Steady as She Goes

November 2014 has now surpassed November 2013 in total killings, making it the third straight month of increases. And there's still a week to go!
  • Three men were killed and at least 12 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening.

The most recent fatal shooting in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side left one man dead and another wounded early Saturday.
Crime is down! Somewhere. So we're told.

It is down in NYC; however, why worry about the number of shootings in Chicago. 90% or better of them are bad guys killing off bad guys. It's not like your best and most productive citizens are killing each other off.

With Thanksgiving this Thursday, a recurrence of the three Scandinavians arguing over the two turkey drumsticks is long overdue. The question will be whether one or two will be homicide victims. Will the tragedy occur on the South or West Side?

Crime is down everywhere! That's what they claim where I reside which is a polyglot of section 8, a crummy school district with 43% English as a second language students, and the joys of
multiculturalism and diversity. Actually it isn't joyous, but they do like to lie. No. Crime isn't down, just the reporting thereof. This is your "new" reality which is to ignore reality. I say again, Western Man, will you secure a future for your people, or will you not?

OT:

Obama was reported as saying it will be difficult to replace outgoing Sec of Defense Hagel.

What an insincere phony prick. Obama ASKED for Hagel's resignation! Hagel was the only Republican in the administration. Expect the next Sec Defense to be a liberal Hillary Clinton loving pussy who wants to negotiate with ISIS.

If I were Sec Defense, there would be the proverbial Aluminum Overcast over any city, town, village, hovel known to shelter ISIS operatives. They can talk to the North Vietnamese to find out how it feels to endure round the clock carpet bombing by flight after flight of B-52's. A reincarnation of General Curtis LeMay is what is needed.

Wherever ISIS goes, so goes many tons of good old fashioned American bombs. And no surgical strikes either trying to get the one ISIS fighter in a neighborhood in his bedroom. Rather, think a thunderstorm of bombs raining down upon the whole area.

"There goes the neighborhood" will take on new meaning. There it goes all right, back into the base elements of sand with bits of organic material..

Here we go again on that residency thing "in the contract." It isn't in the contract nor is it likely to be in the contract. It is City ordinance, backed up by a state law that applies only to Chicago. Of course, City legislators had it passed. You just try to get it repealed. Not likely to happen.

This is so true. If I could live in the south suburbs with our salary, well, I wouldn't be living rich but at least I won't have to live next to all the crime. Going home to a peaceful place WITH a nice sized lot that doesn't cost me half a million would make my career very satisfying. Working in this pit is enough, do we need to go home to it too? NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT!

Practice what you preach... You're posting an ANONOMYS comment as well! I'm not the original poster and I voted no for this insult of a contract, maybe you should of fought harder! I'm all for lifting residency too, it has been overturned in the courts for many departments, now put that in your pipe and smoke it! I would enjoy my retro check much more if you and your cronies didnt screw it up and have me lose my OT for a year... I will never drink the kool aid!
