Horses Again

  • Another horse statue honoring police was found broken into several pieces this morning on the city's Magnificent Mile.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a damaged statue at 744 N. Michigan Ave., according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.

Officers found the statue broken in several pieces, according to preliminary reports from police.
Doesn't the Mag Mile have cameras? Hundreds of cameras? Thousands? Are they all broken?

Perhaps the statues ought to be moved indoors to some of the lobbies of tourist locations? Or the lobby of the local police station where an eye can be kept on it for a bit?

They just celebrating the hope and change Obama brought them.

A spectacular rebirth of the city like we have never seen before.

Maybe Rahm and Redmoon can do a reenactment?

Yes! Then again, so does Englwood, Roseland, and the West Side.

Ya think that those cameras would actually STOP CRIME???

Heard the news, but wasn't watching, and they said they had three 'individuals' on video.

Possible? Maybe even likely?
Rahm had those specific cameras temporarily disconnected in a effort to save taxpayers money and stick it to CPD all at once.

The more they are broken, the more the connected statue company gets paid. It's Chicago math.

Maybe the city can hire Herbie "I Ain't In No Gang" Pulgar, of city sticker design fame, to do a monumental bronze memorializing Robert "Yummy" Sandifer -- possible title "Taken From Us Not A Moment Too Soon."

They catch Herbie's dad yet?

The horses are small change compared to more s__t downtown than ever. One high-end smash-and-grab after another, assaults, flashmobs, etc. Bring back the jump-outs.

You may not agree with me but the horses, as well as the cows before, are stupid idea. somewhat like the burning barges on the river. If you want them then put them where they can be viewed and be safe. Otherwise, what did you expect? Put them on the streets and someone - the world is full of morons - will damage them. Here endeth the lesson.

More street antics by the urban cowboys. Maybe they should legalize marijuana, give them iPhones and iPads, free school, transit passes, a monthly gov'mint stipend. This way they'll have something to do and won't be so destructive.
How many high end stores were burglarized in 018 in the last month, how many street disturbances and robberies, tourists harassed and victimized?
And the Commander is still unaccountable?

As for the cameras, they're only to catch people who will pay their speeding/red light tickets.

Just a thought. These polecee horses attract thugs. Why not set up a sting surveillance on Michigan Ave or anywhere in the city with thugs or Wilding. That would be pro active. My bad. This current bunch of spineless Police brass would never even consider it. They can't fathom real police work in this age of comstat. Crime is down compared to 9am on the 12 sep 1965. That's all they know nowadays. Oh well horsee. You will not be protected, just like the innocent citizens in this city. Maybe horsee you can get a merit spot somewhere inside the 018 district desk. You were not meant to work outside.

At first, this was a great idea, but not so much anymore. It's turning out to be just another way for the beast to shit on us. I say relocate all these horse to districts, at least that way we can keep an eye on them.

I get the honoring police thingy....But let's not beging to worship these "idols" which did not exist only 6 months ago. 6 months from now there will be an auction and some of the proceeds will be turned over to Phat Phil and the Police memorial (BTW 120K a year on the CPD memorial foundation dime along with a real good police pension). Which is a positive thing. But lets not get overly protective of a plaster figure which will be forgotten in another 6 months. As I recall, the cows on parade were also damaged. Let's not be accused of selective moral outrage here...
just sayn......

Make the horse statues out of an explosive material. It won't be so hard to find the culprits, or their pieces. Tourists and decent folks don't vandalize them to start with, just the local vermin.
