery, Illinois style)
  • No contractual language regarding discipline and discharge procedures for police officers (you have no Rights and no Garrity protections)
  • Allows officers to be disciplined based on anonymous and unsubstantiated or unverifiable complaints (see above)
  • Mandates that unverified complaints be kept with no time limit no removal and no limits on (statute of limitations? What's that?)
  • Substantially increases both initial and ongoing training requirements but does not provide any funding for increased costs and no assurances that the courses will even be offered (welcome to another 100 hours a year of training, funneling billions of  taxpayer dollars to connected training companies)
  • Mandates the use of body cameras by all departments for every officer but does not include money to pay for cameras (unfunded mandates - typical democrat stealth tax raises)
  • Withholds money from any city that does not comply with the requirements of the legislation (Remember when governors and mayors squealed like stuck pigs when Trump attempted to enforce compliance via purse strings?)
  • Eliminates Cash Bail while enacting multiple benefits for people convicted of committing crimes (progressive wet dream)
  • Removes prohibitions against obstructing police officers (whose streets? #blm. antifa. anarchists)
  • Subjects officers to possible criminal charges of Official Misconduct, a class 3 felony, for trivial and incidental issues

Anywhere else, and we'd say, "Not a fucking chance." But this is corrupt Illinois. We never thought we'd see "Stay Fetal" enacted into law.

Shades of 1976

Typical shitty Cook County government response:

  • A Cook County Department of Public Health website that collected information for potential COVID-19 vaccine distribution raised confusion Monday as the department twice changed its guidance about who was eligible to use the site.

A survey on the website initially appeared to be open to all Cook County residents, and many filled it out over the weekend and on Monday, thinking it might help them understand when it would be their turn to receive vaccines. But county health department spokesman Don Bolger told the Tribune early Monday afternoon that the survey was intended only for some health care workers.

Surpassed by Groot's crappy Department of Health efforts:

  • Mayor Lori Lightfoot called on President-elect Joe Biden to deliver significantly more COVID-19 vaccines to Chicago and other cities or face a drawn out pandemic that will last well into 2022.

Lightfoot, at a media event showcasing the first five Chicago health care workers receiving their second doses of vaccine, said that the rate of distribution to cities is way too slow and added that it will take Chicago almost a year and a half to vaccinate all the city’s residents unless things speed up.

There are federal protocols for mass inoculations - which Putzger, Prickwrinkle and Groot have refused to follow because they know better or something.....they know what class of voter will respond better to being first in line. Which of course, results in typical government efficiency:

  • Less than 30% of the COVID-19 vaccines shipped to Chicago so far have made it into the arms of people who actually live in the city.

Moderna and Pfizer have shipped a collective 124,425 doses to Chicago as of Dec. 28, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. An additional 32,000 doses are expected to arrive this week.

But just 36,531 of the doses shipped here have been injected into the arms of people living in Chicago zip codes, the data show. The remaining 87,894 doses were either given to non-city residents who work in Chicago, or are sitting in a freezer waiting to be administered.

We've heard (but haven't confirmed) that the prisoners in Cook County jail are getting shots before nurses at Stroger.

Is it any wonder that this is happening?

  • Large percentages of health care workers in multiple states have said they would not take the COVID-19 vaccine, with some citing a distrust of the political machinations behind the timeline of the vaccine’s creation.

The New York Post reported Friday that health care works in California, New York City, Ohio, and Texas are refusing to take the vaccine in large numbers. The workers are citing skepticism that the vaccine would work without side effects given how quickly it was developed and approved.

But then again, maybe old timers (like us) remember this from 1976:

  • MIKE WALLACE: The flu season is upon us. Which type will we worry about this year, and what kind of shots will we be told to take? Remember the swine flu scare of 1976? That was the year the U.S. government told us all that swine flu could turn out to be a killer that could spread across the nation, and Washington decided that every man, woman and child in the nation should get a shot to prevent a nation-wide outbreak, a pandemic.

Well 46 million of us obediently took the shot, and now 4,000 Americans are claiming damages from Uncle Sam amounting to three and a half billion dollars because of what happened when they took that shot. By far the greatest number of the claims - two thirds of them are for neurological damage, or even death, allegedly triggered by the flu shot.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? No wonder the vaccine companies demanded (and received) absolute immunity from any side effects their shot might cause.

