Severely injured while on vacation, the family needs some help getting him back here for appropriate treatment:

• A Lake Forest police officer is in critical condition after being severely injured while on vacation and his family is working to raise money to have him brought home from Nicaragua by medical transport.

  Lake Forest Police Officer Filip Czarnecki was on a personal vacation visiting family in Nicaragua.

  Czarnecki suffered a “tragic fall” onto his head that caused a severe traumatic brain injury, according to Lake Forest resident Paul Daizovi, who is a friend and co-worker of Czarnecki’s wife.

As you may guess, hospital care in the part of the world isn't as top-notch as here. There's a Go Fund Me up for the transportation costs to get a medicare flight home.

They're close to the finish line for fundraising and a little push will get Officer Czarnecki home to be with his family and at an appropriate facility for care.
