If you did not vote then shout the hell up
Less than 5000 ballots. 60% pass
Less than 5000 ballots. 60% pass
I voted no but I feel it'll pass but not by a huge margin.
Too many shortsighted coppers who are focused in on retro.
Nothing on website as of 2:46 pm
i voted yes and im proud to say it, wasnt the best contract but decent considering the times if you dont like , work at walmart or lateral to gary,in or detroit ,mi
Going to say yes overwhelming 70/30% bet total of 5700 ballots back out of 9800 sent out! 4100 not returned!
5237 votes, 56% for, 44% against.
Approved!!!!!!!!!!
I'm ready for a raise and a retro check.
I heard only 5000 ballots received at FOP. That is totally unacceptable. What a useless bunch we are. We can't even mail in a simple ballot.
And everyone of you that didn't vote will be the first crying about how long its taking to get your money. Disgraceful
I called @ 1402 hours....said they were counting
The results are in.
Clay Walker for next FOP President!
Bet it passes by 200 to 300 votes .
Remember when vote for ten hour day was a tie , yeah right . A lot of folks won't vote , those inside cowards 20% management will vote yes .
Selling out new people hurts our pension , hurts the new officers that are stuck on first and third watch .
Duty availability should be taken away from all second watch officers . More people work days than first and third watch , many are office police Homan square , headquarters m crime lab , courts etc .
It passed...
Shocked that 7000 guys took the time to vote, was more than how many voted in the election
10G related that contract passed with 63 percent margin.
Will pass overwhelming majority guaranteed! On another note heard some coppers that bid to airports are upset no overtime! Did they check first to see if airport is at manpower required that it would be gone? Guess stupid is as stupid does!
yea....we fucked our retirees!
Can I receive an advance on my retro? Me & alderman Zalewski are heading to Vegas for the weekend.
Almost 7200 ballots returned. Will keep you updated.
Somebody on Zone 4 said it was 60% "no" over the air just after 3pm... and some people believed it! Lol
I'm liking my chops for that retro check. I'm gonna cash that sucker and buy a Vespa. Live free or die, bitches!
Contract passed, 66.5% to 33.5%
If only 2000 copper vote, and the vote count is 999(No) to 1001(Yes). Will the contract be ratified with approx 10% of the membership voting? Doesn't NLB rules require that at least 50% of the membership vote with contract and strikes? Each union can increase the % required, but can't reduce it.
Oh, Dean we didn't forget that the contract was not voted on by the union reps. Trustees, your also on the list because you voted lock step with "Pops."
contract passed 4755 yes 2395 no
I've heard it passed around 2-1.
66.5% voted yes
Contract passed!!! Although not a perfect contract I'm glad a large majoriety realized that overall it wasn't bad and definitely wasn't worth sending it to arbitration. We did the smart thing. We would have lost a lot more time and a lot more time with our $$$$ going to arbitration.
It passed
From the FOP Facebook post:
7150 ballots counted, 4755 yes and 2395 no.
There's what, 9100 active duty blue shirts?
contract passed 4755 yes 2395 no
Dean and company are gone!
Fucking sellouts for that bitch Rahm!
You young coppers are really going to feel the pain of this fiasco for many years to come!
Next election this FOP group is out!
Rahm SHITBAG, NEVER gets my vote!
Contract has been ratified. Posted on the FOP website. 66.5% of the votes for. Over 7200 votes cast.
hey ssc two i hold to be true the contract passes , the greenbay packers kick the bears butts on 09nov14
Passed 65%
it passed.... Now would you admit that 95% of the reason you were against it was because of furlough by watch?
Where my retro check.
Contract Ratified. .. 7150 ballot. .. 4755 approve.. 2395 no .. overwhelming 66.5%
Love how every one was soo passionate about this yet only 5,000 voted.... Actually we are soo short handed, that might be a great turn out.
Clay Walker for Mayor!!!!!!
If it passes...who ever voted yes ...you are a dumb Mfer
I am a retiree so I will get 2013 retro, but you deserve much better than this. Two bad contracts, back to back, two percent annual increases over ten years, half your career for chump change! 400 cars, the next contract will involve a new weight room in 020 for you'all! Maybe even repaving the parking lot at holman square will be in the next contract. Not much fight in the fop on this one. They will say they were hamstrung by the shields letter! Doesn't take much to beat this fop jv team these days.