$600 Million Cut Proposed

With demands for police at all time highs, the communists in the City Council propose this:

  • The Police Department would see its budget cut by hundreds of millions of dollars under new changes to the Civilian Police Accountability Council ordinance.

The proposed ordinance, known as CPAC, would create a police oversight board of elected civilians. Now, its advocates are saying it would also include a provision that would cap the Police Department budget, cutting hundreds of millions from its spending plan.

The changes to CPAC were detailed during a Tuesday meeting of the City Council’s Committee on Public Safety. Co-sponsors of a rival police oversight plan — the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability, or GAPA — also outlined changes to their proposed ordinance.

Groot claims to be against both the CPAC and GAPA proposals, but that probably means that she'll take a little bit from Column A and a little bit from Column B, sprinkle in some other "progressive" bullshit to come up with some Frankenstein plan that cuts more positions and slows hiring to a crawl in a soft "defunding" effort and gives her something to campaign on.

Scandal Brewing? (UPDATE)

And this one is all of Brownie's and Groot's making. Don't say you weren't warned:

  • The CST unit is making 500 traffic stops a day. No one in the media is asking about profiling in that unit?? How many citations are issued by them?? My guess is not many. So what’s the point of all those stops?? ACLU?? Consent monitor?? All of those stops surly isn’t bringing crime down so again what is the point of it all???

Supposedly, SeeBS has their teeth in this one and are putting the finishing touches on a report (it pays to keep tabs on your enemies) that shows the number of blue card stops aren't matching the number of event numbers stops. And none of it matches up with body camera recordings, which is a huge No-No in the Groot Era of "Accountability."

Might this lead to another "disbanding" of a specialized unit, with 800 cops headed to the south and west sides to alleviate those years-long shortages? You remember - the way they fucked everyone in MSF a number of years ago.

History repeating?

UPDATE: To more than a few unpublished reading impaired individuals:

  • the media HAS it. We aren't breaking anything.
  • we are WARNING coppers - because we lived through it - that they will disband and redeploy cops to undermanned Districts and then close the bidding process so you can't leave. Ask anyone from TRU or MSF or go read our blog archives from a decade ago - there were no openings posted for almost a year, and when they did, it was to Districts you were already in.

We don't know how many times we have to point it out - the City and Department don't care about you or your family. They want you timid, compliant and scared of losing your job over the tiniest complaint NO MATTER HOW TRIVIAL.

You think you can't lose your job over a traffic stop with no tickets issued? Wake up.

2021 Looking Better Already

Good news everyone!

  • Father Michael Pfleger, the longtime pastor at St. Sabina Church and one of the most prominent priests in Chicago, has been removed from the Auburn Gresham parish following revelations of a decades-old sexual abuse allegation against a minor.

Cardinal Blase Cupich announced “the difficult news” in a letter to the St. Sabina community Tuesday, saying he has “asked Father Pfleger to step aside from ministry following receipt by the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office for Child Abuse Investigations and Review of an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor more than 40 years ago.”

Cupich said Pfleger agreed to his request and will live away from the parish during the course of the archdiocese’s investigation. The allegation has also been reported to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, Cupich said.

Pfleger, 71, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday evening.

Excuse us while we laugh uproariously.

Death Spiral Continues

Another one bites the dust:

  • Macy’s is closing its flagship store in Water Tower Place, creating a huge vacancy on the Magnificent Mile during an already challenging time for retail landlords.

The 170,000-square-foot store in the North Michigan Avenue vertical mall will close after a clearance sale that starts this month and will run for 8 to 12 weeks, Macy’s said Tuesday.

“After careful consideration, Macy’s has decided to close our Water Tower Place location,” Macy’s said in a statement. “This closure is part of the company’s strategy to right-size its store fleet, announced in early 2020. The decision to close a store is always a difficult one, and Macy’s Water Tower Place has been honored to serve its customers on the Magnificent Mile for 45 years.”

"right-sizing" must be code for something. We'll figure it out eventually.

Will voters figure out that Groot has single-handedly destroyed what was once the premier shopping destination in the Midwest in a matter of months?

More Blame for...Dart?

It looks like The Contrarian dug up some info that the mainstream media couldn't - or didn't want to - regarding that botched warrant:

  • Officials in Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart’s office may have refused to provide officers serving with the Chicago Police Department (CPD) with information about an offender sought during an execution of a search warrant in 2019, the Contrarian has learned.

