City to Offer Covid Vaccine Shortly
The Lodge would like to inform the membership the Department plans on being able to offer CPD personnel the Covid Vaccine in the near future. According to early reports, since the vaccine has a short shelf life the Department is going to be sending out a survey to see how many Officers want the vaccine. The survey should be sent out by tomorrow 08 Jan 2021 via Department email.
The vaccine is not mandatory and if Officers do not want to receive the shot they will need to click on a link in the email. The link will be a formal way to opt out of the vaccine.
The Lodge will update the membership as more information becomes available. Stay healthy and safe.

John, sorry but this OPT OUT sounds shady to me. Why must we opt out? Wouldn’t it be as easy to have people opt in? It sounds like a way to perhaps get around any liability for medical compensation/IOD should you contract COVID between opting out & the city’s administering it. It also sounds like a way of tracking those that don’t fall in line with the left’s future mandatory vaccination, perhaps a condition of employment. People choosing not to be vaccinated may be doing so only temporarily or perhaps they don’t trust the city’s administration of it. Opting out doesn’t mean that the city will actually even produce the numbers of vaccinations for those willing to get the vaccine. Isn’t it as simple to have those willing to have the vaccine administered at this time the choice to opt in? Sorry, but I smell a cautionary warning to not choose the opt out option.

t's not really a vaccine, in the traditional sense, at all. It is more like a drug. Traditional vaccines train our bodies own immune systems to fight specific types of germs by injecting us with small samples of those germs. Our immune systems then "learn" how to fight the germ, grow stronger, and kill germs.
This mRNA thing does nothing of the sort. It instead injects a foreign, and unnatural biochemical substance into our bodies. Normally, our own immune systems would attack, and kill this foreign substance. But, the mRNA "vaccine" tricks our immune systems by hiding the "drug" inside of microscopic carbon nanotubes (think of microscopic pill capsules) to allow the substance within them to enter our bodies, attach and attach itself to our red blood cells.
Once attached to our blood cells the mRNA creates a type of barrier in our red blood cell walls that prevents the SARS-2 virus from entering the blood cells. If the virus cannot enter the cell, it cannot reproduce, and this leads to the SARS virus basically dying of old age. With the way this vaccine works, our immune system has little to nothing to do with actually fighting the virus, or killing it.
I am not a medical professional, and my description here may not be entirely accurate. But this is basically how I understand it, according to what I have read about it. I welcome comments, or corrections to what I wrote from anyone with more knowledge of the mRNA vax.

Widely known in medical profession but most people are unaware that along with things like chemotherapy, people can have vaccination induced thrombocytopenia (pets as well). The vaccination often triggers the immune system to start attacking your platelets, leading to internal bleeding. I had it occur with two dogs I’ve had. One had two reactions years apart & after second episode died before realizing the likely cause. The other had several bouts of it before figuring it out (almost died & had a blood transfusion)...led to that dog having medical waiver to never receive vaccinations for the rest of his life. I’m not an anti vaccinator but honestly seems that there aren’t really any indications of who is at risk to have this kind of reaction. Personally, I think drug companies producing vaccines have been experimenting on pets for awhile without us being aware of it.

I an sorry for the 3 officers the last 8 months from corona. They averaged just over the age of 50 and had some oretry bad preexisting conditions. If you make a personal medical decision to opt out, it is your right, and I would fully expect those who officially opt out, to have any exposure and/or IOD denied by the Department/City because you opted out of their inoculation. Weighing the risk-benefit factors is a personal decision, one you should consider amd get more info from your personal doctor who knows your individual health conditions. I highly recommend you analyze thd infor and decide if the risk of the vaccine is worth it. Do not let the Department or the politicians decode that for you, and do not let them take away your rights to have all health care costs covered for duty related exposures and the illnesses that may be caused by them. If you opt out, it's like signing a contract waiving those rights. Tread carefully.
You have a 99.97% chance of surviving the virus. That means the vaccine needs to have less than .03% chance of damaging or killing me. I'd also have to trust the same companies that wouldn't release the vaccine without the federal government giving them immunity for damages caused by it. Here’s a little snippet for you troll, my elderly mother was told by her immunologist to not get the vaccine until they work out the kinks. Another high risk friend in his 60’s was told to not get the vaccine. There are plenty of healthcare professionals who don’t trust this vaccine- anywhere from 29% to 40% according to a LA Times article. So, I guess we are just supposed to take your word for it. I'm nearly 66 and got the first Moderna shot 10 days ago. I'd never had any kind of flu shot. I was slightly fatigued and had a sore upper arm and shoulder, mainly when I moved or lifted it, for just under two days. There was no fever. That's it. Since then, I've felt completely normal. The nurse said the reaction to the second shot in 18 days might be more pronounced than the reaction to the first one. But nurses don't know everything. She also said the first one only "prepared" my system, and the second one would actually deliver the protection. Additional research is called for, but be careful about total anti-vax websites. Vaccines can save lives. Polio, smallpox, influenza, HPV and other diseases were fought successfully with vaccines.

Rush nurse here. We were also asked to formally "opt out". Unlike the flu vaccine, which has been around since the 40s, we are not required to take the covid vaccine just to keep our job.
