So What?
- The 42-year-old Army veteran who scaled the White House fence Friday and got through the presidential residence's front doors had 800 rounds of ammunition in his car, prosecutors said in court Monday.
Omar J. Gonzalez was ordered held without bond Monday, pending an Oct. 1 detention hearing, after prosecutors argued he was a flight risk -- he is facing felony weapons charges in Wythe County, Virginia.
Federal prosecutor said Monday in court that Gonzalez had had a map with the White House circled during that incident.
Dude has problems. Everyone, from his friends to his ex-wife, all verify that he has major issues related to PTSD while overseas. He needs help, and lots of it. But instead of concentrating on that aspect of it, the headline literally screams, "He Had 800 Rounds in the Car!" But he didn't drive the car into the White House. He didn't have the rounds on him while trespassing (he had a pocket knife). If you read the article, there isn't even a mention of a gun being on scene. So what's he going to do? Throw the ammo people?
How about they get this guy some help, enforce the existing laws so he can't get a gun or ammo, maybe build the White House fence a little higher (or make a trench), get the Secret Service some caffeine and lock the front door?

Agree to disagree , that's beyond crazy !!!
The real story here should be how an army vet who has served this country in war is not being treated properly for his ptsd by the government that he fought for.
How many reporters today even know what a "round" is?
He can't even throw the ammo at people until he returns to his car.
As Obama demands that the security perimeter around the White House be expanded to banana republic dimensions, American taxpayers should be forced to give up their guns and depend on the broken US security apparatus for protection.
Yeah, right.
How come Joe Biden didn't step out on the front steps and pop off his shot gun a few times?
Can you have a clearer demonstration on how the VA system is still effed-up?
Nice spin on the story by the MSM tho. All diversions
I believe that the correct term is undocumented house guest.
"...So what's he going to do? Throw the ammo people?..."
Well, he has a very good throwing arm.
Strange a deluded possibly mentally ill man with a pocket knife climbs a fence and goes in the "Peoples' House". The media and our President go bonkers, like it was an invasion of the body snatchers. Yet, on our wide open southern border, dozens, even hundreds of very bad dudes, handened criminals, armed to the teeth walk across everyday. What does the President, the administration and the media have to say about it? Crickets.
The Secret Service was busy planning another brothel run where they were going to skip out on the bill.
Agreed. Get the guy some help.
Talk about ammunition. Went up to Gander Mountain in Kenosha and they did not have one box (50 rounds) of .22lR in the store. Asked the salesperson and he said they were getting calls from as far away as Louisiana from people looking for .22LR.
Didn't have much in other calibers either. One box of 9MM hollow points.
Fort Hood mess..
http://www.wnd.com/2014/09/key-fact-about-white-house-fence-jumper-revealed/
Since he didn't drive the car as he scaled the fence and he didn't materialize the car on the other side of the fence once he climbed it (beam me over, Scotty?), this is like connecting the dots between Navy Pier and the moon.
Sounds like the Secret Service is embarrassed and they're practicing Rahm's specialty - misdirection. Hey! Look over THERE, not at me.
Honest to God, where was their K9?
What a minute....there's a fence around the white house?
To keep people who aren't supposed to be there from getting in?
Then does that mean liberals are lying when the say a fence on our southern border won't work?
Yep totally noticed how the coverage of that has twisted around to guns & ammo. And his "dangerous" weapon you know that 2.5" pocket knife. I agree how about we found out why the this poor vet is living out of his car and what the "real reason" is he decided to stroll into the White House . I am sure he made some kind of statement or statements but those are being brushed aside to focus on alot of nothing. Seems if dude wanted he would have been armed but chose not to be. Get him some help
Keep up the great work my friend, it feels great to know there are CPD cops on the street who know and understand their oath.
Agreed. The 800 rounds is as irrelevant as can be.
Why do we need a fence around the White House for this President? He doesn't like fences, or enforcing them. If he won't prosecute people crossing our border, and jumping that fence ILLEGALLY, why should they enforce it at the White House? They don't care when others trespass all over the landowners property and destroy property in the border states.
OT:
Look for your boss to have a grabber when these start showing up...

