Off Duty Shot; Critical but Stable
- An off-duty police officer and her daughter were shot during a domestic dispute Tuesday night in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago Police First Deputy Supt. Al Wysinger told reporters early Wednesday.
About 10:05 p.m., the officer’s daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend were involved in a “domestic incident” in the 2200 block of East 68th Street, Wysinger said.
During the incident, the boyfriend shot the officer and her 21-year-old daughter, Wysinger said.
The 49-year-old officer was shot in the face, neck and both forearms and was listed in critical, but stable, condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Wysinger said. Her daughter also was taken to Northwestern with a gunshot wound in her thigh. Her condition had stabilized.
After the shooting, the daughter’s 2-year child was taken by the shooter but has since been recovered, Wysinger said.
Offender in custody.
The paper also mentions that this is the fourth officer shot in a month. Prayers for the injured.

Prayers for the police officer and her daughter .
I never understood the Critical but Stable status. It's either or.
Hopefully Stable
God speed to recovery...
Good thoughts offered for the office,
However---the second in command of the CPD should not be speaking Ebonics at press conferences.
It isn't Norfwestern Hospital idiot!
Prayers to the family..
The officer probably knows he has a violent streak, but the fkn do-gooders have you, the police second guessing yourself's.More of you are going to get hurt !
Who teaches their children to settle a verbal argument with a gun? Three decades on the job and I never once thought to go for my gun when there was an argument in the house.
Sounds like the boyfriend is right where he belongs. Hope he stay there.
G_d speed to a good recovery and I wish you and your family the best.
Richard

He didn't pronounce the word correctly...gee that isn't a Chicago stereotype at all. Doesn't sound like ebonics to me, sounds like Chicago. Da Bears!
Yeah no shit there will be plenty of second guessing from now on. Our glorious leaders have decided to strip officers for any police shooting.
Alfonza"200 grand" Wysinger knows how to speakifies. I have me a Master's degree in public administration from IIT.
My collie could pass that course.
Another one of our own in need of some prayers.
Pray for her as well as ALL our fellow first responders.
The Lord only knows we can use all the help we can get.
Stay Safe!
Trying to protect her daughter. Admirable.
OT :
This just in from the Wall Street Journal:
Federal officials are examining the connections between Boston financial giant State Street Corp. and an Ohio lobbyist as part of a broader look at the company’s dealings with public pension funds, according to people familiar with the investigations....
In Ohio, the investigation in part concerns the relationship between lobbyist Mohammed Noure Alo and Ohio’s then-deputy treasurer, Amer Ahmad. The men were in touch roughly 14 times a day over a certain period via text and phone, according to court testimony from an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The treasurer’s office had oversight of the contract. State Street disclosed the investigations in a filing Monday without providing details...
Ahmad Amer? Name is familiar, right? The guy Rahm brought here to be the city Comptroller. Geez.
norfwestern or norwester leave the political hack alone
Prayers to the Officer and family.
God bless her and her child.

Tell your collie he failed to teach you the difference between a degree program and a course.

An officer's life was nearly taken, and that's what you focused on? No wonder the job is in the condition it is. Unbelievable.
Yeah, don't call 911, call your mama..
Poor Poor Alfonza, he is so out of his element, used to shuck and jiff when he was a tac man in 15, now making all dat money has made him look like a Robot on TV. The dept. should send him to Peter Karl Productions to learn how to deal with the media. But then again, Bring back Pat Camden. The master of spin and gets along with all the news media, he takes no enemies.!!!!!!!
There is no "th" in Ebnics. It's "norfside, "soufside" and I guess maybe no "t"s" on occasion, like "wesside".
You dare to criticize someone for sloppy diction! That's how one speaks, not what you're packing. A spokesperson, (see how politically correct I can be!) should be articulate. When I was a freshman at a City College, the English Professor told us that if we wanted to travel in circles above where we currently were, we needed to speak English correctly. He would say that you'd open your mouth and everyone would know where you came from and if you belonged. I suppose if you're in politics, speaking well is not always necessary.

I wish you Al haters had seen him when he was a street copper, he was very good at what he did. Don't all of the cops, even us "white guys" shuck and jive on the street. That's how the Police try to relate to the folks that we Police. If all the street coppers now days had the work ethic that AW did in his street days, we would have a great department. Please don't speak of what you obviously don't know.
Signed,
A Det who does know.

The people that preach who cares and get over it are really the ones that need to get a life. This really gets old. Most of the time you don't even understand what's being said in the post.
Just turn your hat backwards and call everyone Dude. I am sure that would be acceptable to you.
When you are a spokesperson, you represent the department. If you can't speak properly, it makes us all look like goofs. It is also disrespectful to the involved officer.

I've read this Blog for many years and have only commented once before ! All you Al "haters" don't know him at all . All you see is The First Deputy you don't like .
I'm a Retired White guy who worked for Al years ago when he was a Sgt .! Most of you Ebonics commentators couldn't hold a candle to Al as a P.O. Or as a human being !! One of the "best" and "classiest" men I have ever worked for in my 30 yrs on the Job .
And I know for a FACT that Al knows the injured P.O. Very well and she would say the exact same thing !!!
