Did You Vote?

You probably had to mail in your ballot yesterday for it to arrive in time for counting. If you brought it directly to the post office, it might get there in time, but we doubt it.

You cannot hand deliver it - the postmark acts as a validation of sorts, otherwise someone could bring a shitload of unfranked ballots to the count and claim they were hand delivering the decision in a box.

We believe your only option is to show up for provisional voting the morning of the count. Check the FOP site for times.

Dean Jr was again flapping his gums after a few too many cocktails saying it'll be the second or third Sgts class he'll be in so as to "not raise too much suspicion". Sr. obviously didn't teach him the finer points of knowing when to keep his mouth shut. Careful Jr., those places you frequent have ears, lots of ears. And public places are fair game for cameras. YouTube video in the very near future and I guarantee it will be better quality than the shit "Pops" put out trying to sell this bullshit contract.

I really believe there is some corruption going on with the voting in this contract ballot. I have spoken to many people who never received ballots or people who received them with false names. Not to mention retirees who received them and active members who had them sent them to other addresses. It's sad that most of these officers just don't care to notify the union or report in person to vote, assuming the next guy will. It's astonishing that this election was tainted before the ballots were even sent out, I mean how could they screw something so simple up, unless it was intentional? When there is zero oversight, shady things happen.

You ask how can they screw up something so simple as having the correct names and addresses on the ballots? It's because the civilian working is the office handling it is a morons. Dean's assistant with dark, ratty, curly hair. I can't think of her name (not that it matters) but we pay her salary.

You guys didn't like the last guy and now voted this one in. Now you don't like him. Who would you like? Probably no one. You guys better get it together if you think your going to get anywhere. I was on the job for 33 years and it was always the same. There's so much division in the ranks the city always wins.

hey 10 G what the over/under on the vote count 6,000 total votes, Karen Lewis. got over 75% to vote for a strike. CTU members were united. How many people are on the force.Just count the votes. If the police don't care enough to vote why should the public care about their safety when they themselves don't care enough to vote.

Most people have doubts.

I didn't get a ballot. I didn't want to go vote in person, but I will.

I will be voting yes. We don't have what it takes to push the city, the mayor, or the arbitrator toward anything more favorable.

The teachers voted to strike, they marched, the public seemed to support Karen Lewis.

And then what?
Their concession remained, 50 schools closed anyway, the y still lost hundreds of teachers, and ask around, the teachers have more crowded classrooms, even though they were promised (contractually) no more than 31 students per classrooms).

He didn't. Not the head shot at any rate. The once that struck the back and exited around the front of the throat, yes. That wound was most likely fatal anyway. The tissue damage of a rifle shot going through that area would have produced paralysis and very likely death. The head shot just sealed the deal. But I believe Oswald did not fire that shot.

All the reasons to vote yes.

Lose Seniority. Check!

Accept tiered 3rd world medical at hospitals not of my choice where people use the ER as a clinic. You will definitely reach your out of pocket cap paying 25% of the bill. Check!

11% over 5 years not 4. Cost of living has been 2% a year for last 7 years. So we deserve only COLA. Check!

Open the door to losing Duty Availability for all by waiving it for 42 months for new members. The door is cracked open. Check!

Give Back in school compensation. Check!

No language regarding better promotions or transparency in the same. Check!

New cars. Throwing in seat belts too. Check! Check! Check!

Helicopter pilots get a bump. Check! What do beat cars get?

No consideration/compensation for receiving 11% in the previous contract when the Arbitrator factored in the horrid economy then that DOES NOT exist today...effectively waiving his assurance that the next contract would be better. Check!

Provocative language intertwining pension law triggers that re-open labor contracts. Bad Karma and word play. WE now enter uncharted area. Bend over. Check!

Pitting members against each other and redistributing their losses as city givebacks Ex. the 2012 retro money will actually be funded by stealing the duty availability from Joe New Guy. 9% of those stolen funds would have gone to our pension. Check!

We have never received less than 11% over 5 years but this contract is a win including all the above givebacks. Check!

This proposal is a win all the way around for who? Rahm solves election headache. Our under funded pension gets kicked again.

A special thanks to the new FOP leaders who salvaged this great deal.

It was more than 6 feet of snow. And we always made it to the call box. Love those call boxes. Yes I will wait till mid Jan and see all the complaining about how all their SUV's are getting stuck in the snow. We are the ones that got it all together and got a union for you guys. It's your own fault if you all can't come together and make it work for you. Why can't you all just come up with the guy you want and all vote for him.
