LAPD Story Gets Better

It wasn't just 100 impounds - it was over 200:

  • The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) made a big statement about street takeovers this weekend as more than 150 officers were deployed to a lawless meetup in a residential Los Angeles neighborhood around 2 a.m. Saturday, where they made 69 arrests, issued 570 citations, and impounded more than 200 vehicles.

Seven firearms were also discovered in what the LAPD called “Operation Street Sweeper” in the Harbor Gateway area of south L.A.

In total, [LAPD Chief] McDonnell said 66 people were arrested for participating in or aiding in a street race or takeover. Three additional arrests were made: one for assaulting an officer, one for battery and one for obstructing or interfering with officers.

In addition to the nearly 70 arrests, 570 citations were issued, McDonnell said. Of those 570 citations, 442 were issued for being a spectator at a speed contest or exhibition of speed. An additional 128 citations were issued for juveniles who were out past the city of Los Angeles’ 10 p.m. curfew for minors. McDonnell said the youngest person was just 11 years old.

If they actually collect the fines on the tickets and they turn the two-hundred cars into metal hay bales, they might see a sharp downturn in street takeovers. They had to get clearance from the dumbocrats running LA, so it is possible this might happen.

Conehead is a spineless wonder though, so don't expect it here.

Old Story

But recently brought to our attention - this is why the lib-tarded idea of "violence interrupters" is among their dumbest thoughts ever:

  • Democrat leaders in Massachusetts implemented ‘social workers’ to go on police calls to ‘de-escalate’ situations

One of them was just attacked after spending 45 minutes trying to talk to the suspect.

A mental health clinician was knocked to the ground and an officer was stabbed in the arm with a sword after 45 minutes was spent trying to talk the suspect into coming out peacefully for help.

Critics saying that the ‘social worker’ program is putting both the clinician’s and police officers in danger.

It is almost a certainty that the Officer got stabbed because he had to split his attention between the assailant with the sword and the social worker being attacked. Lord know what would have happened if the Officer winged the social worker while saving their life.

And imagine if Massachusetts had a COPA.

The email claimed that shortly after this incident, Massachusetts either discontinued the program or social workers were refusing to go to these calls without a heavy police presence.

LAPD Takes Streets Back

Conehead take note. Waller, you too.

Maybe Dart and ISP Kelly can hop on board:

  • Cops sprung a massive sting on alleged street-racing hooligans in South Los Angeles early Saturday — reportedly detaining hundreds and preparing to haul away scores of vehicles.

The Los Angeles Police Department told The California Post that officers issued a tactical alert at 3:21 a.m. and were still working the scene hours later, as of 9 a.m.

No details were immediately available on arrests or citations from the LAPD.

Video from the scene showed dozens of officers surrounding a massive crowd as people wandered between cars trapped at the intersection of South Figueroa Street and West Alondra Boulevard. Tow trucks stood by, ready to pounce.

At last report, around 300 participants were detained AND OVER 100 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED.

Back when impounds were a thing (and snow tows) every vehicle towed was tagged with something like $150 in fines, another $50 in towing fees, and an initial $10 daily storage fee which was increased by $10 a day afterwards.

That's a quick $21K in a single incident.

Now do this a of couple weekends in a row and suddenly Conehead's budget deficit starts to shrink, his approval rating goes up, and CTA revenues....well, they stay the same as those morons will just wave the shitheads through.

Follow That Car!

Remember this Training Bulletin?

Seems like Houston PD has found a way around it:

  • A Houston Uber driver was caught "off guard" but kept his cool when two police officers jumped into his vehicle and directed him to chase a suspect fleeing on foot, wild dashcam video shows.

Anthony Baines said he was driving for Uber at about 12:20 a.m. Aug. 8 in a Houston Heights neighborhood, when a shirtless man ran across the street in front of his vehicle with two Houston Police Department officers close behind, according to Storyful.

The video shows Baines getting waved down by an officer and stopping as she approaches and hops into the front passenger seat.

The attached four-second video from the link is amusing, with one cop jumping in the front seat, picking up her partner and then directing the Uber driver to follow a running subject.

If it all goes south, just blame the Uber guy.

Criminal Geniuses

We're surprised this hasn't happened here:

  • A massive street takeover in California led to a family-run business being overrun by looters over the weekend. During the alleged takeover, A-Z Market convenience store in Bellflower was broken into. The city is in southeast Los Angeles.

