Chicago police shot and killed a dog that attacked them while the officers were working on an investigation in the Humboldt Park neighborhood Monday, police said.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the officers were in the 700 block of North Christiana Avenue when a dog approached and attacked an officer, they said. One of the officers then shot the dog.
The dog died, and the city’s Department of Animal Care and Control was notified.
Three officers were taken to nearby hospitals in good condition. No other injuries were reported.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.

I get butterflies in my stomach anytime a pitbul gets shot. These killing machines ripped my buddy’s dog into pieces and skinned his elderly mother’s back as she helplessly tried to protect her little doggy. Great job officers! hopefully the round paralyzed the little bastard. More please.

This HAVE changed...
25 years or so as a suburban copper, a pit bull attacked a child...when I got there, it came after me, and I dropped it cold with 2 rounds.
My Chief's comment was, "Good shooting," and told me to take the next day off if I felt upset.
Nowadays, I would probably be stripped pending investigation, the owner would be compensated for their loss, and I would have to go to sensitivity training if it was a dog of color.
