We're surprised this hasn't happened here:
A massive street takeover in California led to a family-run business being overrun by looters over the weekend. During the alleged takeover, A-Z Market convenience store in Bellflower was broken into. The city is in southeast Los Angeles.
A fundraiser for the family said, "A group of individuals used power tools to break through our front window and security gate." Surveillance video showed three suspects using tools to break the window's glass and cut a security gate lock, allowing up to 40 additional suspects to enter and ransack the business for two minutes before blending back into the takeover crowd, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.
So they didn't just block the streets - they blocked them strategically, knowing police couldn't (or wouldn't) enforce anything without plenty of warnings and public announcements via loudspeakers. Then they used power tools and the absence of any law enforcement to systematically loot the business, all while dozens of getaway cars were just doing their street takeover crap before fading away into the crowd.
Of course, if the business doesn't re-open in short order, they'll complain about a "food desert" or something similar.
But knowing that CPD isn't permitted to take enforcement action AND isn't allowed to chase, and after years of non-prosecution and a SAFE-T Act that frees criminals even before the Arresting Officers' shift is over, this ought to be a regular occurrence the way that driving stolen cars into storefronts was a thing just a few years ago.

It has happened here remember when the black kids had a “gathering” in the loop and a 7-11 was ransacked and picked clean by the “churns” and Brandon scolded the news saying “don’t demonized the yutes, there just cheruns” . They totally destroyed a man’s business and livelihood.
Plate glass only exists by virtue of an operative social contract.
So, you pay for police protection through your taxes and when you need it, you're left on your own, and your business is looted and destroyed. Then, you have to depend on what insurance you may have and a fundraiser to make things right? Kinda sounds like what the Mob would do. Charge you for protection from the crime they created and then offer no protection.
It won't change until the citizens change it.

IMO there is most probably a racial/ethnic component to this and other organized break-ins, looting.

The lootings and shoplifting sprees are a critical component to destroying capitalism. When businesses are taxed to the point of almost non existence and relief from police is deterred, expect a food or merchandise desert. Businesses can rely on government entities to protect their business interests. Government protects their own regulatory controls, vilification of actual entrepreneurs identifying the inequities of the non producing class, using profit incentives as an evil, absolute controlling power and the ability to tax a business into submission.

Other items such as consumer electronics, anything of resale value or cash in the register is strictly off limits by these honest shoplifters..
