Someone is Flipping

  • The alleged bagman in a $2 million bribery scandal over Chicago's red light camera contract is cooperating with federal authorities and has testified in the ongoing grand jury investigation, the Tribune has learned.

Martin O'Malley, 73, the Chicago-based consultant for Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. since the contract began in 2003, has admitted that much of the $2 million he was paid by the company was used as payoffs to a top city manager who oversaw the traffic camera program from the beginning, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Asked about O'Malley's cooperation agreement in an interview this week, his attorney acknowledged that O'Malley has testified before the grand jury and admitted his role in the alleged decadelong conspiracy. O'Malley, who is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bribery, is expected to eventually plead guilty in the case.
Seventy-three and looking at the remained of your life behind bars far from home refreshes a lot of memories and loosens the tongue. Besides, confession is said to be good for the soul. So who is he sweating?

It's a start.

Funny how out of SO MANY projects, this one may bear some fruit on routine payoffs and "deals".

When you think of ALL the "funny" deals, Redlight doesn't seem to make it even close to the top.

What about the Parking Meter deal? What about all the "contracts" handed out for Millennial Park? O'Hare?....the Olympics (that never happened)?

--------------------------------

Recognition? Recognition should also go to the parents for spending time with their kids and getting them into something where they can develop skills and get out of the two square miles they live in and see a totally different world.

Teamwork, responsibilities, some discipline, and a look at a totally different world.

That is part of what is lacking in many schools - activities where the kids can develop social skills, participate in contests, set goals and have responsibilities.

Sports, playing in a band, provides a huge amount of development. It's good the kids achieved something, but even more so - the parents achieved something as well - raising their kids right.

Congratulations to all.

Because the city is run by arrogant assholes. They are continuing to collect from the cameras while this plays out in the hope that the final judgment falls in their favor.

http://www.ijreview.com/2014/08/170048-star-witness-michael-brown-shooting-charged-theft-filing-false-police-report/

Dorian Johnson, the primary witness to the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, has an outstanding warrant for a 2011 theft in Jefferson City and pleaded guilty for filing a false police report related to that theft.
St. Louis ABC affiliate ABC 17 cross referenced Johnson’s name against several records and discovered the warrant.

Johnson will be the star witness for any potential prosecution proceedings against Officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of Brown. Johnson was walking with Brown when the shooting occurred.
He has already done multiple media appearances where he falsely claimed Brown was shot by Wilson in the back. He also has claimed that Brown never reached for Wilson’s gun, was “shot like an animal” and that Brown had his hands up and told Wilson he was unarmed.

Ever-helpful CNN is really digging, trying to finger Ferguson MO officer Darren Wilson for the people who marched in the street chanting "How do we want him? DEAD!"

Ferguson shooting: Where's Officer Darren Wilson?

By Fatih Karimi and Michael Pearson, CNN

updated 10:26 AM EDT, Fri August 22, 2014

"(CNN) -- As the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson calmed early Friday after nights of protests over the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teen, the question remains: Where's the police officer who pulled the trigger?

"Officer Darren Wilson, 28, shot Michael Brown on August 9. The shooting sparked days of violent protests in Ferguson as residents demanded his arrest.

"Separate federal and local investigations are under way, and Wilson -- who has received death threats -- has disappeared from public view.

"Here's what is known about his whereabouts.

"Where is he now?...

http://www.cnn.com/2014/08/22/us/ferguson-shooting-where-is-darren-wilson/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Reporters Karimi and Pearson should be reassigned to Iraq, to go knockin up doors asking, "Where is the leader of ISIS?"

I had a feeling when I first saw this team that some had CPD parents. All those kids seem like good kids with strong family support. Hopefully they can all withstand the peer pressure as they get older and stay on the right track. Lets face it - it is not easy growing up surrounded by gangs and drugs which I imagine some of those kids are. Strong family structure and good parenting make all the difference. So go JRW

ot you guys missed it. A certain alderman of lakeview stated if Chicago ever gets a casino that 100 percent of the funds should go toward the pension fund. He's got my vote!

