As usual, the media gets it wrong:
A man died Sunday after he and a woman were both critically wounded in a shooting on New Year’s Day inside a South Chicago home, marking the city’s first homicide of the year.
He was identified as 51-year-old Victor Salamanca by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
About 12:10 a.m. Friday, Salamanca and the woman, also 51, were sitting in the living room of a home in the 8700 block of South Buffalo Avenue when someone fired shots from outside, Chicago police said.
Salamanca was shot in the head and the woman suffered a graze wound to the head, police said. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
And while he lingered for two days (as Chicago's "first wounding" in 004) someone else got killed in 002 a few hours later.
Unless the Slum Times has invented a time machine, the first 0110 was pulled for the Bronzeville shooting. The Detectives can change a UCR code, but they can't change the time of death.
002 is the first, and Chicago is already up to six.

Actually their certificates of death will say they died of the China virus. Count on it.

So the media is pretending like the first one didn't happen or that death occurs at the time of injury instead of the time of death? Either way, it's a covid death, so it doesn't really matter.

Just another PEACEFUL GHETTO SHOOTING no harm no foul. Why are they even covering it. Will be interesting to see if other 999 killings in city this year get this kind of coverage. Must have been a slow news day.

It is good to see that 004 did not dissapoint.
Doing some forensic pathology and simulated trajectory estimations here with years of studying under Quincy M.E reruns (and Seinfeld’s Keith Hernandez episode), that an average adult perched a couch would reach a sitting height of appx 40-46 inches. Assume the repeat affordably bonded armed assailant was that of average feral youth stature of 68 inches and given an extended arm point of aim height of 48-54 inches, depending on the distance of said “had it comin” fleeing feral target and their height, the unfortunate victim would have had to been sitting at or near ground level residence to be struck in the noggin. Looking at a 3-D googleonian skreet-view map of the crime scenery location, it seems most residences are raised far and high above from street drive-by, sidewalk and vacant lot levels.
Certainly worthy and contestable to get a crime reduction reclassification, 87th and Buffalo is close enough to call it Covid’s related.
Expect Larri to challenge this as soon as she can find where Hushed Browns is hiding and ignoring her texts.

For all intents and purposes this dude was dead. Cmon SCC give 004 some credit. We get nothing down here from you guys. Our killings are overlooked by you all the time. Have you ever spent a year down here in recent times. I’m not talking when Sonny’s and the Golden Shell restaurants were open in a thriving community. This place is chock full of violent shooters spanning from 75th street down to 112th streets and we never get our just due by you guys. The infatuation with 007 and 011 is nauseating! Did I fail to mention our car jacking problem down here? Help us out a bit and give us something. Multiple car chases a tour down Stony Island with negative results. This new caps initiative is really going to help us out tho. We’re banking on it.
Young cats in a stolen car, in 004, (4) in total and the female had a replica handgun all nothing to look at here. But the funny shit is one had a BLM mask on his face. If the lockup guys had any sense of humors they would have captured his image with him wearing it. The kid also had the nerve to say to us that the police shoot and kill us all the time.

Rumor has it that over 200 spent cartridges were recovered in the backyard next door from the victims residence. Also numerous weapons recovered from different apartments next door to the victims residence. Inquiring minds would like to know did anyone in the apartment complex have FOID cards?