An incident that saw Chicago police officers mistakenly enter the home of a Chicago social worker, Anjanette Young, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office may have declined to provide to CPD the address of the individual sought on the evening police carried out the search warrant.

Sources indicate that the alleged refusal to provide electronic monitoring information to Chicago police officers serving warrants is a matter of deliberate policy under Dart.

[...] If it is true that officers sought the electronic monitoring information about the offender but were rebuffed by the Sheriff's Office, the onus of failure for the officers to serve the warrant on the correct home could and likely should shift away from the police officers who carried out the warrant and be placed at the doorstep of Dart’s office.

So much for "inter-agency cooperation" that might make law enforcement work for the betterment and safety of all citizens. Dart doesn't want anyone to know (and the media covers this up ALL THE TIME) how his Electronic Monitoring Unit is missing over 500 felons, including a sizable number of murderers.

That is why Dart hires spouses and children of all sorts of media figures - to keep them quiet. The number of six-figure County jobs for connected people has exploded while the jail sits empty and sheriffs are at at manpower lows.

CWB Heavy Lifting...Again

We aren't seeing much of this in the mainstream media:

  • Welcome to the first 2021 installment of “Not Horrible,” our ongoing series of reports about people who have been charged with committing serious and violent crimes while on bail for other serious and violent crimes.

We borrowed the name “Not Horrible” from a statement Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans made during budget hearings on November 4, 2019: “It’s not by magic that we haven’t had any horrible incidents occur using this new [affordable bail] system.” Evans’ claim was false at the time and has been repeatedly shown to be false since — unless his definition of “horrible” is different from most Chicagoans’.

So far, CWB reporters have identified 32 people who were charged with committing murder, attempted murder, or aggravated battery with a firearm while free on bail for serious felonies in 2020. Four of the accused men are charged with shooting, and sometimes killing, more than one person.

Who are we kidding - we aren't seeing a single mention of this in the mainstream media because it might reflect badly on Crimesha's lack of prosecution, Dart's lack of actually jailing wrong-doers and Evans releasing pretty much any violent criminal who comes up with a sob story.

FYI: E-Learning

The December Directives are out that every single member is:

  • required to read
  • be cognizant of
  • abide by upon pain of termination

By the way, it's 216 pages of new, amended, corrected orders.

Now get out on the street and get Brownie some Blue Cards. Hopefully, you won't do anything that was covered in those 216 pages that will get you fired.

Speed Cam Warning

Watch your speed...and your wallets:

  • Mayor Lori Lightfoot is not abandoning her controversial plan to lower the threshold for speed camera tickets. But she’s lowering the boom slowly — with a 44-day warning period.

The crackdown that became a focal point for aldermanic critics of the mayor’s $12.8 billion budget begins Jan. 15.

That’s when warning notices start going out to motorists caught driving 6 mph to 10 mph over the posted speed limit. The grace period lasts until March 1.

Only then will speeders start receiving $35 tickets in the mail — but with an additional warning notice for those motorists if they have no prior history of speeding.

Lightfoot’s bad news budget assumes $68 million in additional revenue in 2021 from “enhanced fine enforcement initiatives.”

That's a pretty big assumption - $68 million. And the linked article doesn't seem to say how much the City has collected in years previous, especially with nearly half of the cameras "shuttered" because they're near schools and parks - all closed for COVID.

Remember this asshole from Ebinger?

We had two posts concerning him.

Good news from the northside yesterday:

  • Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you that Mr. McNulty has made a personal decision to resign from the Board of Education effective immediately.

Mr. McNulty has devoted 17 years the Chicago Board of Education and most importantly our students. We have appreciated his service and wish him our very best. This was a decision he felt was best for him personally and professionally.

And probably from a legal standpoint if the Illinois Department of Revenue decided he improperly used the Homeowner Exemption on one of his residences. We waiting for his thank you note after every other taxpayer in the city picked up the tab for his residency violation. It should be in the mail shortly.

This is one job opening....and the northside parents who wrote to us said there were at least seven more residency violators at Ebinger. Perhaps a few more Help Wanted signs are in order?

Flag on the Play

As usual, the media gets it wrong:

  • A man died Sunday after he and a woman were both critically wounded in a shooting on New Year’s Day inside a South Chicago home, marking the city’s first homicide of the year.