Chicago Police Rank & File Ratify the Contract
Chicago police approve new contract
http://truenewsusa.blogspot.com/2014/10/chicago-police-rank-file-ratify-contract.html
Next city council meeting is nov 5. Then 75 days til money. Which is sometime around jan 20 th for retro checks.
Voter apathy strikes again!
How the hell does at least four thousand coppers not vote on something so important.?
No wonder Rahm treats us like red headed stepchildren.... he knows we can't/won't vote in numbers.
http://www.chicagofop.org/contract-ratified/
I want my reperations now
Hopefully we all voted. Remember to vote in the upcoming election for Mayor. Very important to rid ourselves of Rahm and McCarthy.
We will regret this contract for years to come, wait till the small print comes out. Fuck you fop!
O.T.
Still no CPD policy on Ebola related incidents.
Yes!!!!!!!
Retro baby!
Harley here I come!!!!!!!
Great! I can't wait for my retro. We should of gave up some of our pension to get a bigger retro.
I didn't think there were 7200 officers left. Nice raise but we screwed new guys that will someday out number us
66% yes 34% no.
You young cops are stupid.
i voted NO! so now where is my retro check!
My retro was spent when the over all cost of living went up. What does this mean for my pension now? 66 percent of people will be saying they voted "No" when we get it in our dry brown eye.
It passed? Phew... Those two fuckin helicopter pilots can breathe a sigh of relief now.
I guess the rest of us can go fuck ourselves now.
Nice job, losers. You caved in to Rahm. What a bunch of fucking pussies we are....
Cry !!!!! And shut up! Lazy ass cant send in your ballot to vote but you want to bitch. Its over . Cant do nothing about it. Bet you voted for obama tho.
PASSED 2 to 1!
Dougherty, Donahue, Ag-u-liar, Davis, J. Moriarty, Graham Crackers, Bourret, Baily you all lose AGAIN!
VOTED YES AND I'M LOVING IT!
Turn down for what!
now that its done will more coppers put in for 55 and out? the city gave us if contract passed (which it did hooray) another chance by 01dec14 to put in for next year how many smart coppers will leave? 109 were in 01oct14 how many more?
Dean,
Your pathetically weak contract passes. Why don't you help bring the membership together, by thanking everyone who participated in the process and cast their ballot?
Instead of taking the moral high ground, you take yourself to the gutter and essentially dismiss all the membership who disagreed with you and voted NO..calling us nay-sayers and troublemakers. Dean I didn't bow to pressure, I stuck to my principles and proudly voted NO!
Now you can go get your steak dinner with Rahm. Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back. Just because it overwhelmingly passed, doesn't make it the best contract in history. It still sucks, and in two years when it expires, the subsequent contract will see even more erosion to our contractual benefits. Thanks for nothing!
Contract ratified, it's posted on the FOP's website.......Hurray!!!!!!!
(OT) if your on the medical for non-iod injury and you go to medical section last Tuesday, they give you a release form for your doctor to give them all your information, such as illness treatment etc..thought it was private! doesn't the hippa law apply here? Thought your employer did not have the doctor to patient relationship privacy that the law allows? Anyone know if you have to provide this to the city?
Fuck you. Pay me.
7450 ballots cast. 4755 yes votes. 67 percent ratification. Highest yes percentage ever for a fop contract vote. Well done.. The no votes, sorry.. Don't be sore losers about it. Most of you are saying no just to buck the system and say how u voted no.
The margin of support the Members have demonstrated today is truly reflective of the hard work and extreme skill of our elected Officers, Labor Lawyers and Contract core group. Thank You All!
--------------
Are you kidding me, when asked asked at the district what FOP asked for, the FOP representatives didn't know. It's all just A, B, C items but no knowledge of what those A,B, and C items were. Remember Sadam Hussain would get 99% of the vote, but was despised.
Approved!!!!! Time for a retro check!!! Time to get the basement done!!!!
Wheres my money!?
Who counted? I don't trust any of those clowns
Yes! I can finally fix my basement with the retro check!
MG
Stupid fucks!!!!!!. Rahm and FLOP are laughing!!!!! what did we gain besides a below cost of living raise? Name one thing!
I said not what did we keep....what did we gain? I can reel off a shitload of what the city gained.
Anyone have any info on the Retro Calculator
Oh man I can't wait to piss my retro away on the lotto.
Signed, MG
Yeah, how about all the voting ballots people never received in the mail and incorrect addresses? Let's brush all this under the rug, move on, nothing to see here. D.A. thinks this is some big accomplishment of him and his team. Sell-out to mayor, see where his son goes in the next few years and it will speak for itself. Someone made a lot of money on this deal, and it wasn't the working police officer, which if I'm not mistaken is the purpose of this Union. Somehow we always land up getting the raw end, not only from the City but now our Lodge #7. I've never seen such an opinionated urge for us to vote 'Yes' then ever before from the people who are supposed to be neutral. Can we say, "vested interest"? Wonder why. The City and D.A.'s family won big on this one. First, Shields messed up and now we are bent over again with no lube a second time.
For those idiot Mofo's who voted "YES"....you are just as ignorant as the the people you POLICE AND BITCH ABOUT!!! Yeah you got retro comming but you also got a pension that will be categorically and systematically diminished. Contract approved. Rauner elected. 9.5 re-elected. Dean Jr gets promoted cause daddy delivered the vote. 2017 we get fucked even more cause by then R Squared would have all their pieces in place to redo and shit away what the city owe's us and increase health care for retiree's.
I agree contract wasn't the best and I didn't think we can get any better. I voted yes to pass contract. To all officers who hate the contract and are going to talk crap about the ones who voted yes. You have two options quit these great department and return your retro pay, pay raise. Make it payable to Rahm Emmanuel because you are the ones who bitch and complain. They could of presented you with a great contract and you still wouldn't be happy.
In regards to message below.......What did we get smart ass????

