I park at 120 east Walton -- One Mag Mile building. The street entrance on Walton, stairway down to the parking garage, is always open and smells like a urinal. I have yet to meet any one who uses it for that on my way up or down, but no doubt will as I'm there 2x a day.

A friend of mine recently visited San Francisco. Said she's never go back because this is a common sight there along with junkies and vagrants aggressively panhandling her wherever she went. SFPD doesnt carry SFTP.
I don't think this is Streeterville (agree with commenter above), not that it matters much. At least I haven't seen this (yet), but the areas on both sides of Michigan Avenue, especially Streeterville, have been very dirty for years. The narrow streets east of Michigan are choked with dog walkers; there isn't a block where it isn't an obstacle course to avoid what the dogs have left there. I also have to say that I do think people use the sidewalk, so to speak. Another thing they use the sidewalks for is spitting, and during the beginning of the pandemic I saw several different homeless men spitting into trashcans just like the one in the picture. Then there is broken glass, especially on the north side of the long fenced undeveloped block that Northwestern owns. Can't this institution clean up and landscape its own property better?

I'm a Streeterville resident. Our neighborhood has homeless people who poop in public, with no regard of audience. I've seen a woman poop in the planter directly in front of Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. I've seen a woman poop in her chair at outdoor patio of Buena Beef. I've seen poop on gravel areas and sidewalks that is either from humans, or Saint Bernard-sized equivalent dogs.
And when we're not dodging the poop on the sidewalks, we're dodging the panhandlers and the several menacing homeless guys who yell and swear at us. The old ladies here are justifiably frightened. Our condo building has half-dozen seniors who've already listed their units just since New Years Day, eager to get out of here, hopefully sooner than later, hopefully walking away rather than being carried-away on a stretcher after an unfortunate episode on the public walkway here.
Northwestern is a TERRIBLE NEIGHBOR. Apparently neither alderman sufficiently hounds Northwestern regarding the sidewalk maintenance in front of their buildings, and the worst offender, their vacant full block, which is chock-a-block full of trash, poop, shattered glass, needles (!), et al. Lousy neighbor, and one who doesn't pay real estate taxes, despite its extravagant spending on new buildings and salaries for its pompous senior administration.
