Saving Conehead an uncomfortable spike in crime numbers:
A group of suspects broke into at least 41 vehicles in a South Side parking lot early Saturday morning, Chicago police said. At least 28 more vehicles were also broken into at another parking lot nearby shortly after.
Police said the first crime happened in the Bronzeville neighborhood near East 33rd and South State streets just before 2:15 a.m. Four people in a black SUV approached the lot, where they broke 41 vehicles' windows. Police said it was not immediately clear whether any property was taken. The suspects fled the scene in their SUV.
[...] Then, around 3:10 a.m., a group of three suspects in a dark-colored Jeep SUV caused damage to at least 28 vehicles at a nearby parking lot in the 3200 block of South King Drive, CPD said. It was also not known if any property was taken from these vehicles, but some break-in victims also reported to ABC7 that no items were taken from their vehicles.
So almost seventy incidents of Criminal Damage, no reports of any Thefts at the moment, all summarized as two incidents. That's it.
Two is way better than seventy for Conehead.

Two rd numbers that will be case suspended also. Big waste of time to even make out the report if they won’t do it the right way and make an rd number for each incident. But that’s way too much work to do for these new coppers and call back!!

I be looking at the car repair shops in the neighborhood. Any good video of the offenders? Window replacements are a couple hundred bucks each, which is usually below any insurance deductible (as if they have insurance) so all-cash repair jobs. Doubt it was just vandalism- it’s always about the Benjamin’s. Happened up in 016 years ago just that way.

In the mid 1990’s we still had experienced policemen who couldn’t figure that one out.
Alot of you obviously dont know how to take reports. Same incident, same address, same RD.. with multiple victims.

You dont pull separate RDs for each person shot at the same address... matter of fact you dont pull multiple RDs for multiple people shot at different address if they are all the same incident.

Reported crime is down. Not crime. Most victims have nothing resolved so the next incident goes unreported. The victims eventually just move out of discussed.
It's the NIBRS reporting guidelines. Sprees are counted as one incident

Actually you are somewhat right. Yes as for the shooting incident it would be 1 report but with the theft or burglary it depends where it happened. On the street it is multiple RDs and if it’s in a lot it’s 1 RD.
No conspiracy here and either none of you are the police or never bothered to read the field reporting manual. Multiple vehicles parked in off street public or private lot = one report. Multiple vehicles on a public street = one report per vehicle. An exact example is given in the manual.
