I think that's crazy if it's true, other than that I'm just staying focused and hopefully I get lucky to become a chicago police officer in the future. To every first responder out there stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and Happy new year.
I didn't vote for Dean and Co., and while I agree that the last regime had to go, this crew is not the answer either.

Worked about 15 Christmas' and pretty nearly every Thanksgiving.
Some pretty crappy holiday dinners.

When I sit down for dinner; a prayer of thanks will be said for each first responder working.
Yes I will pray for CFD as they have their holiday feast.
The thing is; I doubt I will be the only retiree saying a prayer for you guys.

At the press conference Monday at Angelo called for ADDING 2000 police officers.
I heard form K.K. that every aldermanic candidate that asked for an endorsement Monday is willing to pay the pension 550 million out of the tiff funds and most think that can hire more po's but none of them is willing to go to 2000 more. 200-500 more in order to cut ot. maybe Now let's see if any of them have the balls or the horse power to go up against 9.5 short.

Dean was surely promised something for selling out the membership, just like every other FOP regime since I've been on. Not a fan of the Kid Shields, but as more time passes and things come to light, it's not a stretch to see that the leftovers from the Donahue regime set him up to fail as he was beginning to upset the FOP Apple Cart as the good Ol' boys knew it.
If history again repeats itself, you guys will be able to vote for changes in the next contract sometime in 2019-20

I have been going to Fop meetings for the past 10 years. Dean never went to meetings until a year before the election. He showed his face and all you suckers voted for him. The same guy who was caught STEALING money from the FOP and is now back at the FOP earning 700K per year. That's right 700K per year over a 3 year period. Second, the Archbishop spoke to the issue that at times each of us is overwhelmed in life by circumstances. SCC, your post is a little confusing. I am assuming that you are talking about the new schedule in 005. Just like the proposed contract settlement, some P.O.s look at the 10.5 hour schedule and think about how it would effect them in the short term. They don't look at the bigger picture. Eliminating an entire watch would require far fewer P.O.s. (I think.) I haven't seen the math but I have heard others, like you, mention that the City would get by with 2,000 less. Can anyone show how they came up with the figure of 2,000?

I wrote the comment about avoiding mass. To clarify, I have been a devoted catholic my entire life. I believe in the mission of the Catholic church. However, I seen the video of the service and the posture orante coincided with dialogue that could and was interpreted as demeaning by many. If this was unintentional and I am mistaken about my perception of the message , I apologize. Today it seems acceptable to condemn all police officers as racist and murderers. It is disgusting. When a police officer has to take a life, it is a burden that is carried for a lifetime. When protestors continue to send a message that we are murderers, the church should either stay out of it completely or reinforce that fact that the last thing a police officer wants to do is take a life.

Ex Commander Glen Evans made a tearful visit to the 3rd Watch roll call yesterday in 011. Saggy pants, dress shirt half tucked in, and handgun almost falling out the front of his pants (no hoster). Wanted to Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and New Year then went on a rant about how this department has changed, bosses don't have a spine anymore and how soon future robots will replace the everyday beat officer.........(he absolutely had to have been a little tipsy to be talking "robot talk"). He then thanked all the military veterans who served and said he will be enlisting as soon as his shit gets settled. (Isn't there an age limit to join military??). He then saluted everyone and left. It was very bizarre to say the least.

Probably for the same reason Chicago can't run without 50 aldermen...but seriously, IF less police is the answer here you can't prove it with everything blowing up and out of control as it is.
I understand that a lot of guys/girls aren't Christians and don't believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. For those of us who are, you might want to check out the book of Malachi in the Bible and see what scripture says about people who withhold offerings from the body of Christ. I'm not even a Catholic but goodness sakes...if you think you're teaching anyone a lesson by not making offerings, you have a poor understanding of the God you serve and the Bible He inspired, which condemns your "financial boycott." If the church is that bad leave, otherwise you're a hypocrite to come and partake of what is paid for with an offering you refuse to make.Don't you see enough people with hearts like this on calls to understand this? Play politics with the church and you hurt your faith...God will preserve His church whether you participate or not. Isn't that what Jesus told Peter?

LA's municipal organization is vastly different then Chicago too.
The LA County Sherriff's Dept. bears a lot of the patrol burden within the LA city limits. They effectively have two police departments.
Finally, as others have pointed out Chicago has a seriously huge population of hard-core, 5th-6th generation gang members.
This culture was intentionally allowed to flourish by the political/religious establishment and their financial masters.
Now, that establishment wants to crater your pension and use the money to subsidize the underclass to keep them on the farm.
The 10 hour day accelerates this.

L.A. calls to 9-1-1 have a bad reputation for long waiting time to be answered. L.A. also has a very large and active L.A. County Sheriff's Department patrolling the streets was well as the California Highway Highway Patrol close by. They also have the Los Angeles School Police Department with 350 sworn officers, 126 non-sworn officers as well as civilian staff.
So stay off our blog. You don't like us don't call 9-1-1, stay behind your triple locked doors and shuttered windows and watch cable TV and surf the web. Don't go out at night and if you run into some youth about to turn his life around by bashing your brains into a coma because you were white or he wanted your phone just think about what Al Sharpton would say if you saved your life by unloading a legally carried to end the attack.