A fundraiser for the family said, "A group of individuals used power tools to break through our front window and security gate." Surveillance video showed three suspects using tools to break the window's glass and cut a security gate lock, allowing up to 40 additional suspects to enter and ransack the business for two minutes before blending back into the takeover crowd, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

So they didn't just block the streets - they blocked them strategically, knowing police couldn't (or wouldn't) enforce anything without plenty of warnings and public announcements via loudspeakers. Then they used power tools and the absence of any law enforcement to systematically loot the business, all while dozens of getaway cars were just doing their street takeover crap before fading away into the crowd.

Of course, if the business doesn't re-open in short order, they'll complain about a "food desert" or something similar.

But knowing that CPD isn't permitted to take enforcement action AND isn't allowed to chase, and after years of non-prosecution and a SAFE-T Act that frees criminals even before the Arresting Officers' shift is over, this ought to be a regular occurrence the way that driving stolen cars into storefronts was a thing just a few years ago.

New Meaning to "Tree Police"

They never had this job around when we were rookies:

  • Drivers could not beat around the bush when it came to being charged with distracted driving in a New Jersey suburb this week as a cop disguised himself as a shrub to spot motorists on their phones while behind the wheel.

The Dunellen police officer camouflaged himself and employed a pair of binoculars to covertly execute  the distracted-driving enforcement operation in the town of 8,000 about 30 miles from New York City.

There's even a picture:

We'd agree with arguments that this is nothing more than a money grab by the Dunellen, New Jersey PD and local government (the fines start at $200 and escalate from there). But we've also seen more than enough distracted drivers hitting, injuring and killing people to say something ought to be done.

Nationwide Shortage

We've been commenting on the shortages for years now.

L.A. is putting numbers out there:

  • The Los Angeles Police Department’s officer shortage has gone from bad to worse — with the city’s top cop revealing that he has lost hundreds of officers in recent months while trying bolster the beleaguered force by a staggering 4,000 more.

LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell exclusively told The California Post that the department’s uniformed force currently stands at about 8,550, down about 200 officers from February when the LAPD had more than 8,700 cops.

McDonnell also revealed that the LAPD currently needs about 12,500 cops to ideally safeguard the city, updating a previous estimate of about 12,000 officers that he cited to the Post in February.

That's what....a 33% shortage, give or take a few?

Always the blue city / blue state $hitholes.

Stupid Cheeseheads

Once again, you have to wonder about the "heroes" the leftists create - ILLEGAL ALIENS, dope addicts, murderers, rapists, etc. They're at it again in Cheeseland:

  • The mother of a man shot and killed by Madison police said Corey Ruiz was an exceptional man who loved his daughter and the rest of his family.

"He was my love. He loved his daughter, he loved his family. He did not deserve to be taken out like that. They took my baby from me," his mother Elsa Ruiz said, breaking down in tears. She said she never imagined she would be burying her son.

The emotional news conference Thursday marked the first time the family has made a public statement since Ruiz, 38, was killed on a busy city street on Wednesday. Police say Ruiz pulled a knife during a struggle with four officers, injuring one of them. That officer then fired the shots, according to police.

Wah wah wah. "He had a family" seems to be a common refrain among these idiots.

You know what else he had?

  • Court records show Ruiz had been in and out of jail over the past decade on charges including failing to pay child support, driving a vehicle without consent, jumping bail, threatening authorities, taking a vehicle without consent, possessing drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and retail theft.

A real hero of the lib-tards there.....and oh yeah....this time he had a knife, wounding an Officer.

You know who never seems to get shot?

  • people who DON'T try to stab Police Officers.
  • people who DON'T attempt to disarm Police Officers.
  • people who DON'T make the effort to run Police Officers over with automobiles

 It's funny how that works.

It's NOT a Toy, Dumbasses

You're supposed to be professionals:

  • Newly released dashcam video shows a Pasadena police officer getting shot by a fellow officer in what the police chief described as a "horseplay" incident.

The footage, taken inside a Pasadena police parking garage, captures a patrol car pulling up behind two officers standing near another vehicle. One of the officers standing outside is seen quickly drawing his gun and pointing it at the officer in the patrol car. After a few seconds, he re-holsters the weapon.

The video does not show what happens next, but the police chief said the officer seated in the patrol car also drew a gun, which discharged. The bullet traveled through the windshield and struck the other officer in the shoulder.

The shooting happened last September, but the department released the video Wednesday.

That seems to fall far outside the recognized definition of "horseplay." And the narrative indicates there are TWO morons here who shouldn't be trusted anywhere near firearms, let alone carrying them as part of their jobs.

You don't draw a loaded weapon and point it at someone or something you aren't willing to shoot in the defense of yourself or others - LEAST OF ALL at a fellow officer.

Out of State Corruption

What's with the crooked brass lately?

