Merry Christmas

During this time of the year, we wish our readers a very Merry Christmas from everyone here to you and yours.

In light of recent events, we must also wish you a safe and sane shift if you are spending time away from what matters most. Be safe, be careful, be aware. There are too many families with nothing but memories of loved ones gone this year. And there are at least four police families who will only remember the pain of the Christmas season for the foreseeable future.

God Bless you all.

As usual, open post and light posting to be expected.

Merry Christmas CPD from retired ISP. Sipping Christmas whiskey with my boys; one graduating college in spring, his younger blowing off a baseball scholarship to join the USAF. Proud of both, praying for both. Just to be safe and happy with the row they decided to hoe. I taught them to be respectful, polite, and honest. I think so far it is working.

SOmehow we have substituted common sense for political correctness. We trample rights and values because someone had their feelings hurt. Or a belief was disrespected. Facts no longer matter, reality is up for grabs for whoever can grab the longest soundbyte at CNN, or can text a hot scoop to the Huffington Post. SPeed before accuracy. Fuck the facts I have a deadline.

I'm glad that I have retired from ISP, but sad for those doe-eyed cadets who sign up thinking that the concept of integrity actually exists.

I sincerely wish you luck and peace. Take care of each other because nobody else will.

They hate America, religion, cops and anything good and decent. Don't let them get you down. Be proud of your American values.

Oh, SCC by the way, check out the article on Breitbart about the fans at the New York Rangers hockey game. The NYPD Color Guard showed up to present the colors during the anthem, and the fans gave the NYPD a standing ovation! Very nice and classy, Rangers fans.

I really have to say that I'm not handeling the anti-police movement the last few months very well. I'm depressed and pissed off at the same time. I hate the lies and hate the people who believe the lies even more. It's like I'm waiting for the end of the one of those movies where we the viewers know the main charcter is right but no one in town believes him. It isn't till the end that they all see what we've know the entire time and he's vindicated and we all feel just. Maybe I'm to far gone. I used to be funny and now I'm a miserable person. OFF TOPIC:

Ex Commander Glen Evans made a tearful visit to the 3rd Watch roll call yesterday in 011. Saggy pants, dress shirt half tucked in, and handgun almost falling out the front of his pants (no hoster). Wanted to Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and New Year then went on a rant about how this department has changed, bosses don't have a spine anymore and how soon future robots will replace the everyday beat officer.........(he absolutely had to have been a little tipsy to be talking "robot talk"). He then thanked all the military veterans who served and said he will be enlisting as soon as his shit gets settled. (Isn't there an age limit to join military??). He then saluted everyone and left. It was very bizarre to say the least.

12/24/2014 11:10:00 PM

If this is true - any part of it - it should be considered prima facie evidence of why that nutjob shouldn't be at the helm of anything north a janitorial staff. And no doubt those impressionable hairgels that crossed lines to bring in numbers for that goof gave him a standing ovation. Yeah Glenn, the department HAS changed. Too bad you didn't get that memo. I hope you asked Santa for a gun cleaning kit. Jackass.

Merry Christmas and GOD Bless to you and all of your's SCC. Thank You for being the tireless voice and an advocate for truth, common sense and reason.

The Policeman is under attack because he dares to BE a Policeman and stand on the side of what's right instead of standing with a corrosive agenda and the small, cowardly and raisin-hearted men who promote such.

Whole and intact Policemen cause them sleepless nights.

A voice and an advocate for Policemen disturbs them even more. It's harder for them to dictate the narrative and run the table by maligning the very people charged with guardianship/protectorship of society.

However imperfectly such is rendered...

Humans struggling to do God's Work
versus those who hate the good that
we stand for because they know that their
small, hollow, craven selves are totally
lacking in the fortitude to sign up and
honorably serve.

Plenty of Policemen...
Never beat an ass that wasn't deserving.
Never took a penny that wasn't theirs.
Are mindful of the big picture and all that implies.
Work within the law.
Serve long, honorably and PROUDLY!

The Joyful Haters fixate on "You guys are mere public servants so act the part."

It galls them that Policemen dare to stand erect and not be the servile, cowed into submission hirelings they desire Policemen to be.

You see... As The Police go?
So goes society.

The Policeman stands for something.
Something that is good, deeply cherished
and dearly held.

Joyful Hater says Policemen think too much of
themselves and upright society thinks too much
of The Police.

Matthew 5:9
"Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the Children of GOD."

Merry Christmas and GOD Bless us all.

Most people appreciate polic and the military. Two exceptions: media and it seems the government itself.

You'd expect that type of behavior from radicals, but now the radicals are in the gov't: judges, professors, aldermen, congressmen, etc.

It's sad what this country has become.

In Illinois, just about anywhere outside of Cook County. McHenry County has a high percentage of working class people. Not big money, but earn about the same as a cop, solidly middle class, solidly conservative and not too much crime.

Mountain Home, Arkansas. There are a few CPD retirees down there.

Most places in Idaho. It's a favorite LAPD retirement area.