Also the knife - a folding pocket knife described as "breach the White House grounds while armed with a deadly weapon." He didn't have it in his hands. He had it in his pocket. Hundreds of thousands of people carry pocket knives in their pockets. I thought it was a little melodramatic.
What would you expect of democratic liberals?
Just A Citizen Says: This situation is more about the inept Secret Service than anything else.
Well said.
Per the Sup a "round" is a free beer to your friends. Lol!
I have read that he voted for Obama, but I haven't been able to verify this from any fairly reputable (hahaha) source yet. It's perfectly possible. But if it were true, the MSM will never point that out, like they will the fact that he's a vet.
I saw a story the other day about an active army soldier who spent 40 months in infantry units in Afghanistan and Iraq. He tried to commit suicide and beat up his wife in a hostage situation in Alaska.
Local prosecutor charged him, but jury "nullified" and didn't find him guilty. Army took the case and sentenced him to eight years in Leavenworth. Guy clearly has PTSD and probably traumatic brain injury. Needs help....not a dishonorable discharge and prison.
The military and VA are screwing up and not helping people who served. There's a mini rebellion going on among some Army lawyers arguing that a better way has to be found to deal with these issues. One lawyer wrote an article that is getting national attention. I'm sure he will NOT be promoted next time before a promotion board.
Besides the issues of helping an injured vet one other thing comes to mind.
What the hell happens if 10 domestic or foreign terrorists jump the fence at the same time with rifles and grenades?
These idiots don't need to kill a President to claim victory. If even one were to get through a door and kill a group of janitors on their coffee break they would claim victory.
Build a twenty foot deep and wide trench if necessary and cover it with fake grass that can't hold the weight of an undersized human.
I wouldn't want the Secret Service mission. They have little room for error. A cop screws up and maybe he gets himself or another cop killed or perhaps a civilian. Secret Service screws up and historians 100 years from now are writing about it.

Yes they are, their coming here as part of the surge, where they'll concentrate on all the massage parlors and yell at the ladies so we don't have to.

Agreed.
800 rounds big deal. Most popular way they sell .22's is by the 500 round box. Let's concentrate instead on the poor state of the VA.
Ironic that this administration was nearly subjected to the consequences of their own maltreatment of our veterans. Workplace violence, nothing to see here

"...maybe build the White House fence a little higher.." -- SCC
Well, here's a second fence line for ya, guy.
http://tinyurl.com/n5scb56
A little lower, it is, but they sure got it up fast!
Now folks can lean on it with their cameras and ice cream cones and admire the spear points on top of the real fence.
I wonder if they sharpen those once in a while? Still laughing decades later about the scene in The Addams Family that showed Gomez up on a stepladder with a great big mill file, touching up his fence.
File a little, test the point with his finger, give it a few more...

...but I am already working with Vanecko Bamboo Supply to corner the market on prefab punji stakes for the bottom...
Good thing he wasn't dressed as a caddy yelling "just playing through!"
PTSD is an excuse that everyone uses when they do something wrong. I call bullshit !!!!
Like to be a fly on the wall during the next Metro DC compstat meeting.
He had a Boy Scout knife.
He was going to teach Barry how to play mummbley peg!
He never saw it growing up in Indonesia.
If you excuse his behavior due to PTSD then you have to excuse the behavior of criminals in the 'hood too. An 18 year old that has witnessed more murder and mayhem since they were 5 years old than some combat veterans have can claim PTSD also to excuse their criminality. The Secret Service should have lit him up. They killed a woman in a car with her baby, but this guy made inside the White House and not one shot was fired. BS!!

Oh yeah? I remember when they taught in the academy about the Vietnam Vet who would go off so watch out for Vietnam Vets with that wild look in their eyes. Only they didn't call it PTSD. It was just fucking crazy Vietnam Vet. Now they are all in their 60's and beyond and all the crazy ones are in jail, dead or carrying cardboard signs on expressway off ramps.
