"They're Picking on Us!"
The city is cracking down on a certain nightclub - gotta be racist you know:
- A Chicago nightclub is saying enough is enough.Nouveau Tavern was already vandalized with the N-word, but managers say the city is also harassing them, and they’re suing.
Planters decorate the front of the 400 North Ontario apartment building, which was replaced after cell phone video from last weekend captured workers sweeping up broken planters and witnesses explaining who did it: two Caucasian males.
The next night, Nouveau filed a police report when a manager parked in front of the apartment building and found her car covered with raw eggs. And then Thursday morning workers were greeted by racial slurs sprayed across the front of the building.
The club has filed a lawsuit against the city for, among several allegations, pulling the club’s liquor license for a weekend; “conducting unfounded over-crowding investigations”; and using tactics “clearly meant to harass, intimidate.”
The lawsuit specifically names Ald. Brendan Reilly.
Problems establishments create their own problems and overreaction from the neighborhood is bound to occur if the problems are unaddressed...or appear to be unaddressed.
- Four men were shot — one fatally — at a lounge early Sunday in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
The men were inside the lounge in the 8300 block of South Halsted about 2:40 a.m. when someone inside a passing vehicle fired shots into the club, police News Affairs [...] said.
A 30-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, authorities said. His name and home address were not being released Sunday afternoon.
So...can we expect a civil discourse regarding this club? Or will the neighborhood react the same? Differently? Might we have a serious discussion at some point? Or is someone else going to sue the city because their clientele just can't behave?

Yeah, they're probably picking on you. Get your act together. People who pay high taxes and high rents have to get up in the morning and go to work.
They don't want the noise, the criminal element or the grief.

Is it even necessary that these establishments be open during the wee hours of the morning? Sounds like asking for trouble. I doubt that the element prowling the the streets at 0230 hours is up to any good.

The first club in question probably paid some knuckleheads to do the damage do deflect the justifiable heat they've been getting for their fucked up clientele.

These are all potential E2 nightclubs. They have high powered investors who are politically conected. It's only a matter of time before the patrons are piled like cordwood again. Still the funniest scene from all that idiocy.
The club simply attracts stupid people who think they can bring their ghetto mentality to downtown.
This same ghetto gangbanging mentality is the reason why once safe and prosperous neighborhoods on the south and we sides are destroyed wastelands.

I don't buy for one second that this so called witness saw "two Caucasians" vandalizing. Sounds like they are trying to create sympathy by pulling out that oh so familiar race card.

The minute I read this, I suspected that the club probably out these bozos up to vandalizing their establishment to built a case for racism to either get them off the hook or lay the groundwork to sue the city for damages. How coincidental is the timing of this incident? What a bunch of b.s.! I hope the city has a good case against them.

Ha. Remember the assault on St. Sabina's? Someone very carefully hung a T-shirt on the outside metal handles of heavy steel doors in a brick wall, and lit it. I think it left a little soot there.

Maybe things are changing with the city and its license commission? Because, I can recall, and not too long ago during Daley's regime, that many of these clubs were virtually untouchable, no matter what occurred on the premise, from violence, to unlicensed strip shows to charging admission with a PPA license to every many of violation of every city ordinance. The reason? The clubs were owned by people who were connected to city officials. You could write all the citations that you wanted to and nothing ever happened at the license commission. It was all for show.

Come on now; it's at the corner of Ontario and Ohio St.
Nothing more satisfying that sticking a ticket on the window of dude's pimped out car for any type of violation. Revenue will boot them, cook county court just releases them.
OT: Would someone please give Val Warner, the Oprah wannabe, her own black-awareness show somewhere? Today, on Windy City, we were treated to Gary's black mayor (a big deal being made of this) and interviews with Michael Jackson's mother, as well as the beatification of Michael Jackson. All this, because Gary is having a big Jackson memorial celebration soon. And that city has to go in and rehabilitate the block neighboring the Jackson home, because it's been neglected and uncared for.

That would be the 400 block of West Ontario St., but the actual address is more like 358 W. Ontario st. After working in that area for over 15 yrs. I can tell you that the people who live their are hard working, good people. They get up early in the morning to go the work, some work right out of their homes. Very politically liberal people yes, a little obnoxious about their dogs indeed, but not the kind of people who could utter the N-word let alone write it anywhere. I think someone is trying to Play poor victim and did it themselves. "Um, I'm just saying" .

No yuppie liberal in that neighborhood would have the testicular fortitude to destroy planters or commit a hate crime. Calling the police and Alderman incessantly, check. Politically incorrect and racist behavior, I call bullshit. The club promoters and owners are playing the victim role to avoid city fines and an inevitable shutdown due to malfeasance.

Activist Andrew Holmes says everybody wants to get involved when the police shoot someone but how about getting involved when that person gets a gun. Obviously the person has a gun and either a citizen called the police or the police saw him on patrol but either way they are just doing their job. Wow. Respect to you this day sir.

I had to go downtown to pick someone up at Union Station and wanted to catch the news in case something was going on down there. Used to watch 7's news at eleven on my rdo and turned 7 on out of habit.

I can shoot better drunk than these ghetto rats. I have been training on a pistol for over 40 years. It's automatic now. Regular practice. Retired now. If you ever read of some street thugs all shot with two in the chest and one in the face while trying to rob some old man, think of me.
I hope they start sending in all sorts of inspectors. Shame on them for making it a racial issue. Couldn't get a real lawyer to start a real litigation huh? Yes, real talk.