8/20/2014 06:37:00 PM
Same alderman has been asking since J-Fled how many cops there really are by requesting # of uniform checks and officers paying into the pension fund, etc. Also gave Cozzi a job

Who is the alderman?

8/21/2014 08:49:00 AM
Lakeview alderman = Tom Tunney.

BTW, long before he was an alderman, he fed cops and family at Cook County when they were there 24/7 praying for Mike Ceriale to pull through. Always perplexed why cops who don't know him talk smack about him here. I've known him for 30 years -- been otj for 20 -- and he's always been supportive of CPD rank and file.

Tom Tunney also takes care of the police in the 019th District every Thanksgiving and Christmas with a Hugh Breakfast Spread.Staight up nice man to the police

Treated entire 017 3rd watch to Holiday buffet dinner last year. Sister of a cop on the watch had ordered it and Tunney wouldn't let her pay. Sounded like they've been friends since college.

OT: Regarding JRW baseball team.

If they would stop harping on the all black team and inner city team.....that's all they talk about. They are from Chicago so we should support them. Can you imagine if there was an all white team from Mt. Greenwood? How would the media report abou them? They would never mention race. Mary Mitchell would ask...Where is the diversity?

8/22/2014 07:46:00 AM

I've seen quite a bit of news coverage on them and I have not seen any harping on them being black and from the inner city yadda yadda. I heard a guy say so much is going on in Chicago right now that the team gives him hope and he's proud of them but that's about it. If there was an all white team from Mt. Greenwood they would still get coverage but probably not as much. Baseball is exactly as popular among blacks as it is with whites. That definitely is the source of some of the media attention. You rarely hear a black kid interested in baseball, let alone a league dominated by black players that compete on a national level. All in all ease up. This is great for the city and great for the kids.

"Geyser in the basement! These idiots just did a month long sewer project too. Unreal. This city really is a shit show"

8/22/2014 06:31:00 AM

Year 2001. Daley put "flow preventers" on the sewers to "hold the bad water on the streets." Then heavy rains, basements flooded like the end of the world. Just west of St. Adalbert's, it took a front-end loader and three "hired trucks" to clear ONE BLOCK worth of destroyed paneling, furnishings, carpeting, etc. from the alley.

Then 9/11.

Then Daley sent Bush to the Norwood "for lunch" on his way to O'Hare for the "We're flyin again" speech. I watched everyone turn out crying, waving flags, etc...and they forgot all about their damaged homes.

Daley used the Prez like a Kleenex to wipe up his local mess, and no one saw it.

A genuine, pathetic low point in 016...

can someone recommend the most comfortable and durable uniform pants and shirts. don't want to waist my money on crap

8/22/2014 01:54:00 AM

Just go to the FOP Fall uniform sale and buy anything that fits your rank, regardless of size or condition. No one on the job respects uniform codes anymore anyways. Save some money for Itunes.

How can anyone still think the Feds are legit after the premature pulling of the Blago wire? Feds will go after all the low hanging fruit like these dummies and the leave the rest alone.

Off Topic
SCC, I have worked in patrol in "high crime" areas for almost 20 years now. I am, as most of us are, disgusted by the national news treatment of Darren Wilson. This could have been any one of us. Where is the outrage by our local and national union leaders? Where are the letters to the editors of newspapers supporting this officer? Where are the news conferences? Where are the news stories stating Darren Wilson could have been my son? Where is the support by us, the police, and our families and loved ones? Where is our lobbying power to get politicians to support us instead of only being concerned for the "minority vote"? Imagine the horror this officer is living, his family is living, because he did what he had to do to go home! I am aware of the battle we face with the media but if we continue to do nothing to defend ourselves this will happen again and again.

Divert your gutter downspouts from going into your sewer to dumping out onto your lawn and street.