He was identified as 51-year-old Victor Salamanca by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

About 12:10 a.m. Friday, Salamanca and the woman, also 51, were sitting in the living room of a home in the 8700 block of South Buffalo Avenue when someone fired shots from outside, Chicago police said.

Salamanca was shot in the head and the woman suffered a graze wound to the head, police said. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

And while he lingered for two days (as Chicago's "first wounding" in 004) someone else got killed in 002 a few hours later

Unless the Slum Times has invented a time machine, the first 0110 was pulled for the Bronzeville shooting. The Detectives can change a UCR code, but they can't change the time of death.

002 is the first, and Chicago is already up to six.

Bradley Gets Ripped Off

We get the feeling that Ben Bradley is experiencing what we've been experiencing for fifteen-plus-years now:

  • Here’s a quick thread illustrating how the national political outrage machine works these days:
  • Step 1: We report a simple local story about a union leader telling teachers it’s not safe to return to school while poolside in Puerto Rico.
  • Step 2: @DonaldJTrumpJr; @seanspicer and more people with the phrase “Fox News contributor” in their Twitter profiles than I care to count are among the tens of thousands who share the story
  • Step 3: Websites run their own versions of the story with bylines of people who have likely never set foot in Chicago (but most are kind enough to at least attribute where the story came from).
  • Step 4: The fine folks at Fox News Channel do an entire segment on the story without an ounce of attribution. Clearly they simply lifted the images from our story because they were already scrubbed from her social media before we ran our original piece.

Golly, that sounds so....familiar....right down to the sarcastic "fine folks" crack at Fox.

Which is why it was refreshing when Ben acknowledged where he got that story about the drunken assaulting racist sergeant (and sent the Chaplains half-a-yard).

In any event, voters need to be outraged a little more these days, but the mainstream media has abdicated its responsibilities. Bradley appears to be flirting with the idea of fair play and outing actual hypocrites, and that might not make him many friends among the Groot set.

We'll see how far this goes.

Coming Soon

Dallas PD administrators are disavowing a memo released by "accident"

  • The Dallas Police Department has learned that an internal memorandum was forwarded to staff members at the 911 Call Center regarding KPMG’s recommendations to divert certain Priority 4 calls to the Dallas Online Reporting System (DORS) or an Expediter. Although conversations have been held on this topic, the memorandum was sent prematurely. The department is still in the evaluation phase on this item and will have further dialogue on recommendations and next steps. Therefore, the actions set out in the memorandum have been rescinded at this time.

The content of the memo itself explained at this link:

  • Dallas police will no longer respond to stolen cars, criminal mischief, reckless damage, runaway kids and child custody escalations, among other offenses. A complete surrender to the attack on policing. Good luck, Big D, reporter Mark Davis tweeted based on a memo that circulated below the Dallas Police initial response.

The memo itself is here.

Guess where else this is being discussed? In depth and out-of-sight of aldercreatures and citizens?

  • Groot-city

And why is it being discussed now?

  • supposedly, 50-170 scheduled retirements in January;
  • and another 50-170 scheduled retirements in February;
  • combined with zero hiring in the 1st Quarter, maybe the 2nd Quarter.

Start digging around. Chicago is already averaging over a killing a day. Seven-hundred might be the new normal. Eight-hundred is a distinct possibility.

Another Miracle

No bail?

  • Calling a father of two with a long criminal background a “poster child for no bail,” a Cook County judge on Sunday remanded the man into custody on three separate felony cases all occurring within the last seven months.

Jermaine C. Morris, 34, of Chicago’s East Garfield Park neighborhood, faces felony charges connected to three separate cases, including separate counts of attempted first-degree murder for different shootings, according to authorities.

In the latest case, Morris allegedly got into a gunbattle with an off-duty Chicago police officer Friday after a minor car crash with his girlfriend’s car just after noon in an alley in the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the city’s Lawndale neighborhood.

The unidentified officer wasn’t hurt, but he managed to wound Morris in the left bicep after firing through his own windshield. Authorities recovered 14 fired 9 mm bullet casings at the scene.

Why was he on the street in the first place?

  • Morris was out on a $3,000 bail for a Dec. 17 gun case and was barred from owning or possessing a firearm during the shooting involving the off-duty officer.
How big are this asshole's stimulus checks that he can make $3K bail and buy a gun?