I voted no because I can see past the $$$ that the city is offering us now. Think about this 2% retiree charge on healthcare. You retire and are now on a fixed income and you are being forced to pay 2% of your retiree benefits back. This diminishes your benefits and would violate the IL constitution except, you agreed to be f**ked. Its 2% now and when you go to retire it will be more like 10%.
Then there are these 400 cars. Why this is in a LABOR contract is beyond me. This just opens the door to abuses by the city. Too many holes in the lot well its not in your contract. Building too moldy, sorry not in the contract. Sewage pipe bursts in the locker room, we'll put some duct tape on it till its contact time.
Did you see the RED EYE? They broke down the revenue the city made from different taxes and many of the categories they exceeded the budget 2014. Enjoy your pittance retro check sell outs.
Now we wait to see what was really voted in.
When just like bamacare.
"We had to vote for it to see"
which hospitals are to be tier 1 or 2..
We were fucked either way. But those of you who voted yes, willingly took it in the ass without Vaseline.
This blows and so do all you fucking sellouts.
15 years on the job. Looks like I'm getting a winter furo. great. thanks.

Whelp, enjoy the job when the combative vomiting Ebola patient hits one of the airports and you're sent in with no equipment or training.
Your family and love ones will have the retro pay tho eh?
Dumb azzes..
FOUR MORE YEARS-- FOUR MORE YEARS!!
Sadly this contract is hwat leads to the destruction of unions. When you divide benefits, the shift differential, it opens the door for the city on the next contract to diminish benefits. The best example is what happend at Ford motors on Torrence. They hired new workers but not at union scale, in fact nearly 50% less than union scale, now Gov' Quinn brags about the hiring and RAM can brag that he diminshed the benefits/pay of new CPD hires. THIS SEPERATION OF PAY IN THE DUTY AVAILABILTY DIMINSHES THE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PENSION FUND BY THE MEMBERSHIP AND THE CITY. BET THE F L O P DIDNT TELL YOU THAT FACT.

Actually, the people I know who voted No (myself included) did so after long and careful consideration. Your post reveals you to be a person who did not do the same for the Yes vote.
We just opened the door, further, for the city/mayor to screw us.

