Ebola News

A commentator or two was attempting to take us to task for our supposed lack of knowledge concerning the Ebola plague hovering at the edge of national consciousness, asking where our degree was at, how we were less knowledgeable than assorted disease experts. As their comments contained nonsensical profanity, we flushed them. We're all for profanity, but profanity with a purpose is preferred.

  • Ebola is a lot easier to catch than health officials have admitted -- and can be contracted by contact with a doorknob contaminated by a sneeze from an infected person an hour or more before, experts told The Post Tuesday.

"If you are sniffling and sneezing, you produce microorganisms that can get on stuff in a room. If people touch them, they could be" infected, said Dr. Meryl Nass, of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, DC.

Nass pointed to a poster the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly released on its Web site saying the deadly virus can be spread through "droplets."

"Droplet spread happens when germs traveling inside droplets that are coughed or sneezed from a sick person enter the eyes, nose or mouth of another person," the poster states.

    Nass slammed the contradiction.

"The CDC said it doesn't spread at all by air, then Friday they came out with this poster," she said. "They admit that these particles or droplets may land on objects such as doorknobs and that Ebola can be transmitted that way."
So we guess that the unwashed masses were correct once again. As the AceofSpades website explains:
  • ...the CDC has been deliberately misrepresenting the transmission pathway of ebola by stating, over and over and over again, that it was not an "airborne" pathogen.

That relies on a technical meaning of the word "airborne" which scientists understand but which the CDC has been counting on the public to be ignorant of. "Airborne," so used, means that a disease is capable of forming dry motes that can float about in the air.

Ebola can't do that. (Yet. We think.)

But most people hear "airborne" and think about the most likely pathway of transmission through the air -- a sneeze.

And ebola can be spread that way-- that method of contagion is called "droplet" transmission (as each particle of disease lives within a droplet of saliva or phlegm expelled from the carrier).
So once again, the CDC lies and Obama wants to import infected foreign nationals carrying this disease. Oh, and the Department of Defense declared that soldiers returning from the hot zones will be subject to a 21-day quarantine, even as Obama whines about quarantining health care workers for three weeks might discourage volunteerism. But hey, trust the government!

As of Oct. 23, a total of 450 health-care workers have been infected with the virus

and as of Oct. 23, 244 have died, according to the World Health Organization

http://time.com/3544762/samantha-power-ebola-clinic-healthcare-workers-liberia/

NOW LET THAT SINK IN FOR A MINUTE!

450 healthcare workers that most likely thought that they were bullet proof.

That their degrees from the ivy league professors granted them knowledge above and beyond the so-called ignorant masses.

Whelp, over half the 450, or 244 of them are dead.

They blindly followed the so-called "experts" advise. Masks, gowns, gloves the whole nine yards.

Meanwhile, there are mainstream media clips ridiculing the people in the African Ebola hot zones -- being labeled as ignorant, backwards, and unsanitary people for claiming that it is the healthcare workers themselves that are helping to spread the disease.

SO I ask you. What do you think.

If 450 healthcare professionals were either unwilling or unable to protect themselves and got infected then how many patients did they treat before their own symptoms surfaced -- the contamination was somewhere on their body, clothes or in the air because they came down with Ebola.

So how many patients was Ebola slime transferred to hmmm?

With the hospital in Dallas there's no difference.

Healthcare workers got the disease and we act like they have some immunity. They are privileged.

The nurse exposed is riding her bike now in Maine giving the middle finger to the law. This so-called caring health professional doesn't give a shit. She thinks she's bullet proof.

Oh it is so hard to have them stay home for a lousy 30 days, yeah?

Let me ask you. When the FEMA Ebola police come up to one of your family members and say Hey you look like you have a fever we better quarantine you where are you going to go under Rahm's plan?

In a FEMA isolation tent with others that do have actually have the disease maybe? What if you didn't have a fever or it was just a normal cold. Sad day for you right?

But Obola, heh, Obola, should a healthcare worker get on a plane to Chicago and barf on the plane exposing everyone. instead of quarantining those people we are to let them loose to run free around the city later backtracking should the shit hit the fan trying to find the hundreds of people each person on that 300~400 passenger jumbo jet carried.

