Snow Causes Crime
- Five people were killed and at least 16 others have been wounded in shootings across the city since Saturday afternoon, police said.
The most recent fatal shooting happened Sunday evening in the West Pullman neighborhood.
About 5 p.m., police found a 30-year-old man unresponsive on the sidewalk in the 11600 block of South Racine with a gunshot wound to his back, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Someone got some 'splaining to do.

2014 going out with a bang ever since October (but actually September) just like 2011 did... Which spilled over and partially helped 2012s murder rate (though I doubt 2015 will have the same pleasant weather as 2012 did early in the year)

Hey SCC,
After the honor students posted a shutout on Friday - the first shooting/homicide-free day since 5/23 - they proceeded to run up the score with 5 dead and another 16 wounded through Sunday evening.
The same weekend last year tallied 1 dead and 18 wounded.
As an added bonus, we're already sitting at 24 homicides this month. Last November posted 28 for the entire month.

Note to any Alderman, or Alderman's staff who reads this blog and we know you do.
One thing I hate about winter is the money grubbing rip-off of the citizens known as SNOW TOWS, the Winter Parking Ban.
Now if you want to do right by your constituents do as some other Aldermen have done. Where there is a Snow Route on your patch; get some flyers printed, in English and Spanish, Polish or whatever warning people about it. Get some prescient Captains to put them on cars along the routes at night. Put your name on it as doing your people a favor because they will blame you if they get their car towed. Also be sure there is are warnings in the neighborhood papers.
One more thing. Every time we get a blizzard some rookie comes in and says he wrote a couple of books of parkers for those 2" Snow Routes signs. For any action to be taken for those signs that say, "when Snow is 2 inches or more" there has to be an emergency declaration by SNOW COMMAND, All-Call instructions and more. Usually then they just leapfrog tow cars out of the way without citations.
We need to ban snow.
We need to ban high-capacity snow.
No one needs to have assault snow.

Seriously where is the public outrage? People shot in cars people shot at a house party. FIVE dead on a cold November weekend. Not much police could have done about any of them. How about the reverends and community activists speak up? What no cameras? No one to sue? No money to be made so they really could care less. Pathetic.

"A surgeon who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone, Dr. Martin Salia, died Monday at an Omaha hospital.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share this news,” said Dr. Philip Smith, medical director of the biocontainment unit at the Nebraska Medical Center. “Dr. Salia was extremely critical when he arrived here, and unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we weren’t able to save him.”
"Dr. Salia, who is a citizen of Sierra Leone but lives in Maryland, had been working as a general surgeon at Kissy United Methodist Hospital in Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown. He arrived in Omaha on Saturday. It was not clear where he had come in contact with Ebola patients. Five other doctors in Sierra Leone have contracted Ebola; all have died."

Most people that live in West Pullman can be classified as non responsive.
Chicago needs a NYC type mayor and a NYPD type police force. NYC has it's gangs and crime under control and does not have these problems to the extent that Chicago does.
Is it true what the news is saying? That our president met with the Ferguson agitators and encouraged them?
Has the CPD considered consulting with the FBI (World's Greatest Crime-fighters, or asking the FBI for help/assistance?

Hey snow tow complainer---you make it seem that some citizens need a special explanation of the snow route no parking signs. Flyers nightly on their cars? Are you for real? Let me get this right- signs are posted yet they park there overnight anyway. And then you want some politician's cronies walking around overnight putting flyers on the cars telling them their illegally parked and going to be towed? You are way out of touch! Next time move your car.
Look at all those puffy FUBU jackets. Standing around in the cold seems like all day and all night. Who pays for those coats?

Who pays for the coats? I assume charity is giving those old and out of style things away.
Do you really have to work in patrol for a year after you get promoted? Can you get "detailed" to a unit before the year is up? Or is Sgt MV from 011 special like her wife the newly created business liaison sergeant spot for 018.

The position of business liason sergeant has been around for a while. However, i hear exceptions to the one year rule are made for friends of a powerful, ex-cop alderman. ;)

If they don't use the salt then the connected don't get to sell the salt and then they don't get to kick back to the politicians, so they must use the salt.