Awesome!! Now I can go spend money like a drunken sailor with that retro! Who cares about the future! Gimme that retro baby!!!! (sarcasm)
Dumb fucks.
10/17/2014 05:34:00 PM
I VOTED NO BECAUSE of all the things wrong with this contract... some top idiotic points are:
•department police vehicles ( i know, dont worry, i have less then 20yrs so I'll be peddling my own bike in part of the 2 m$ll$on 2015 bike police budget)
•Tiered (as of today, still unk) health care. I pay wayyyyy more for wayyyyyy shitter service
•Pension "renegotiation" language hahahahaha yeah, but the City can say a big fat NO
•IAD/IPRA wtf kinda verbage is this?!?!?! 1st the "if we have video/audio we may or may not tell you" also, One will ask questions while one takes notes then note taker will ask questions while the other takes notes and so on and so on til they have the answers they want LOL are they fuckin retarded 2yr olds! Do we get the same courtesy with the lying shitbags (sgts too that eagerly take them) that lie or mislead in the attempt to jam us up and sue everyone cause we all know the city Payz...
God let me stop because it's HAPPY SWEETEST DAY WISHES TO ALL Good luck to all of us! Keep each other safe and go home the way you came in
I am disappointed, I voted NO, because we are going to screw the new guys.
In a real union, this would NEVER happen.
That is fine, I will go with what the majority wanted, there is really no recourse.
I listened to some of you say why you voted "yes".. I am shocked at the utter lack of intelligence and the allure of some shitty retro money.
I know in 5-8 years there will be an "I told you so" moment and I hope we are ALL prepared for it, because we ALL will get it.
Slippery slope....
I can't wait to buy my lambo with the 1500 dollar retro! Fuckin tools!
Anyone got a ballpark on the retro amount? I'm too lazy to calculate.
Now it's get Rahm's ass out of the mayor's office time!!!
I didn't like contract either because that idiot Shieds forgot the letter. I voted yes thinking we wouldn't get anything better in arbitration. This FOP better be on the ball got the next contract and get something for the guys on 20 years or more. How about extra vacation days
Watch FLOP Claim We want to endorse RhamBo Too!!
How many retirees voted?
$$$$$$ The money retro TALKS
Well played
ot 2% for health insurance is that for family plan or just ind. they will charge another 8% for spouse and 10% per child with two children that's 40% and then they will not cover children until age 26 as mandated by ACA,by the way the new contract for 2017 may be higher.
We just opened the door, further, for the city/mayor to screw us at a later date.
Can I still mail it?
"Fuck you. Pay me."???!!! Herbie is that you??!
7238 total votes
4754 yes
65.6
real numbers
Move on guys. Don't fret this stuff no more. Remember stress kills, and being a street copper triples the risk.
You folks got a decent paying job and it pays the bills. Enjoy your days off with your family and have friends that are not the police to hang with. Hard to do when you are the police , but try.
I did over 3 decades and still think I am the police after being gone 3 years.
You guys will get to the end and retire. Life is short and enjoy and laugh ever chance you get.
Miss all you clowns that gave your all to the city and the department. The vast majority of the CPD are the best of the best in LE, not the NYPD as McCarthy would tell his close minions.
God bless all the sworn of the CPD.

10/17/2014 05:02:00 PM
You sound kinda soft with your "caved into Rahm" stuff. What they hell are you talking about? How did the Yes voters "cave into Rahm?" We got a pretty fair deal under the circumstances. I'm sure you are a very poor investor also. Probably keep your money under your mattress. I bet you think Rahm is celebrating too.
This is my 5th and probably final contract. I can understand the REASONING why officers voted for and against the contract. What I didn't understand is how many officers voted in a blind fury without understanding the issues properly. I didn't like the contract, but to listen to so many friends vote no due to rumors and misunderstandings was ludicrous. The same goes for those who voted yes and ONLY saw money. Have we as a group become as ignorant and as irrationally emotional as many of those whom we come in contact with out on the street?
ssc i voted yes and im waiting for 2 things that retro check and 09nov14 when the green bay packers beat the bears go fop contract n go green bay packers they both be back
Im putting my retro on the bears -3 for Sunday. Double or nothing!
Nice going idiots. You will look back on this day and seriously regret it. Rahm is smoking a cigar, sipping cognac and laughing at our collective stupidity.
We are all doomed...... we're about to get corn holed by Rahm and Rahmenomics.
Bend over and grab your ankles.
Voted no....I think this was a terrible contract. The small print and ambiguous language will come back to haunt us. First chance to stick it to us is the furlough by watch.....contract language says upon ratification. If city council passes on 5NOV.....we will have it for 2015....a year sooner than Dean said.
At least the sergeants can look themselves in the mirror

10/17/2014 07:53:00 PM
Thank-you and God Bless!!!
I'm not a member of fop but I think this proposal was a joke.

Yes! I can finally fix my basement with the retro check!
MG
10/17/2014 05:46:00 PM
You mean your mom's basement.
The "old cpd" would have tossed this piece of garbage that the union offered and fought for all members of this dept. Those 4755 members should be ashamed at what they voted for and not reading the fine print. The real police always stuck together..now they are divided.
Just so all you morons who voted yes on the contract know the retro check that you wanted so badly will be taxed at 41 percent. Not so great now huh. Dumb asses.
Nice work to Dean and the FOP negotiating team. Please just ignore all the negative, ignorant nonsense. The loudmouths do not speak for us.
We are behind the FOP. Thank you guys and congratulations!