  • The police chief of New Chicago, Indiana, was taken into custody in Ohio and is accused of stealing a gun tied to a criminal investigation and selling it to a pawn shop.

Earl Mayo, 45, was arrested Friday in Clark County, Ohio after he tried to evade arrest. He leads the New Chicago Police Department in Lake County, Indiana.

Mayo, who wrote a self-published novel about a bad cop turned good, titled, “When Lines Are Crossed: Love, Trust, Betrayal,” is facing seven felony charges, including theft, official misconduct, attempted obstruction of justice and unlawful possession of anabolic steroids.

That guy sounds like a piece of work.

How about this one?

  • Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara, who was hired to oversee reforms in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing, chose to resign rather than face disciplinary action for interfering with an investigation into his conduct, Mayor Jacob Frey announced Tuesday.

O’Hara, who led local police during the recent federal immigration crackdown in the city, was under investigation on accusations that he was engaging in intimate relationships with city employees.

Investigative interference? Intimate relationships? That's almost like a requirement here.

Don't Demonize the Dog

Must have been a Chicago rescue dog:

  • A woman in Nebraska was injured after a dog inside a nearby truck accidentally fired a shotgun, sending a pellet into her arm.

Police in Scottsbluff responded to reports of a shooting at a gas station on May 22, initially believing a BB gun was involved. However, officers later confirmed that a real shotgun had discharged from inside a parked truck with a camper attached.

Investigators said the truck owner had gone inside the convenience store while a passenger stood outside the vehicle. A dog remained in the back seat near a loaded shotgun.

According to police, the dog moved across the truck and accidentally triggered the firearm, causing it to fire through the passenger-side door.

Who's riding around with a loaded shotgun where a dog can walk on it anyway?

ShotSpotter Deactivated Again

This time at Harvard - guess why?

  • The Cambridge City Council narrowly voted Monday to end the city’s use of ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system that has drawn years of criticism from residents and councilors over privacy concerns and potential data-sharing with federal authorities.

The policy order, which passed in a 5-2-2 vote, directs City Manager Yi-An Huang ’05 to remove and disable ShotSpotter devices across Cambridge within 90 days of signing the measure.

More than 30 residents urged the Council to cancel the city’s contract with SoundThinking, ShotSpotter’s parent company, during public comment Monday. They argued that the system is inaccurate, intrusive, and incompatible with Cambridge’s surveillance and sanctuary city ordinances.

So ILLEGAL ALIENS are tracked by ShotSpotter? Who knew besides Conehead?

We guess it's okay for ILLEGAL ALIENS to shoot guns?

Shades of Yummy

You bring too much heat, you're going to get burned, this time in Texas:

  • A teenage fugitive being hunted for the September murder of a 17-year-old girl has been found shot dead in his bullet-riddled car.

Deshawn Suggs, 18, was the sole suspect in the murder of Alianna Ujueta, 17, who was shot in the head while leaving a house party in San Antonio, Texas, nearly four months ago.

A warrant was issued for Suggs’ arrest in November — but he was not found until early Saturday, when he was found dead in a car on San Antonio’s Far West Side.

Texas might have convicted him, perhaps even executed him in the future, but this way is much more .... efficient (?) for all involved.

Let's see if it catches on.

This Might Work

It'll never happen in a blue state blue city shithole, but it's a workable solution:

  • Washington, DC's solution: Officials said a focal point of the summer surge will be crushing the "teen takeovers" that have terrorized D.C. neighborhoods and shut down local businesses.

Blasting the D.C. Council for "refusing to deal with the problem, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced a zero-tolerance policy that shifts the legal burden onto the parents of delinquent youth.

Starting immediately, federal prosecutors will charge parents under a D.C. statute for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Parents who drop their kids off, fail to supervise them or allow them to skip school to participate in the chaos will face fines, court-mandated classes and up to six months in jail.

And if you tie the arrests to a denial of Federal benefits, it would disappear overnight.

News coverage here.

Gee, I Should Have Cooperated

Regret is a terrible thing....so is being a moron in the first place:

  • A New York woman who refused to cooperate with prosecutors after a mental patient attacked her on the subway weeks before he pushed a retired NYC teacher to his death appears to have some serious regrets.

“Maybe a part of me was just like, I don’t want to put another black man in jail,” the unidentified 23-year-old told the New York Post over the weekend.

Now, however, she is saying, “I regret it 100 percent and feel really bad that a man lost his life.”

Obviously a liberal retard, brainwashed by years of left wing ideologues, typical of blue-city clue-state shitholes where consequences are not applied to actions.