Yeah, like there is manpower for that?

I hope you realize what is going on and take your vote to the polls.

This is bullshit.

Ebola -- Read the Raconteur Report.

The author is an ER Nurse.

I hope he is a pessimist, I fear he is a realist.

Trust the Government?
Why not?!?!

Didn't we have the answer for all of this Biological Warfare shit shortly after 9/11? Wasn't there a little Anthrax scare? Wasn't the Gov supposed to be all over that shit?

Eeehh, guess not.

So called health care professionals, I'm not sick going to ride my bike. The ignorance is unbelievable. This is a nurse. All that education and still stupid. Gives good nurses a bad name!

By the time they figure out ebola has spread here it will be too late.so dummy obama was a big mistake.

I hope, sincerely hope, that the so-called health professional from Maine is the Typhoid Mary of the Ebola epidemic. I gave never seen such liberal arrogance that has come from her and ghost jackass doctor from NYC that took in all 5 boroughs in the days before he ended up in Bellevue

USG snapping up 3,000,000 haz-mat suits !!!!

LOL, not for "protection", oh no, the Alinskite sleaze just don't want you to be able to buy one.

They will of course distribute some to fellow Junta members & probably some to BigRace biggies & some to "pet" minority groups

but you can bet your yt ass that you won't get one unless your rank is Alder critter or "better"

And those droplets can remain infectious on surfaces from hours to days, depending on conditions. Hopefully it doesn't spread here, but it's ignorant to call concern about ebola hysteria with hundreds of travelers from infected countries arriving every day.

Lewiston Idaho veterinarian's Letter to the Editor re: Ebola, Nails it! The present Ebola crisis in the world is frightening. I have submitted the following letter to the editor of the Lewiston Morning Tribune:

Editor, Lewiston Morning Tribune:

If I wish to import a horse into the United States from Liberia or any African country other than Morocco, the horse needs to undergo a 60 day quarantine period at a USDA approved quarantine facility prior to mingling with the general population of horses in this country. Africa has a disease called African Horse Sickness that does not exist in the US; this is the way we have kept it out of this country. African Horse Sickness does not cause disease in people, only horses; our government has determined that it would be devastating to the US horse industry if it were to come here.

The United States (and virtually all other countries) require a myriad of tests and often quarantine prior to bringing in a foreign animal.

I can't legally cross state lines in the United States with a horse or cow without a health certificate signed by a USDA accredited veterinarian stating that the animal has been inspected and found free of infectious disease. In most cases blood tests are also required. In fact I can't legally cross the Snake River and ride my horse in Idaho without a health certificate and a negative blood test for Equine Infectious Anemia.

I'm not complaining; the United States of America, the States of Idaho and Washington as well as the other 48 states take the health of our livestock very seriously, and we have a very good record at keeping foreign animal diseases out of our country. I am happy to do my part to maintain biosecurity in our animal population.

If I am a resident of Liberia incubating Ebola, to enter the United States all I need to do is present a valid visa, and lie when asked if I have been exposed to Ebola. Within hours (no quarantine required) I can be walking the streets of any city in the United States.

I feel very fortunate to live in a country that values our animals so highly.

If Ebola pops up in Central America, it's only a matter of time before the US is fucked.

See
http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2014/10/08/top-us-general-says-ebola-outbreak-coming-through-central-america-is-real/

The healthy will flee to escape the virus. The sick will flee to obtain health care. And the southern border of the US will be stampeded.

Time to pull all our troops out of Africa and station them on the US-Mexican border.

Call the next case. Not a cop.

For an interesting discussion about the math behind Ebola, why it is replicating way faster than we can ever catch it, and for what is probably the most persuasive argument I have seen as to why we absolutely need NO MORE FLIGHTS, please see

http://shepherdofthegurneys.blogspot.com/2014/10/logarithmic-growth-101.html

Quite simply....and mathematically....we are fucked. 12,000 cases today. Growing to 1,400,000 cases...by January 2015.

We simply can not build treatment facilities fast enough, or develop and distribute a vaccine (which does not yet exist) in sufficient quantities fast enough to get out in front of this thing.

