Toy Gun
- The owner of a bakery in Calumet City shot a man who was using a toy gun to usher him and an employee to the back of the store during a robbery, police said.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cal City Bakery, near State Line Road and 154th Place in the south suburb, said Calumet City police Chief Edward Gilmore.
Unbeknownst to the bakery owner, one of the two men who tried to rob the store was wielding a toy handgun. The gun appeared “fairly realistic,” Gilmore said.
The owner of the bakery watched the robbery unfold from closed-circuit television from the center part of the building. The man with the gun ushered an employee and then the owner toward the back of the building.
The owner wondered why they were being taken to the back of the building after complying with the robbers' demands for cash.
There shouldn't be a store or store owner without a gun nearby after the Brown's Chicken massacre. The Chief of Police out in Calumet City pretty much cleared the bakery owner. Hopefully, the mayor out there gives him a medal.

Bakery owner was never in any danger of being charged. Chief Gilmore is like Dart. Never misses a chance to be on TV.
Good shoot all the way around, except for the fact that dude lived.
Anytime they change the scene of the crime, only bad things happen. Glad the owner was able to stop whatever the criminal had planned.
Never bring a squirt gun to a super soaker fight!
We need to shoot more robbers...
Then there would be less robbers...
Then there would be less shooting...
A word of caution, gangbangers in some parts have been painting their real firearms with toy paints colors like lime green, hot pink, bright yellow and so on. They do this so cops will hesitate to shoot them.
Just goes to show the gun ban is working when robbers have to use toy guns.
The store owner fired 7 times and hit the bad guy 7 times... someone PLEASE sign this guy up for the department. Accuracy like that is sorely needed.
Understand it was seven shots, seven hits. Nice work, fella. I raise my mug of tea to you, Sir.
Only baker in town with the "PISTOL" bar on the Marksmanship Medal pinned to his apron...
Cal City Bakery kicks ASS!
I heard Attorney General Eric Holder is opening a civil rights investigation just like h did to Zimmerman.
What's that you say? Only an agent of the government can violate one's civil rights?
Ya, that's what I thought too.
just a thought to make some go HMMMM...
How many other "crimes" have be thwarted by a concealed carrying card holders... We may never know...
If we don't allow public funds to be used to pay a felon's pension, I hope we don't allow public funds to pay for this guy's medical care. Seems fair to me.
Good shooting! Sir!
Good for him! And now, an outstanding idea for Illinois to follow, provided we actually execute the mf-ers vs letting them languish for years getting appeal after appeal: http://news.yahoo.com/utah-revives-plan-executions-firing-squad-202248379.html
Pull a gun on me and I shoot back. With my small 380 game over the Real Police later o
Any gun shops out there willing to up this Man a few box's of ammo for his expended rounds and troubles?
Nice Job Mr. Baker.
Chief Gilmore is usually on tv about officer involved shootings...and sticking up for the officer. How that reminds anyone of Dart, I do not know. On an inquisitive note: the guy made 7 of 7 shots at what appears to be close range, without lethal results. I'm kind of confused about why this makes him such a great shot. Most importantly he's alive and well without any injury.
Yep another bad guy bites the dust.. won't lose any sleep over this.. matter of fact I might just sleep better
Let's all go to this mans bakery and buy a pastry and shake his hand....good shooting!
**sheds a tear** ... I get all weepy when the 2nd Amendment is used properly. My hero this month is a Baker....bless you sir!