BS. Asked to be present at the vote count and was told to get a warrant. That's the transparency. I don't believe for one moment it actually passed. I know that's what they wanted so that is how they report it.
I got dibs on the first car. Oh yeah remember when You Dean said retro check by Christmas. He had his fingers crossed behind his back. Though Dean jr got his present early . Can you say Sgt.
Pity the newcomers and the retirees
400 additional vehicles are in our contract cause thanks to all those fucken hotrods that keep wrecking our vehicles now this has become part of a loss in money due to repairs and were talking thousands of $$$$...

You're absolutely right. Officers now is the time for some po's with integrity to organize and get ready to run for FOP. We need people who are not blinded by the giant salaries and bloated staff of the FOP but actually want to help their fellow officers. The corruption at the FOP is getting old.
For all the money hungry rat bastards. Thanks. When ur picking furlos and after 15 years ur going back to 2a 4a. You can ask yourself how was the money you already spent? was if worth it? Fuck this job sucks. 5 to go and fuck this place.

You are obviously a retiree with no brains. Do you watch any news? ANY? You see the condition of the country and world? You see pay raises anywhere in the country? The answer is NO goofball. We are lucky we got this. Obamacare coming to a city near all of us real soon. This isn't the same department you joined 40-years-ago. Times are a changing. Realize it. Im' sure the arbitrator would have said to himself, "Man these guys are getting fucked at 75,000 to 80,000 a year without VRI. I'm going to give them each 150,000. Another low information voter.

Well, we will never know now will we. What we do know is that we were presented with a crappy contract covered in retro glitter and you ate it up. Only later will you find out just how bad of a contract it was as the %'s for all the doors you allowed open get further tweaked in future contracts. As for complaining, I am allowed to take issue with a sub-par contract that is far less than what we deserve and one that sets us up to lose a lot more in the future than any temporary gain now. But it's too late to do anything about that now and it would be a waste of time to try and explain it to you. I had no intention of addressing anyone who voted yes, but if you are going to be smug and do preemptive bitching about potential bitchers, then you ask for it. Your vote was bought and paid for just like the democrat welfare vote. You sold out your own future as well as everyone else’s just for a years worth of salary only retro. That does give people the right to complain about the results and makes you look like even more of an ass for gloating about it. You seem to be a prime example of why one should have to pass an I.Q. test before being allowed to vote on anything of more importance than "whats for dinner?". Enjoy your retro, hope you do not miss all that you gave up in the future. But based on the logic and composition of your post, one thing you will not be missing is the educational reimbursement program since skoolin doesn't seem to be your strong suit.

I didn't like contract either because that idiot Shieds forgot the letter. I voted yes thinking we wouldn't get anything better in arbitration. This FOP better be on the ball got the next contract and get something for the guys on 20 years or more. How about extra vacation days
10/17/2014 07:01:00 PM
Uhhh, your yes vote just screwed you for your own retirement genius. You just agreed to allow them to go around the law and diminish your pension. Yea, thats right, take a minute to let that sink in. You did that. The time to be "on the ball" was now when they are trying to make you pay 2% of your retirement to health care that will undoubtedly go up and up in the future... putz.
Anonymous said...
ot 2% for health insurance is that for family plan or just ind. they will charge another 8% for spouse and 10% per child with two children that's 40% and then they will not cover children until age 26 as mandated by ACA,by the way the new contract for 2017 may be higher.
10/17/2014 07:09:00 PM
Too late to be asking questions now.
I can't wait to buy my lambo with the 1500 dollar retro! Fuckin tools!
10/17/2014 06:47:00 PM
Probably around 5k
(OT) if your on the medical for non-iod injury and you go to medical section last Tuesday, they give you a release form for your doctor to give them all your information, such as illness treatment etc..thought it was private! doesn't the hippa law apply here? Thought your employer did not have the doctor to patient relationship privacy that the law allows? Anyone know if you have to provide this to the city?
10/17/2014 05:25:00 PM
Are you an idiot? You are on medical leave for personal illness and the city will allow you to get paid in full for one year if your personal illness is justified. Yes, of course your doctor and medical information has to be provided to the city.
I suggest you get off the medical and get back to work. You just ratted on yourself, you goof.
10,000 patrolman
20% management were yes votes
Officers assigned to Homan square , tactical , foot patrol in 1 and 18 voted yes
Old timers with over 25 years , yes votes 2% health insurance is cheap
10 years from now it will be 10 % for health
Young coppers are screwed .
No votes over 2,000 are the poor beat cops on first and third watch that work one man , no early ducks and have to beg for time off .
I voted yes....for those who care to read on, here is why.....
1. We would not get anything more from an arbitraitor than was already agreed upon by the negotiating committee.
2. Of the items that were agreed upon i am happy that we are getting the retro pay for the first year that we would have otherwise lost.
3. On the 2% for 55 and out....the agreement for the free insurance ends in 2017. It is my understanding that the city could have eliminated this benefit completely in 2017. If we can keep the benefit for 2% its better than nothing.
4. On the duty availability for new hires.... If someone wants this job they know their benefits and wages coming into the job. This contract change causes them to lose $1000. If they dont like it they can apply at other departments. It is simple economics, if the pay is too low the city won't have enough people applying for the job and then they will need to increase pay or add benefits to attract new hires.
5. The new insurance plan....this one probably was the toughest choice. As far as it was explained i should not see any change in my plan. Hopefully that will be the case.
6. The furlough....this is complete bullshit. The union sold out every officer on this. Those that it it benefits now will get screwed in years to come....most likely when you have a family and getting time off when your kids are off is most important. If it was possible to vote no and sit back at the table to negotiate this issue I would have been a no vote.
Finally, i dont believe the bullshit about how we were screwed because "we went last". If that were the case the city would negotiate with the P.O.'s last for every contract. In fact I think our union had it easiest going last because they could say "The fire department only got this, or the sergeants only got that, we aren't going to get anything better".
maybe McCarty can buy a heart.
You guys and gals are so shallow. Retro, retro, retro. Are you all fucking series? How big is the check?
Pathetic. Truly pathetic.

