Fundraiser Coverage

The photos included in the coverage are heartbreaking:

  • Nearly five months after Chicago police officer Nelson Crespo was critically wounded in a shooting that took the life of his partner John Bartholomew, he made his first public appearance at a fundraiser.

On April 25, Crespo and Bartholomew were with 26-year-old Alphanso Talley while he prepared for a CT scan at Swedish Hospital when Talley reached for a gun underneath a blanket after his handcuffs were taken off and shot the officers.

Bartholomew was killed in the shooting. Crespo has been paralyzed from the shoulders down and has spent months recovering.

Crespo was greeted by family, friends, and Chicago first responders during a fundraiser Friday in his honor at Old Crow Smokehouse in Wrigleyville.

Continue to keep Officer Crespo in your thoughts and prayers and if you are able, help out via any means possible.

Nelson always had his charming smile on anytime we met, simply an all around sweet guy. Hoping for a miracle that returns him to comfortable
days ahead

All the politicians show up to get their photo opportunities. Insane and impossible policies to work under have ruined this profession and have created too many dead and injured police officers. I have lots of hate for the politicians, judges and leftists who have created this environment. I hope there's a day of reckoning and revenge that comes for them on a dark horse. Seeing these photos evokes that kind of anger. God bless him as he continues to recover and God give his family and friends strength to help him.

By any chance was the inspector Yolanda banks there ghost writing people for uniform infractions? She was at the door at HQ for mexican independence deployment writing names and sending writeups later. She once said in a roll call "I don't care if you have kids, a flat tire, or family issues, the job comes 1st" as She always said "ama see ya a lil later" clownshow

Never be convenient to a prisoner in custody. Follow the bullshit rules/policies given the circumstance, do thorough searches and keep the upper hand on these potential killers. Been there, done that, made mistakes but always remember our mistakes have horrific outcomes. Don't give them an inch.

No poster so far has written anything about the pain Officer Crespo has endured which includes the murder of his partner---and there have ten times as many postings about the drama at the FOP meeting. You people really need to grow up. As an old retiree, I salute my brave brother in Blue whom I admire for his resiliency, toughness, and courage. Hang in there Officer Hector Crespo, you are a true hero.

Besides his commander, I don’t think a single exempt showed up. Not one.
Think of that the next time you go out there trying to get numbers. The upper echelon do not even care enough to show up for something like this.

was she related to commander banks. he was a nice man. was she merit? FOIA the GPS records of her police car? what a waste of tax dollars, Captain to write up uniform infractions. Inspector position should be filled by a sergeant from District Patrol with at least 5 years' experience. If yolo is out of uniform, make a complaint to the superintendent.
