Promotional Exams?
Someone said there's a sign up for an ET test. That probably means a class of ET's to be made shortly to burn the list out, but maybe not. In any event, long overdue. ET's are regularly handling homicides lately since there are only like seven Forensic Investigators any more. Sign up on CLEAR before 01 December.
Someone else said there is an announcement for K9? Both bomb dogs and drug-sniffers. We didn't think they had bottomed out those lists, but hey, any promotion is a good promotion nowadays. Does anyone know if that's on CLEAR, too?

The last ET exam was July, 2004. Well over ten years ago. Might as well not have the exams. I was on a motorcycle trip at the time, in the mountains of Montana and Wyoming and missed the test. Little did I know there would be no more ET exams for the reminder of my career. I retired recently. I don't miss the bullshit at all.
How about DETECTIVES!!!!! It's only been 10 years since the last test!

Those lists are 10 years old or so, they need to be renewed.
Anyone else notice the false sense of movement?? All of these things have been made "available" but no actual movement.
They did make some Mounted guys a little while back, but every other position has been stalled out.
Sergeant, SWAT, Marine Unit, Fugitive, etc., nothing has happened.

The city is under order to give entrance AND promotional exams AT LEAST every 7 years per the below court agreements.

During the last test some people claim they didn't get the last page. The department then deducted the last page from everyone's test. People with scores in the high nineties then got scores in the low eighties. There's your morale booster.

The canine thing was for a Lt to be C/O since the current one just retired.

I'm done studying boring and stupid general orders just so that I can sit on some list in a desk drawer for the next ten years in Headquarters!
Just work on your retirement money people! Your going to need it after Rahm and Rauner, and company steal it away from us, through cut backs and freezes!

Actually as of Oct 1 Sgt's were under staffed by 37 according to Chevrons the Sgt Union newsletter. Sure it's grown since we are in retirement season.
Next time call the photo lab directly when you need a Forensic investigator. There's one hiding in there.
I don't know anyone that got Canine or ET with out a phone call. My last glass of cool aid was 10 years ago

There's 400 more sergeants than there are detectives. We have enough sergeant's running around. Everywhere you go there's sergeants all around you. I agree with the first poster. It's going to be awhile before they make anymore sergeants but then again, that's thinking logically and we all know this department never does that.
they are still making detectives off old list because they are so short!we need a class of EVIDENCE TECHS NOW!we are very short,and can't wait for test to b given and the 6 month grading,then training!make a class now so they are up and running for spring thaw!!
Sgts down by at least 60, not sure where your getting your information of them being over staffed. That number should grow to over 100 by the new year. Check retirement seminars

Detectives don't want more detectives.. they make 120 hours over time a period being short handed !!! Don't u get that

Talk about screwing the guys on the current K9 list. They haven't hired shit off those lists and now there is another exam in less than 5 years. Come on already....hopefully they will promote a couple of more classes off the old list. At least give the guys a chance on their. Can someone explain why the budget shows 38 handlers and there is maybe 17? Where dopes all the budgeted money for that unit go too?.................. And they wonder why the moral is so bad on this job.