I'm liking my chops for that retro check. I'm gonna cash that sucker and buy a Vespa. Live free or die, bitches!

the retired guy's advice... thanks for that, too.

20+ on and single so I bid for "bad" furloughs and work holidays for those with kids. That's how I was raised.
We just opened the door, further, for the city/mayor to screw us
Hey kid, I've very been through 5 contracts and they've all gotten worst each year. We get screwed every time, the fop always allows it no matter who we vote for. We always get screwed, just look at the previous contracts. And guess what you're gonna get screwed on all the ones that follow no matter who the president is.this guy, angelo, was cut with the same scissors as the previous president's and the following will be the same.all of you that said u voted no but colored in the yes have no balls. WE ARE OUR WORST ENEMIES
If it passes...who ever voted yes ...you are a dumb Mfer
10/17/2014 04:28:00 PM
And....if you voted No....you are even dumber MFER!
10/17/2014 06:02:00 PM
And...And...if you voted, you're the dumbest MFER of 'em all!
15 years on the job. Looks like I'm getting a winter furo. great. thanks.

ahahahahahahahahah, 15 years on for me also and I willingly work midnights and I will now be getting a summer furlough or any furlough I choose!!!! ahahahahahahahaahah, awwwwwwwww management on days doesnt look so good anymore does it??? Well, Im number 6 in seniority on midnights and looks like the sky is the limit with furloughs for me now!!
I voted yes because I calculated I'd hear less of you business/union/political "expert" COPS bitch and moan about a Yes than a No. Shaddap. I'm gonna enjoy my Full 1, and how much we getting paid???
The sergeants voted their union down and got a decent contract. Too bad for the FOP. They did not do right by the members and the members did not do each other any good.
now that its done will more coppers put in for 55 and out? the city gave us if contract passed (which it did hooray) another chance by 01dec14 to put in for next year how many smart coppers will leave? 109 were in 01oct14 how many more?
Your answer none. Cops in my district are writing letters of hardship trying to pull their par forms. They know this contract was bad for retirees. Looks like most will stay longer until they qualify for Medicare. My guess is senority won't budge. Enjoy summer furlough on midnights your not going to see daylight for a long long time.
Yours truly,
1a 3a furlough and baby furlough summer