Dumbest Headline of 2020

Leave it to the Tribune and their hack "reporters" to push this one:

And the story is a mish-mash of wishful progressive bullshit:

  • City leaders and experts say the increase in violence likely was a byproduct of more than one factor. The spread of the coronavirus forced an economic shutdown and stay-at-home order, exacerbating economic woes in some neighborhoods and limiting some social services. The high-profile killings of Black people by police officers sparked a national reckoning on race issues, and in some cases generated instability across the city and increased distrust of police officers, eroding their ability to rely on community members for help.

Gee. Who shutdown the cities? Who forced everyone to stay home? Who took the simplest joy out of a walk in the park, a swim in the lake, or a night at the movies?

And who isn't prosecuting criminals for shootings, maiming, robbing, raping and pillaging? Who glorified criminals as some sort of "heroes" to be emulated and respected?

Did you know that a few nights ago in Minneapolis, there were "protests" over a shooting where the assailant fired at police first? On video and from independent witnesses? And the media had the nerve to call it "another police killing."

Where's Eric Holder and his discussion now? No doubt that Biden will bring this piece of shit back at some point.

Hmmmmmmm

A reader pointed out this story:

  • The Food and Drug Administration is alerting pet owners about high levels of aflatoxin in some pet foods after 28 dogs reportedly died and eight others were sickened.

The food containing the toxin has been identified as certain Sportmix products manufactured by Midwestern Pet Foods. The products were voluntarily recalled by the company on Wednesday.

The FDA and the Missouri Department of Agriculture are working with the manufacturer to determine whether more products contain high levels of the toxin.

We like dogs. Hooray that the FDA took this step.

But as the reader pointed out:

  • The [FDA] does not recall a product that kills 520,000 Americans a year and over seven million worldwide. Last I checked in about one year we had about 1.8 million deaths worldwide on something we can't control, and with cigarettes over 7 million deaths with something we can control. If the fda and our liebrals cared so much about saving lives why aren't they putting the tobacco industry on lockdown instead of us humans, if groot an jb putz actually care about saving lives this would be their next undertaking.

We imagine it might have something to do with money?

But that's crazy talk. What politician is more concerned about dollars than human lives?

We've noticed that people are copying entire comments in order to reply with their own comment. Then someone copies the original comment and reply to post their own rebuttal. Then sometimes, the original poster copies the comment, the reply, the rebuttal and....creating massive text blocks that no one is reading and we are finding difficult to properly monitor.

Therefore we are requesting that you make the attempt to ONLY copy the portion of the comment that you are addressing to make it smaller and easier to read. If the block gets too big, copy the date/time stamp at the bottom and interested parties can scroll back to find out what you're talking about.

We aren't asking much, and we aren't going to start with the hammer.

But if it continues, and you don't see your WALL OF TEXT that you spent precious seconds creating instead of taking the minimal effort to Copy/Paste the tiny passage you want to reply to, don't be surprised that we got bored monitoring it and just took the exact same minimal effort you did.

Kangaroo Hearing

If there was any doubt that the City Council is populated by the most ignorant agenda-driven bitches in Chicago politics, let this hearing be what dispels all doubt:

  • A Chicago City Council “hearing” is supposed to be used by aldermen who are not experts on a certain topic to hear testimony from people who are experts so that the City Council can make better governing decisions.

December 22nd’s Joint Committee on Human Relations and Public Safety hearing on the Chicago Police Department (CPD) search warrant of Anjanette Young’s apartment was anything but. A group of aldermen appearing to have no grasp of the facts of the incident were apparently so confident in their knowledge that they decided they didn’t need to ask relevant questions. The aldermen just wanted to skip to discussing police terminations. With questions like “did the officers all get complaints on each other,” the hearing was akin to watching a trial where no one cared if a crime had been committed, only what the most appropriate form of execution would be.

Trying to "out grandstand" each other led to this:

  • Vainly trying to present themselves as a collective body trying to arrive at some truth, the hearing lasted nearly seven hours and featured some hilarious moments, such as an exhausted Superintendent Brown answering an alderman’s question with something like “why don’t you ask Eddie Johnson?” A compelling response, since the warrant was executed in February of 2019 under former superintendent Johnson’s tenure.

As the hearing dragged on, questions posed to representatives of the CPD, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) and the Cook County State’s Attorney Office (CCSAO) devolved into a kind of competition among aldermen on who could capitalize on Ms. Young’s misfortune by appearing to be the most woke, emotionally scarred and vicariously traumatized by the events of that evening.  Aldermen demanded an end to no-knock warrants, suggested halting payments to confidential informants, wanted to out the identity of the individual who provided the information for the warrant, and criticized the CCSAO for not auditing search warrants.

