Third NYPD Escapes Death

  • A third NYPD cop narrowly escaped with his life Saturday night when a suspect pointed a gun twice at him and pulled the trigger in The Bronx — not realizing the weapon was empty.

Cops had gone to East 140th Street in Mott Haven at 9 p.m. after getting a report of a man shooting out windows with a .357 caliber revolver.

They spotted the suspect, Raymond Leonardo, 17, and ordered him to drop the gun. Instead, he took aim at one of the officers and pulled the trigger two times, officials said.

When the gun didn’t work, he put it in his pocket and ran, authorities. Cops tackled him a few blocks away.
That is some bold-as-brass shit.

If he pointed it at the officer and pulled the trigger twice....why was he allowed to run away ? I hope police are not second guessing themselves and gambling with their own lives because of all this bullshit in Ferguson.

Is this going to be one of those "Leave it to Beaver" moments?

Remember those? The Beave screws up and June tells him--"wait until your father gets home"!

I remember being more afraid of what my father could do to me than I was of the police.

Herein lies the difference.

Here's an example of a police officer showing extreme restraint. This happens way more often than shooting of unarmed black men. Why isn't this publicized?

Did they second guess themselves?

No shots fired?

I hope there is a very good reason why that officer didn't shoot and kill that fucking animal and it's not because of the recent events in New York that is making those guys hesitate . Don't second guess rely on your training if your not tactically minded you need to get there in a hurry our climate has just changed for the worse if you are on this job you better fucking tac up we lost two in New York one in Florida and the bad guys said there actions were as a result of recent goings on to me that's a declaration of war and I will be ready for what the day brings if you point a gun at me I'm gonna defend myself I'm not gonna wrestle you to the ground

By the end of the week, the real "suspect" here will be the NRA according to the chattering class. They are making this goof to be nuts and they will wonder how he got a gun....So...this will be a push for more, not less, gun control.

Its the left's play book.

all LAPD street units are ordered to be two officers, including traffic and supervisors,,,,no L units.

too bad we can't do that here because Rahm insists on low manpower levels as part of the running the CPD on the cheap

Why wasn't deadly force used in this situation? Cops should have lit the guy up as soon as he pointed the gun at them.

nothing new here... just a different level of asshole, in 20 years, as society shifts. This will be an everyday occurance. As far as I know, this shift in society is intentionally being done by you know who. been going on for about 30 years or so

They could have killed him and given the race baiting white hating "ministers" and politicians another reason get in front of the cameras and incite more looting (just in time to get those last minute Christmas gifts).

Why wouldn't they shoot him? Let me guess because now we are waiting to see if it's a real gun, if it's loaded and to see if they are really serious about shooting it? Why anyone stays on this job who can leave is beyond me.

About 25 years ago a person with a gun pointed it at me and my partner. We unloaded on him however with the +p ammunition he then turned and ran. ME report 8 hits through & through. The next day I went out and purchased a S&W 45 cal long colt. Never again. Guys don't second guess your selves. Know your departments policy shoot / don't shoot and know it like your life depends on it IT DOES. Stay safe my brothers.

SMDH. How can someone point a gun at a cop and pull the trigger 2 times and then put the gun away and run. He should of gotten a lead injection right there on the spot. You point a gun at me and pull the trigger 1 time, I will be returning fire until you stop to move......ijs

So, then by Liberal definition, the guy was un-armed?

I wasn't there, but I can speculate why the police did not shoot.

They were afraid to shoot.

They saw what happened to the Ferguson Officer who defended himself.
They didn't want that to happen to them.

This is bad.

So true. Makes sense to them. They already expect us to let people/folks shoot at us first, before we fire.

I think we're all missing the obvious point here.

This is the kind of thing that happens dozens of times a day around this country. The police are in a situation where they are in mortal danger, yet somehow manage to arrest the offender when they had EVERY legal right to kill him.

On those rare occasions where there is no choice left to us except to eliminate the threat lethally, we are crucified for it.