And I believe the rules of personal medical illness were changed to like one year over the duration of an officers career -- you need to find out because if you have been off work for a particular illness or injury or a year and you don't come back to work. You will be forced out. You can thank Ladner for that. You better pull up the new medical order and become familiar with the changes and think about how long you plan on recovering at home.
Coppers always talk $hit about the populations we serve with their rims, spending, and ghetto mentality and yet we are the same ones who sold ourselves out for lil' chump change of a retro check showing what we believe our self-worth to be, a mere couple grand. Worse than a rabbit with a carrot dangling. Pathetic. The mayor laughs that we fell for his 1 year retro "promise" falling down to our knees to worship him. He also thinks its comical all he had to do is promise a few measly merit promotions to DA JR's future career to save millions. They're eating steak and lobster, and we are licking crumbs off the floor while he throws bread at us like dogs. Everyone is afraid of the big bad scary wolf of an arbitrator, like we don't look at fear in its face on the streets every day of our careers. Aren't you excited to calculate how your going to spend your couple bucks from the retro in the new 2015 police vehicles you negotiated in the contract. Oh wait, those are going to exempts, CAPS, and people at HQ.
Clay Walker for next FOP President!
Here, Here!
Not a one of you "patrolman for life" had the courage or intellect to address the the theft of thirty percent of promotions to sergeant-your biggest raise you'll never see-due to the democrats merit scheme. That raise is serious money and you and your sweetheart union didn't have the nerve to end or at least reduce the number of promotions forever lost. The city now has the department it wants and ou all fell for the worst contract ever.
Say goodbye to DUTY AVAILABILITY!
You believed the hype.
So are we in the next contract talks NOW???
LETs wait 2 1/2 years again and not receive retro again.
To all those who voted no stand up for your convictions and refuse to take the raise.
The "old cpd" would have tossed this piece of garbage that the union offered and fought for all members of this dept. Those 4755 members should be ashamed at what they voted for and not reading the fine print. The real police always stuck together..now they are divided.
10/17/2014 09:44:00 PM
Older than when we approved a contract opening the door to payng for health insurance? While I agree that this is awful and that we are divided, let's not pretend that this division is new. This job changed after the last of the world war 2 guys retired.
Bend over and enjoy it is all I can say.
I can't wait to buy my lambo with the 1500 dollar retro! Fuckin tools!
10/17/2014 06:47:00 PM
Probably around 5k
10/17/2014 11:44:00 PM
No. He's right. 1500 is for the PORTION of retro we would have lost at arbitration. We still would have received a retro check for the other years.
You have to pass it before you know whats in it!

you do realize that seniority, about the only thing we had left, was just butchered right?
The dumb shit that said "if you don't like go live to Gary or Detroit" shout the hell up. It's cheaper to live there then in shitcago....stroke.....Now go put some gel in your hair.....puss
That retro will be taxed at 41 percent. Is it worth it now
Retired, but just an observation/suggestion.
Kindly move on. Either way, the majority has spoken and you are stuck with the outcome. It's counter productive to your health to add unneeded stress to your already stressful job. Unfortunately, everyone is affected, good or bad, to some degree with this contact.
Again, kindly move on, continue to look out for each other and get home safely at the end of your tour.
It was an honor to spend four decades with some of the finest members in law enforcement in the nation.
I respect and wish you all the best of luck in the future.
May God bless and keep you safe.
Ol' vet retired.

10/17/2014 06:42:00 PM
Agreed.
History repeats itself again-anyone here remember this? "We'll be paying a little toward our health care. It's only $1.25 per check."
That contract started the decline of our medical benefits.
The morons and their retro addiction did it again.