Seven hours with 100% wrong information and questioning the wrong superintendent, all while vigorously and pointedly ignoring established disciplinary processes, investigation techniques and Labor Law.

The article from the Contrarian is a thoroughly researched and meticulous accounting of what actually happened, not the slapdash headline grabbing bullshit that the regular media hacks ran with.

What if the Contrarian teamed up with Ben Bradley and did actual accurate repor.....whoa....we gotta lay off the drinking tonight.

Wrong Neighborhood Again

How many shooters do you think heard pfather pfasshole's sermon?

  • Holding fluttering Chicago flags with bullet holes instead of red stars, they marched along Michigan Avenue on Thursday urging city leaders not to forget the “virus of violence.”

“We have blood running in our streets. We have mothers crying. We have whole neighborhoods that are traumatized,” said the Rev. Michael Pfleger, who led the gathering of about 150 people.

Pfleger, senior pastor at St. Sabina Church on the South Side, said the city’s plague of violence in 2020 — 774 murders — has been largely forgotten in a year of dealing with the coronavirus.

Leaving aside the bullshit 774 number (see HeyJackass.com for real numbers):

  • how about the 3,500 others collecting lead?
  • how come the pfreaky father only mentions mothers, but not fathers?
  • how many kids died of gunshots versus corona (hint - the coronavirus numbers for children is a number less than two)

Hey Mike, all you're doing is irritating people who really want to be your allies, but they remember what happened this past summer....and who was doing it. It seems pretty obvious that Mikey was told not to march anywhere it might make a difference...like dope corners.

Where Did the Flu Go?

Good question:

  • According to the WHO, seasonal flu/influenza practically disappeared this year in the southern hemisphere.

“In tropical South America, there were no influenza detections…”

“Globally… influenza activity remained at lower levels than expected for this time of the year.”

Lower means flu practically didn’t show up this year like always before.

"...no influenza detections..." What a crock of shit. It's almost like some sinister force is reclassifying everything they run across as COVID - even falls and gunshots. The maps included are something else, too.

And just in time for Inauguration Day, a "new" strain "discovered" to extend the panics and lockdowns, as if viruses didn't mutate all the time.

Go read it all.

First Homicide of 2021

Looks like the Deuce came through:

  • A 62-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Friday in Bronzeville on the South Side, police said.

He was driving a Volvo sedan about 3:15 a.m. in the 4700 block of South King Drive when someone fired shots, and he was struck in the neck, Chicago police said.

The man then drove into a vacant lot and crashed in an alley, police said.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

We have heard that Groot has ordered this killing to be classified as a "Traffic Crash with a side of COVID-19," but we're pretty sure it was from the bullet.

Off Duty Shoots Carjacker

In the 010 District:

  • An off-duty Chicago police officer shot and wounded a man on New Year’s Day in the Lawndale neighborhood.

The officer fired his weapon and struck the man the arm shortly after noon in the 1200 block of South Kedvale Avenue, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department said.

Police have not released information about the circumstances of the shooting, but said the man who was hospitalized and two others were taken into custody. No charges have been filed.

Officer was unharmed at last report. Nice work by all involved.

CTU Hypocrite

This Ben Bradley guy is starting to grow on us:

  • A Chicago Teachers Union leader is facing criticism for vacationing in the Caribbean while at the same time claiming it’s unsafe for teachers to return to the classroom.

Sarah Chambers is on the union’s executive board and is an area vice president.

As recently as Thursday, she tweeted to rally special education teachers not to return to work Monday because it’s unsafe.

Just a few hours earlier, Chambers posted a picture on Instagram that appears to show her pool side in Puerto Rico and talking about going to Old San Juan for seafood.

Chambers was part of that group of commie CTU members who went to commie Venezuela, praising that commie shithole and their school policies, ignoring the fact that something like 20% of the population had fled the starvation conditions.

She is also the rarest of the rare - a CTU teacher who actually got fired:

  • In 2017, the school district fired her for, as reported by WTTW,

“leaving her own classroom to barge into classrooms of other teachers and issue her own instructions to students, interfering with statewide tests, and participating in a scheme to remove and transport students without any chaperone who had cleared criminal background checks, without alerting school officials which students would be missing from class and which students were unaccounted for….”

