"Safe Passage" not so Safe

  • A man was killed while sitting in a vehicle in the Englewood neighborhood near the Jesse Sherwood Elementary school, one of two people injured in daytime Chicago shootings.

At about 2 p.m., police responded to the 5700 block of of South Princeton Avenue for a shots fired call, said Chicago police spokesman Thomas Sweeney.

When police arrived they found a 21-year-old man in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Sweeney said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooting happened along a safe passage route near the Sherwood Elementary School, 245 W. 57th St.
Evidently, no one got the memo that the supposedly "safe" passages have been abandoned after the second week of school. No one from HQ is out guarding the kids, the firefighters are warm in their houses, the Streets people are supposedly patching potholes, cleaning streets, prepping the plows for winter....there isn't any one on the Safe Passages aside from the $10 per hour folks...but no one is checking that they're actually there....most times, they aren't. In fact, we're surprised Rahm didn't have someone out taking down the signs so something exactly like this didn't happen.

Violence spikes at school for illegal-alien youths

Feds won't tell sheriff who is living at mysterious 'academy'

Amid a looming showdown between Congress and President Obama over what to do with illegal immigrants, an Arizona sheriff is warning residents of his community about increasing criminal activity at a shelter for Central American teenagers who entered the country illegally this summer.

Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Arizona, released records this week showing an uptick in emergency 9-1-1 calls from the Sycamore Canyon Academy near the small town of Oracle. The facility has been providing free housing, food, medical care and education to about 40 Central American youths since late July when they came across the Southern border illegally.

The records show 13 calls between Aug. 1 and Oct. 10, up from eight calls in the same period the previous year. And the nature of the calls is trending toward more violence.

Eight of the 13 calls “were directly connected to acts of violence,” Babeu said, including five assaults on staff members and students. The sheriff’s records also show one report of a missing person and one incidence of marijuana possession at the facility since the young Central Americans, most of them between the ages of 12 and 17, showed up as wards of the federal government.

Nightwatchman clubbed with sack of soap

In one case, a 74-year-old night watchman at the facility was beaten on Oct. 8 by a 13-year-old boy from Colombia. The boy created a weapon by placing three bars of soap into a tube sock and then used it to strike the man in the back of the head.
This is the sock filled with soap used by one student to beat an elderly night watchman.

Paramedics arrived and treated the elderly man for severe bruises. The boy, Cristian Dakin, was taken to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Oracle Substation for questioning. But Dakin, just 13, was savvy enough to refuse to answer any questions or make any statements without a lawyer present. He was charged with aggravated assault and transferred to a juvenile detention center.

The sheriff attributes the spike in 9-1-1 calls from Sycamore Canyon Academy to the arrival of unaccompanied alien children or UACs, who were dumped there by the federal government on July 30.

In another incident, a teacher at the facility had reportedly been attacked by three boys trying to steal her car keys. She has since quit her job at the academy, sources in the community tell WND

Clearly, the safe passage signage was not visible or obscured. If the safe passage signs were clearly posted at regularly intervals and not obscured by trees, this homicide death may have been averted. Bad guys aren’t above the law and once they read these signs they will realize the severity of criminal actions in a school “safe” zone in a Cook County courtroom.

Officers must obtain an event number for a city service request mission writing up those missing and obscured safe signs. And to legitimize this mission, write those contact cards citing this is in conjunction with a post shooting mission. Officers would be as good as gold and praised for their stellar Comstat “police” work. How about the time tested march with students, parents, reverends, inside CAPS police personnel and resurrected Ceasefire signs publicized with appropriate accompanying media fanfare. Note: Students are required to obtain that after school taxpayer provided snack prior to dismissal.

Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Arizona? Wasn't he the LEO that refused to arrest or commit Jared Loughner, the whackjob that gunned down 6 people and wounded Gabby Lee Giffords?

Supposedly every one knew Loughner was loony, but since his mom was a clouted democrat in the county government, he was shuffled out of the system.

Nik Wallenda wants to keep his Guinness Book of World's Records daredevil status by vowing to do a death defying act and breaking his 455 foot cable walk from the Marina Towers to the Leo Burnett Bldg.

Wallenda will walk two blocks through Englewood at street level in a Safe School Zone.

Don't be a hero Nik...wear the damn blindfold!
