We remember in years past, there was all sorts of press coverage of the Superintendent and other high ranking bosses "patrolling" the streets on New Years Eve.
We're old enough to remember when Phil Cline kicked in a door and "got" a gun.
Was Brownie in Texas? Was Carter attending a DJ Captain Chyna Production?
Any other commanders falsifying Official Reports so they can lie about the "First Gun" of the year?

Working holidays is for the little people.
I heard some boss rolling around quarter past midnight playing police and going over the radio on zone 9 chasing down someone with a gun, with no idea where they were at.
Heard the first deputy was at the 006th District Roll Call admonishing them for not wearing their masks while in the roll call room.
Nah..... That merit hack Carter was in 006 roll call screaming at the entire watch about social distancing and masks. Probably pissed off that his cheater wife didn't get promoted to commander in that Hellhole.

Aside from a couple exempts, leadership on this department now falls on the shoulders of individual lieutenants, sergeants, and sometimes even patrolmen.
The commander of 018 helped get a gun last night. I know because I was parked right down the block on the downtown detail but couldn't leave my post to help her.
Commander of 009 was on the street,backing cars up, but that's normal. Relatively quiet night on the zone.
They were actively avoiding the spreading the Coronavirus by remote social distancing.
Personally, I’d rather not have them hanging around. The bosses get lip cramps from all the puckering up behind them. I lose respect for them after seeing this for too long.

How could these so-called “commanders” go out on patrol when they have absolutely have no idea what to do ? Especially the multi-merited ???
The bosses on this job are a joke. Carter couldn't be out there because he is afraid of losing any medals from his uniform and Brown has no idea where he is in Chicago. There is the Chief of Patrol. DC Bauer and a dew other exempts that really know thier job and genuinely care about the troops.

It is a shame that Beck would not stay and take the job, but he said many years ago that Chicago is too political and most of the qualified big city chiefs would turn it down. Now, it looks like everything that Beck put into place or suggested has been cast aside. Brown is a disappointment, the department is swirling down the drain of cronyism and patronage and racial politics. It makes me sad what has become of the Chicago Police department. In the Army, in Airborne units, EVERYONE from 17 year old Private to 55-60 year old 3–4 Star General, jumps at least one a Quarter. No exceptions and no excuses. It is vital that “ The Brass” spend a few days a year on the street in the field do they know first hand what current conditions are. And, they need to “ Set the Example” once in a while.

I was there that night that Phat Phil 'kicked in the door' and got a gun. It didn't go down quite that way, but that never got in the way of a good story line for Chicago newspapers, has it? Anyone who knows Phil knows he could never lift his foot high enough to kick in a door...now, if he perhaps leaned on it, well...
The brass need to do what they're paid to do...be administrators. Stay inside, and out of the way of the street police. We've got enough work to do without trying to locate the boss to save his or her ass out there. Just saying.
What about the nutcase Sergeant Oneta Sampson in 002 who tased a homeless mental for trespassing and then failed to provide him with proper medical attention or arresting him? She let the mope walk away from the scene and then approved an Aggravated Battery to P.O case report naming the mental as the offender. Everyone has a CR including the Lt. She ran from 005 and 006 and now she’s in 002 blowing up scenes. She was sent to call back a few years ago for going to her estranged husband’s house while on the clock and pulling a gun on him and his new woman.