However, she claimed she was fired in retaliation for other matters and the CTU got her reinstated

Truly a Karen of the highest order, a dyed-in-the-wool commie, and someone who should be at the very top of a list of people Groot should be firing on 05 January 2021 for subverting the opening of schools.

But whatever balls Groot has are owned by the CTU. In fact, we heard Sarah4Justice took Groot's balls to Puerto Rico to get them some sun.

Where Were The Brass?

We remember in years past, there was all sorts of press coverage of the Superintendent and other high ranking bosses "patrolling" the streets on New Years Eve.

We're old enough to remember when Phil Cline kicked in a door and "got" a gun.

Was Brownie in Texas? Was Carter attending a DJ Captain Chyna Production?

Any other commanders falsifying Official Reports so they can lie about the "First Gun" of the year?

CFD Lawsuit Number?

Someone should probably keep an eye on this one....for the taxpayers' sake:

  • We have scandals on the fire side too.... would love to see this hit the papers. Chiefs exam given a few years ago. Cutoff has always been 70 as passing. This year they dip below and grab 10-15 people - because - you know - they scored the exam wrong....

Chief walker was one of these people. We have 3 prominent black woman who love to get into cat fights at fires to see who is in charge. All 3 are dumber than a box of rocks.

In a nutshell- Well about 2 months ago there was a high rise fire and chief walker wanted to be in charge - she was denied and sent in. She needed help putting on and turning on her SCBA. She left her radio in the car. She would not answer her radio when call - which In turn should have been a mayday - but [another] black Chief was answering for her. She somehow passed out in the stairwell and needed to be hospitalized.

Fast forward a few days - now she is saying the white chiefs left her to die. Truth be told -black chiefs were [running] this whole fire and it wasn’t to the white chiefs got on scene and noticed she was missing and she was found by a white truck company who dragged her useless ass out. [...]

She has now filed a lawsuit against the city. Maybe this will be the mail in the coffin for merit promotions... one could hope.

It's got all the drama a scandal needs:

  • testing inequities
  • "merit"
  • old white guys trying to kill the new minority girl

This one is right in the "progressive" wheelhouse.

Happy New Year!

Of course, these fireworks are imaginary - there are no authorized celebrations during the shutdown.

Stay safe. By the time you read this, there might be a homicide on the board.

Congratulations to the 011th District - 100 homicides (pending last minute adjustments). Homicide Champs seven years in a row now. You have to go back over 20 or 25 years to find a District total that high.

Ask Yourself...

Jack Dunphy asks a question every cop should be asking themselves:

  • If I’m calculating this correctly, we’re about to enter our forty-second week of “Two Weeks to Stop the Spread.” I’m just a cop with no claim to medical expertise, but if I may offer a layman’s opinion, weeks three through forty-one don’t seem to have been any more effective than the first two. What would lead anyone to believe the next two, three, or forty-one will be?

[...] After such a long period of lockdowns, not to mention mask mandates, social distancing, and the ever-shifting goal posts, people are understandably getting fractious. We should expect to see many more scenes like this one from Dec. 22, in which a Texas man was arrested at a San Antonio mall while participating in an anti-mask protest. Which places the police in an uncomfortable dilemma. There is a growing and seemingly irreconcilable divide between those who still believe these measures can be effective and those chafing under the restrictions.
A lot of uncomfortable situations coming down the road, situations that are going to end up before assorted federal courts.

2020 Closes

It looks like Chicago will finish just below 800. But have no fear - if history is any indicator, they city will hit 800 for 2020 around halfway through 2021. HeyJackass.com explains:

  • ..the most common comparison for 2020 is the more recent and relevant 2016. On January 1st 2017, the final totals for 2016 were:
    Shot and Killed: 713
    Shot and Wounded: 3,665
    Total Shot: 4,378
    Total Homicides: 795

Over the past few years, those totals have been slowly adjusted to show:
    Shot and Killed: 722 (+9)
    Shot and Wounded: 3,658 (-7)
    Total Shot: 4,380 (+2)
    Total Homicides: 808 (+13)

No matter where 2020 ends up on January 1st, it will join 2016 as one of the most violent years of this century with a homicide tally that will slowly increase over the coming years to eventually eclipse 800.

And now, let's hear some predictions for 2021.