Keeping ebola out of and off of the US mainland - by any and all means possible - is our only hope.

Call the next case. Not a cop.

Read Richard Preston's Book "Panic Level 4" - particularly the chapters on Ebola Reston.

It's an AIRBORNE variant.

More wrongdoing cuz of fuckin obama. Why not let obama volunteer to help the infected if ebola is not so easily transmitted. I would risk him no problem. He wouldnt do that anyway cuz he is not a natural leader or actual leader for that matter. He is a conniving shithead who can not be trusted. I dont know how it is acceptable to allow likely-infected/contaminated people into our country. Only cuz dumbass obama says so. He says itd be racist to keep them out. So trying to survive and preserve our country is racist everyone. Only a maniacal terrorist thinks like that.

The CDC pulled the information about sneezes and coughs today. I guess the science is constantly changing, and not this has nothing to do with politics.

Don't PANIC!!!
Obama has the best political fixer in charge of the Obola thing. Of course no one has seen him since his appointment was announced. Maybe Klain is in Quarantine?

Been saying exactly the same thing....

Flash back to the pressers telling us that it is not airborne and we must make contact with a bodily fluid......

Now flash back to every slow motion, stop action pic of a cough or a sneeze.......hmmmm, what's that there? saliva? mucus? potential blood?.....

ummm, yeah....fuck you.....this shit is bigger than the gubmint will ever admit....

If Ebola crops up in Central America and they start fleeing to come here, guess where they gotta go through?

Wanna bet the Mexican cartels swarm THEIR southern border and kill the shit out of everything trying to pass?

The Mexican military won't bust a grape... Wholly corrupt and owned by the cartels.

LOOK: This Is Why You Should Always Cover Your Mouth When You Sneeze

04/09/2014 8:59 am EDT

"A new study in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics shows that the smaller cough and sneeze droplets travel farther distances -- five to 200 times farther, in fact -- compared with previous estimates (which only took into account groups of unconnected particles).

"Before, researchers assumed that bigger droplets traveled farther distances than small ones, simply because their size meant increased momentum. But when researchers looked at high-speed imaging of people's coughs and sneezes, in addition to mathematical modeling and simulations, they found that small droplets actually interact with the gas cloud emitted when a person coughs or sneezes, which leads to them being carried farther than thought.

"Researchers found that a droplet just a millionth of a meter in size (100 micrometers) can travel five times farther than previously thought, and a droplet just 10 micrometers in size can travel 200 times farther than previously thought.

“If you ignored the presence of the gas cloud, your first guess would be that larger drops go farther than the smaller ones, and travel at most a couple of meters,” study researcher John Bush, a professor of applied mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said in a statement. “But by elucidating the dynamics of the gas cloud, we have shown that there’s a circulation within the cloud -- the smaller drops can be swept around and resuspended by the eddies within a cloud, and so settle more slowly. Basically, small drops can be carried a great distance by this gas cloud while the larger drops fall out. So you have a reversal in the dependence of range on size.”

The findings could change how we think about the spread of infectious particles, researchers noted.

Hot damn. Knew they had to be good for something.

We'll be counting on them to take out the first three rows.

Maybe more, since Eric Holder and Valerie Jarrett never found all the "Fast And Furious" weaponry they dumped down there -- and then on top of that blamed Ed's Gun Shop on this side of the line "for all the violence."

Hope they got enough 40mm rounds handy.

Need more, just phone Val.

...especially when a serious engineering (not medical) study has just been released relating how tiny inhalable droplets travel 200 times farther then previously thought...

Don't worry. Be happy.

🎶 Happy Sugar Skulls To Youuuu! 🎶

Just watch as that slow moving, north-bound freight train with all the people piled on top is turned into a hundred yards long rolling funeral pyre by the narco-trafficantes...

Priorities an' shit as usual...

Watch for Sparkle-Farts to wave a jiggler key to the Office Of Printing & Engraving...

"No no no! Don't kill them! We need those people alive so they can come and help me "fundamentally transform" America! Here, take this key and go run off a few Trillion. Will that help?"

...Or some shit like that.

Gotta play this shit for laughs, right?
