• A proposal to move the Chicago White Sox from Rate Field in Bridgeport to a new riverfront stadium in the South Loop is drawing mixed reactions from fans and elected officials as the team considers the concept as a potential future ballpark site.

  Developer Canal Edge recently unveiled renderings for "The Railyards," a proposed mixed-use development near Roosevelt Road and Canal Street that would include a possible new home for the White Sox, along with residential, commercial and retail components and an outpatient care center for Northwestern Medicine.

  The proposal remains in its early stages.

Someone had an opinion piece up that this would signal the end of Bridgeport.

We don't know about that, but the reason Wrigley Field does so well is there's somewhere to go before and after the games, namely the bar and restaurant scene.

One of the major reasons there Bears were looking to move is to build a large bar and restaurant scene within walking distance of the new stadium instead of a museum campus with zero amenities.

The Blackhawks are making semi-steady progress with their property on the west side as they price the undesirable elements out of the neighborhood. Give it another twenty years.
