NYPD Getting Wired Up
- Thanks to a massive $160 million investment, the New York City Police Department is on its way to receive a combination of up to 41,000 smartphones and tablets. Known as the NYPD Mobility Initiative, which will be mostly financed by criminal asset funds provided by the Manhattan DA's Office, the goal is to provide the the city's law enforcement with tools that can improve and streamline their overall workflow. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said there are a few key elements to this plan, such as offering better case support for detectives, providing features including real-time 911 data, enhanced database access for patrol staff, quick entry points to info like Amber Alerts and email accounts for every officer.
The new Mobility Initiative is set to be funded over the next three years, with the NYPD expected to get a total of 35,000 handsets for officers and 6,000 cars equipped with ruggedized tablets. "In an emergency, every minute counts, and this initiative will allow our officers in the field to get up-to-date, accurate information and process critical information anywhere in the city.
Of course, this also means that every single transmission, recording or data transfer is discoverable, which is no doubt de Blasio's plan. Rahm would never be caught spending $160 million on the Department.

ELECTRONIC MONITORING
Each one of those smartphones is a GPS tracking device, a camera and a mic. that the NSA can turn on and off at will.
Welcome to the club boys!
Every move you make...
And you can bet every Mobility Device has 'find my device' (aka where's that officer) tracking inside it, too.
Discoverable...that's why when ever i get a message to call the station, CPIC, the dicks or sny other unit, i tell them I'll call when i get to the station.
If the department wants phone calls from the field, then give me a phone for department business or wait. Every time the sergeant gives me crap i ask to use his phone. That ends the crap.
The Nine-Digit-Midget won't spend money on vests or cars so 160 million for communications is not even considered
even if it means saving a cops life
If CPD were to do this, they would have to buy obsolete software from a "Minority/Woman owned business" by order of City Hall so Rahm can get a kick-back and the usual cast of "pink guys" from the 11th and 19th Wards get their dicks wet...
Shades of John Houseman in the old Smith-Barney commercial...
"Here in Chicago we make money the old fashioned way... We fuckin' steal it!"
Music starts old fashioned bass fiddle. Every breath you take, every move you make,I'll be watching you. Sting.
But you'll be stung.
Like you say in Chicago, "When seconds count, the police are minutes away."

** the 1st sentence says it all (massive investment) - will/would never happen here.
** will be mostly financed by criminal asset funds provided by the Manhatten DA'S Office? -Do you really think that the Crook County States Attorney would ever even donate a penny?
** and finally - NYC Mayor said there are a few key elements to this plan that would be positive to help basically every level of the department at NYPD. - The prick of the mayor here would never offer any money to "help" our department , he's gotta make a 650 million dollar pmt coming due to our pension , do you think he really would even think of helping any level of our department? hahaha all you can do is laugh.
let's see.... Depaul, Maggie Daley park, ...............NEVER!!!! EFEN city!!! not here, never!!
No surfing for porn on those devices.
Maggie Daley Park will have lots of cost over runs. Completing that boondoggle.... I mean fun place for kids is more important than any cop or fireman or teacher
No way that will happen here.
They cannot even keep the computers running. PDTs are either broken or out of range.
The computers in the station are sad. Who had the brilliant idea of replacing the computers in the processing area with laptops ?
The equipment on this department is deplorable. With the worst being the vehicles next being the computers.
If NY spends $160 million on three times the police, a proportional amount spent here would be around $50 million or so. Well, that won't happen either.
This LITTLE midget and his bff's one who I know very well and am very disappointed in would give a copper a cup of joe on his best day even De Blasio of NYC who I believe doesn't care to much for us spent the money not only for this stuff but the NYPD is 50x's better equipped than Chicago go there some time you won't believe it.3221
Buy a mobile phone blocker. Stick it in the little pouch and the phone is blocked.
Uh... Tablets are coming to the CPD.
Ruggerdised what the he'll is that?
Not to worry CPD......You'll never read the words in this article "massive....investment.." ever used when referring to the department
If Tiny Dancer was given $160 Million in **Free Money** he'd build Bike Lanes with it.
--- The 9.5 digit midget if questioned on its use: Huh??..what pension shortfall? What outstanding bills? What deteriorating equipment? And last but not least from Flaming Tutu: Potholes?..potholes? I don't see any stinkin' potholes! ---
Heaven forbid you invest that money in new cruisers, office equipment that works, overtime, or more hiring. It would be interesting to see who is connected to whom as far as what company is providing all the equipment.
Now more than ever, a LEO needs to have his head on a swivel and not buried in some electronic doo-dad. I cringe when I see coppers using their smartphones while on duty. A split second is all it takes for someone to get the jump on you, maybe even take your sidearm. It does happen.

Per State Statute: the prosecuting state's attorney's office receives 25% of every forfeiture.
In Crook County for the ASAs to take your case you better make sure their supervisor's pet project - CCROC - gets a little something - or they won't even take your case - ain't that right Skipper?

They have been spending that money for 25 years. It is no secret and is something they depend on in Cook County, Chicago etc. Spending the same money 5 times over is very similar to emptying the same offices of manpower 5 times. It is a pull the rabbit out of my hat trick. Look, nothing up my sleeve. The City of Chicago is a master at spending other peoples money.

Instructor from the academy, jumped, disarmed and murdered in old 007's parking lot. PO in 019, disarmed and killed by a bag lady. Two PO's from 025, one disarmed and both killed with first PO's gun. PO from 023, disarmed and killed with his own weapon by noise disturbance offender. Two PO's killed near 81st and Morgan, one PO disarmed and both killed with PO's gun.
There are more but those are all I recall during my career. I offered to buy my former partner a new level III holster to replace the ratty old strap holster that stuck out sideways. He wouldn't spend the money or take a holster from me as a gift. I had to stop working with him, too dangerous for me.
Be aware and buy a new retention holster every few years. Forget the $125 it costs, your life is worth more.
You're right. Rahm would never spend that kind of money on the department. He's got a Maggie Park and DePaul arena that he's using taxpayers dollars to pay for.

I guess you'll be 99 a long long time. Who the hell are you to tell anyone anything.

Hey dickwad! All this guy is saying makes sense. Officers don't take care of the important stuff that can save their lives. They only worry about bullshit like lunch. When's the last time you inspected your equipment and replaced something? I bet you're still wearing your academy vest. Spend some of the $ given to you in the uniform allowance for equipment instead of beer asshole!
We don't vote, not even in Our FOP elections. Next week I can't wait to cast in what is always a choice between the lesser of 2 evils.
We don't even like each other. A lot of the time U'r worrying about what's going on in U'r District as opposed to the street. Who's plotting on who, this boss is pissed at my partner or me for something trivial & more often then not taking it out on U or heaven knows it's probably a personal problem that the rank has & doesn't have it directed properly.
U just can't win. U ever see the guy/girl that knows the job, busts their ass, and still gets screwed with?
That's awesome for morale.
See ya tomorrow, Ladies & Gents. Just pulls ya in....

Depends on who gets the contract.