We've had local stories like this for years, dating back to when Mope-rah (remember her stupid ass?) refused to help prosecute a car thief caught red-handed in her car, all the way up to last year when ABC's Leah Hope was carjacked and beaten to the point she couldn't be on the air for six weeks....AND SHE BLAMED THE SYSTEM, not the guy who almost broke her jaw in half.

Not much sympathy for those who embrace the narrative and expect us to do the same.

More Dems Loving Criminals

This time revealed in North Carolina during COVID:

  • A New York Post investigation has revealed that nearly half of the convicts sprung from North Carolina prisons under then-Democrat Governor Roy Cooper during the COVID-19 pandemic have already been charged with new crimes, including a staggering 18 murder offenses.

According to the Post’s review of state records, at least 3,500 dangerous criminals were released in February 2021 as part of a little-known settlement between Cooper’s administration and radical civil rights groups, including the ACLU and NAACP.

These groups sued to force the early release of inmates, claiming the pandemic posed too great a risk to keep them locked up.

The results? Predictable carnage on North Carolina streets.

Over 600 of the released felons committed....MORE FELONIES!

Fully 48% committed more crimes in all categories.

Beware the hantavirus cruise infections being used to political ends at some point.

How Bad Is It? (Washington)

This bad:

  • Washington just became the first state in U.S. history to terminate a public employee pension plan.

The plan belongs to retired police officers and firefighters. LEOFF Plan 1 was 160% funded as of June 2024 per the state's own actuarial valuation. It had not required a single contribution in 25 years. By 2029 it was projected to reach 200% funded with a $4.3 billion surplus.

The legislature terminated the plan, swept $3.9 billion, and is using $880 million of it to refill a rainy day fund it already drained to cover a deficit it created.

Days ago, retired first responders including former Congressman Dave Reichert sued the state to stop it. The bill passed the House 55-39 and was advanced out of Appropriations without a public hearing. Every yes vote was a Democrat. The governor signed it in April.

Our pension never hit anything near 100%. We think (think) it may have been funded at or near 75% back around 2000, but then Shortshanks invented pension "holidays," refused to follow actuarial funding recommendations, and redirected spending toward pet projects to buy votes, thereby leading to the current crises.

In Washington, they're just stealing the surplus instead of going through the actuarial recommendations, which will most likely lead to a funding shortfall within a few years.

How Bad Is It? (Los Angeles)

This bad:

  • As of today, LAPD is not allowed to pull anyone over for:
  • - Expired tags
  • - Non-functioning tail lights
  • - Cracked windshield
  • - Broken sideview mirrors
  • - Illegal tint
  • - Loud exhaust
  • - Missing license plate
  • Because it "disproportionately affects Black and Brown people."

Exactly what the democrats are trying to do here.

At least there's a list that LAPD can refer to so as to determine which Laws the "oppressed" people don't have to obey.

In the meantime, we'd be taking suspension time for more than a couple of these violations.

DC Brass Being Fired

That post we have a few days ago about Washington DC bosses falsifying crime data is having real world fallout (click for larger view):

Now imagine if that sort of accountability was enacted here. There might be a shortage of "merit" bodies to fill all the holes.

No Bail Fail....in New York

Looks like this "no cash bail" thing is a failure everywhere:

  • Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch released new crime statistics indicating that, compared to last April, crime in New York City last month was down 9.5% overall.

That is very good news, and kudos are due to her and to the men and women of the NYPD.

But before we start popping the champagne corks, we have to understand that comparing statistics year over year obscures the real crime story in NYC.

You really have to compare crime in NYC pre-bail reform to crime post-bail reform.

Crime in NYC began its historic rise not last April but in 2019 when bail reform was passed, releasing thousands of career criminals onto our streets.

While murders are down 14% from April 2019 to April 2026, robberies are up 8.8%, grand larcenies are up 9.4%, felony assaults up 50% and auto theft a whopping 171%.

We are seven years into this bail reform “experiment” and felony index crime overall is up over 26% from what it was before the law passed

CWB recently did a piece about how crime was actually up after the yearly stats caught up with the warming weather, and we really hate to ask their number crunchers to dig deeper, but....

  • What are the chances of a New York Post-type comparison, i.e. before and after SAFE-T Act numbers?

The best way (in our opinion) to get a look at trends is (A) year over year or (B) after some significant event that altered behaviors. In this case, we'd look at:

  • the election of Crimesha and her non-prosecution of felony cases
  • COVID interruptions to crime
  • SAFE-T Act implementation

Numbers on both sides of those significant events would expose a lot of number manipulation and more than a few lies.