It's to the city's advantage to keep the 55 and out.
The city didn't give us anything.
If it passes...who ever voted yes ...you are a dumb Mfer
I voted yes. And that's MR. MFER to you sonny.
So now go back to your 1st watch beat car and bore your partner to death bitching on how the union screwed everyone. I'm happy with the contract. Going to arbitration would have not gotten us a better deal.
Oh, and BTW..... hope you ski. Those 1A and 1B furloughs tend to get cold.
I'm close to retirement so all is right with the world.
Well if Yes wins out the "I got mine" culture officially has superseded "for the greater good" style of living in Chicago... Selah
We have no support from the pols, media and citizens in the city.who will fight with us for better contracts? We received a 2 week grace period after 9/11. People loved the fire and police. Then, the hate restarted. We need greater support to get a better deal . Until then....
"...a minimum set percentage of officers who can use Elective Time and the Department will provide the Lodge with quarterly numbers regarding officers who were granted and denied the use of Elective Time....."
RIGHT---how will they determine who was denied--who is keeping/editing/providing that record--the XO???...it will be a lie like every other manpower, assignment or activity report produced for downtown...
"...Reduction in Reimbursement for Graduate Programs... on or after September 1, 2016, reimbursement will be 75% (currently 100%) for Grade “A” and 50% for Grade “B”... Scholarships/Discounts for Graduate Programs..."
UNREAL---an even bigger funnel for the clouted nonsense programs of Lewis/Xavier/Adler--where connected folks teach....
I voted yes. Thought it was great
Well it may not be the greatest contract but at least I'll have the chance to really screw people who may or may not take this job at some point in the future.
Doesn't matter. We're all going to have ebola before we get a chance to spend those retro checks anyway.
20+ on and single so I bid for "bad" furloughs and work holidays for those with kids. That's how I was raised.
10/18/2014 01:49:00 AM
Reminds me of the guys without kids in my unit who, when we were in Iraq and Afghanistan, gave up their scheduled leaves over Christmas so the guys with kids could take their places and see their families. God Bless them, and you.
I'm at the car dealer now pissing away my retro check. Red or Blue SUV ?
10/17/2014 10:05:00 PM
Go with the new FLOP color, yellow.
Too late to be asking questions now.
10/17/2014 11:28:00 PM
The leaders of Our Fraternal Organization should've printed that phrase on the FOP letterhead when they took office.
Fuck the retro! Fuck the 2% for the medical upon retiring! When do I get my new squad car so that I can continue to work a high crime area on midnights as a 1-man car?
This was a terrible turnout for grown up men and women, just a little over 7,000 voted. Then we have the balls to complain about everything, complain about the union, the bosses the jobs, the toilet paper used in the stations etc. This was the best that we could get. Grow up, do your job to the best of your ability or not do it, just back up each other and watch your back from the evil doers that lurk about.
The SHIELDS boys are elated now that retro is coming because we cannot sue Mikey now. Nice job assholes.
Joke, this is said day for us! We lost many rights and will never get them back. This will also set the stage for us to continue these losses. Many messed over their children when they come on this job.
I hope all who voted yes are happy and happy for many years to come.
I love the contract. I get a july december furlough with 3.25 years on the job. Midnights are the best!!

Hey douchebag, if you ever find some poor soul that agrees to hitch their wagon to your pitiful ass and you have kids in the future years you will not be so happy. If you have kids now and don't care about future furlo times with them you are an even bigger douchebag!
I am a laborer for CDOT. I got a 2.7% raise in July. If my city vehicle is down, I sit inside and get paid. No walking. I take breaks, lunch, days off and vacation WHENEVER I please. All overtime jumps double time after 2 1/2 hours. All Sundays are double time. No one shoots at me. I never miss my kid's birthdays, plays or recitals. No CR numbers or civilian complaints. I'll make $82,000 even with my limited OT.
ENJOY YOUR CRAPPY CONTRACT.
-Mike the city worker
P.S. How do you enjoy doing escort duty for gangbangers funerals?
This country was built on freedom from oppression. Wars have been fought and won/lost by courageous people. Movements by oppressed people have changed the course of history. They all had one thing in common. They fought with courage and tenacity and they had leadership with vision.
Divide and conquer was in effect. FOP leadership has no vision. They will always shove a contract down your throat and celebrate among themselfs as they go back to their easy, high paying jobs.
I will say it. You guys and girls are soft with no backbone to have accepted this contract as is. Chicken shit nu-bees and a disgrace to the American labor movement of your ancestors. No doubt you will vote for the bi-polar, height challenged millionaire that burns your money in goofy and stupid ways and takes it away in legal red light and speed cameras, phone taxes. Need I say more?
This was the easiest contract to negotiate in the past 27 years I have been on and Angelo still fucked it up.
Glad it passed! Fair is better then BEN giving us the same, minus the 4% raise and no retro! So that was the logical choice for the 66% who voted YES.
The cops that voted NO can't wrap their head around that.
I sacrificed my 7B - 13B furloughs with 22 years on! Because the outcome of arbitration would of been an abomination!
I would of given up retro if they would of hired 2500 cops by end of 2016!
The only time we as coppers come together is when a copper gets shot Sad that when some coppers stand up to a shit boss the rest of us sell them out.
For all the money hungry rat bastards. Thanks. When ur picking furlos and after 15 years ur going back to 2a 4a. You can ask yourself how was the money you already spent? was if worth it? Fuck this job sucks. 5 to go and fuck this place.
Mr. 25 yrs here.
To the person who wrote this comment, go cry me a river.
So you won't get your summer furlough. Oh, boo hoo. You are probably one of those that go crying to the Commander with the "But I've got a family" speech.
Everything changes. Every contract that I've been a part of has had the same nay sayers much like yourself. Everyone that has gone to arbitration has had the same results.......we gained nothing and gave up more than had we ratified it.
No contract will satisfy everyone.