The FBI often disseminates information to law enforcement agencies and personnel. This information is sometimes marked "UNCLASSIFIED/FOUO(For Official Use Only)". This designation means that while "Unclassified" the information is "Law Enforcement Sensitive" and should be handled per federal guidelines. These guidelines include the caveat that Law Enforcement Sensitive information NOT BE POSTED ON A PUBLIC INTERNET SITE. The FOP is now posting this information on their public website in violation of these federal guidelines. Just because something is "Unclassified" doesn't mean anyone can read it. The FOP tried to do something good but as usual did not know what the fuck they were doing. I guess that's what happens when you haven't been the police...ever. Right Dean?

You say you want to know what life is like in retirement? It's fucking great. While I didn't really want to leave as I loved the job, leaving was one of the best things I've ever done. No more pressure. No more HAVING to do anything. No more traffic congestion sitting on the expressway trying to get to work on time. I get up when I want, work out, eat breakfast, go visit the grandsons, go home read a book or watch a movie. Stare out the window watching the deer or coyotes walk by. Wondering if I should snow blow the driveway now or wait till tomorrow. Or maybe the next day. Go to dinner if I feel like it or maybe pop a frozen pizza in the oven. Stay up late or go to bed. It doesn't matter. I can sleep in or get up early. And this is in the winter time. In the summer it's which lake I should take my jet ski to. Should I go bike riding today or should I go running?
The ONLY thing I miss are the guys and the excitement of the job. That's it. No more Rahm Emanuels,Richard Daleys, Gary McCarthys or Jody Weis, no more whining little wiper snapper complaining about how rough they have it, how they didn't get an official lunch even though they already ate. Well.
In short, life in retirement is good. Stay safe and you too will enjoy it one day.
Oh yeah, when you do leave, GET THE FUCK OUT OF CHICAGO! I did and I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted of my back. Plus, the cost of living has been reduced by about 50%. I became a Packer fan real easy.

Jim McMahon, former CFD injured off duty on motorcycle several years ago dies of massive heart attack Christmas Day. A wonderful man, never gave up. Even though he was a confined to a wheel chair, he was truly a stand up guy. Rest in peace Jim, I'm sure you & Jon O'Connor will be coaching from the heavens. Bless you for all the knowledge you shared with me to help my son.

I don't even care about Christmas anymore. I guess I could use some prayers.

Please talk to someone who can get you back on track. Know that most people don't agree with those idiot protestors and know that the police are the best service government provides.

May God Bless you and lead you safely out of your time of darkness.

Couple thoughts...

great thread.

I read the comment about how much the current things going on right now can bring us down and
while I feel exactly the same, it's so true that most people in this country DO NOT feel that way, not by a long shot.

The media needs to stay alive in desperate competition with new media/digital age gobbling up the old customer for print and tv news programming.

Keep your head up, man. This is a bit of a darkage as journalism cannibalizes itself selling lies for young mush head audiences and ad revenue.

Meantime, this country is so racist and oppressive that millions still risk everthing to make the trek to get here from all over the world?

Don't believe that. WE KNOW BETTER.

This country is still leaps and bounds the best bet for freedom and opportunity, just ask any immigrant to tell you why he left home.

Now...guess what? You have the honor, and chose to be duty bound, to help protect that greatness, to keep this country what it is...exceptional!

Thank you to the retirees. Keep those stories coming.

And to the guy feeling down. I'm right there with you. Go find something you used to do. Take a weekend and force yourself to do that stuff you put off because you can't bring yourself to find it worth doing anymore.

Something silly and fun. Allow yourself to put all that shit aside for a while.

Surpise an old friend. Call up that old girlfriend. The one that's always up for spontaneous trouble making.

Road trip somewhere where you can watch people behave the way they don't behave wherever you work.

That 99 per cent you always hear about?

The truth is, 99 per cent of Americans don't hate the police.
They are the ones who know police violence is not a crisis.
They are the people who know what violence would really look like in this country if we DIDN'T do what we do everyday.

To 02:39 am. Obviously you are drunk or can't read the FBI bulletin is un classified. Sober up you are an embarrassment.

From: Bring it.
The shit is classified Unclassified//FOUO (Which means for official use only)

That F...ing means "don't put it on the open internet."

I'm not drunk, and totally understand security classifications. My bet is that you don't or are a Communist/Democrat.

Merry Christmas to all those at CPD and SCC from "the guy on a bike" at Finance.

12/25/2014 08:43:00 PM

You seem like a nice guy. We need to find you a different job, though. Merry Christmas to you, too.

====================

Thanks for that. unfortunately due to the screwed up hiring process for the 2006 test, I got a call number of 86 and never got called back until it was time to take the test in '10 or '11. They called me for my invite to the academy in 13... 6 weeks before I turned 40.

I've accepted I can't use my degree and be a PO in this city. But at least I have a city job.

Happy New Year to all.

Understand that you didn't cause the current situation and there is little you can do about it. You, like many of us, are caught up in the tidal wave of police hatred that is part of the massive "Not my fault" movement plaguing many of the communities we patrol.

You didn't do it and you cannot fix it. Roll along with the wave and enjoy your life regardless. Don't keep fighting to get the wave going somewhere else. Do your best and don't expect anyone else to notice, except those who know you and love you.

Years ago I got counseling for similar feelings. It goes away. Your life goes on. Happiness returns. Really. There are innocent people out there who need what we do and depend on us behaving professionally. That is why I go to work. Remember, our patron saint. St Jude, is the patron saint of hopeless causes. That isn't by accident brother.

Take care.
