How Many Years?
There's definitely a memo floating around about judicial sentencing in Cook County:
A 68-year-old Chicago man has been sentenced to 76 years in federal prison for robbing or attempting to rob four downtown banks over two months in 2023 while he was on supervised release for previous bank robbery convictions. Prosecutors had asked for “only” 20 years.
Joseph Donelson Jr. committed the four crimes just months after being released from prison for an earlier series of bank robberies, prosecutors said, adding that during the 2023 spree, Donelson jumped onto a teller counter during one attempted robbery, pointed a “gun-like object” at a teller during another robbery and struck a teller in the face with the object during a fourth incident.
So pretty much a life sentence for this old fart.
Glad to see it, but this kind of sentencing probably won't last past the elections.

Club fed can have a heavy sentence hand. Makes me nervous for after ejection er election season or is this fed judge simply encouraging local judges that ferals can be held a long time?

It's the federal system, so Trump people are the prosecutors, and federal sentencing guidelines, especially for repeat offenders, are tough. This judge is also a Trump appointee, which helps.
Having said all that, it sounds like ol'boy was trying his best to get back in the federal joint. He can get sent to an age-appropriate facility, then when his health declines, he can get better medical care than on the outside. CC, JSM

What the heck is a “gun-like object?”
John Hinckley Jr. shot a sitting president and one of his guards and was found not guilty by reason of insanity. He was confined to St. Elizabeth's Hospital for 35 years and is now a free man living in Williamsburg, VA. This guy robbed some banks and gets 76 years.
The (not so) great, great grandpa's of these out of control yoots that are doing all the car jacking, stealing cars, robberies, burglaries and shootings. If great, great grandpa is still doing licks, these little hood heathens have a solid 40 - 50 years worth of crime in them. I can only imagine where and what great grandpa, grandpa and dad must be upto. What a legacy. A normal person might be embarrassed or ashamed. Head on a swivel boys and girls. Whatch out for 68 year old heathens.

Interesting about the FBI’s effectiveness in catching bank robbers probably 90% of bank robberies are committed by previous bank robbers. Couldn’t they figure out he was a local guy after repeated bank robberies by the same guy. Maybe look up previous bank robbers in the area. They supposedly have great forensics and a great crime lab.
