- We have received multiple calls from Officers regarding their Duty Availability checks being short. Representatives from the Lodge contacted Finance, and were told that Officers received checks based upon the 2012 rates, instead of 2014. Finance has informed us that the increase which was to be reflected in today’s Duty Availability check will be added to your regular payroll check on January 16, 2015.
Also, word that retro is coming 26 January - that butts right up against the deadline for interest to be paid in the event that someone at Finance screws up again.
Want to be this Duty Availability wasn't an error, but a deliberate fuck up?

U wanna know why retro went from the first week of jan till the 26th of jan. After the city council approved it on 5 nov Emmanuel let it sit on his desk for almost two weeks before signing it.. Yes boys and girls, the clock doesn't start when approved by the city council like so many believe.. It's from when the mayors pen hits paper. And tell me again how this guy likes us and deserves our vote.. Cmon fioretti. Yes, he sued the police in cases but he also defended numerous coppers in civil and criminal cases back in the day.. Looks like the new schedule for 10- hour day will come in effect in 2016. guess mclovin wants to push his agenda. The hours for the ten hour shift. Start times for days is morning shift is 5,700, 0900. Afternoons slash/midnights 1530,1700,1800. Then there's a 2100, 2200 start which will be for a hospital detail car, and an extra wagon. However where are they going to find radios, pdts, and those 400 new cars we are supposed to get? Because all the new cars are going to bosses. Do you think people are going to want to work four deep in a squad car? Dean really hid everything for us, wait till it all comes out on the 20th it should be interesting. be safe out there especially after the massacre in Paris.

The question is the retro check going to be a hard check, or a direct deposit check. Given the example, should the retro check be hard then expect the check deposited by the individual employee not to clear before 27, or 28 Jan. 2015. If the check is direct deposit then the monies would be 23 Jan. 2015. Six years ago, if my memory serves me right the checks were hard checks. The reason for the hard checks is that the City gives the analysis of the retro monies with the check.
Their reasoning was: these cops can't count, they were stupid enough to vote yes on this s**t contract.
I vote Deliberate.
When so many people are stealing in City government, it is difficult to keep track.
It might be a Q tip but I have the feeling it's Rham's dick in our ears.
If the finance division cannot figure out this simple stuff, what types of “qualified” individuals are cutting the checks for the city? Lots of people signing off on these disbursements as they move up the chain in finance. Maybe some should inquire on the lackadaisical approach of cutting checks with the people’s money and the apparent lack of checks and balances.

We better hope it was deliberate. At least that way we know the people in finance are competent. If it was an error or mistake, how will they wever be able to figure out our retro,raises and anything else related to our salaries.

The amount isn't the question. The problem is if finance makes a mistake on a simple thing like duty availability what are they going to do with the other checks.
The problem with FOP trying to verify your retro check is every officer will have a different amount depending on OT(after first year) holidays worked and even if there were seniority raises involved during that time.
Election time matters not, Hair Gels and those heading out the door sold the whole Department out by accepting this contract for a Retro! Rahm realizes this election is no cake walk. He has been running T.V. commercials since October and I have been phone polled three times already. Rahm is worried, and FOP could have gotten a better deal if they had held out.
I recall Fire getting their retro checks earlier than the deadline.
Then again Rahm was never quoted as saying he might stick it in the ear of Fire.
This slimy bastard needs to go..... the problem is lack of candidates running that are capable of beating the prick.

This guy is right. We where in the same academy class and I know he would make a good sgt. At 6 years he knows more than you 20 something dog asses, who complain, and voted for the contract because you are scared. He was head of student council at Morton community college and active in the debate team, so you know he can get things done.

Lets do the math, $5000 in uniforms, average paycheck during the academy? say $1200, guys paying $1000 rent or so. by the time someone goes through the academy, dude is in debt.
when I say that cops back in the day, made more money... now you see why. On average, the police pay has dropped about $25,000 USD circa 2014 since the 1950s. For all those guys who did not take math; it is $25,000 dollars in 2014. NOT 1995 dollars, not 2005. On average, the value of a dollars decrease 3% due to inflation. So if your pay is not gone up 3% every year, you are do the job for less money from year to year

Do you know why Dean and the FOP0 the union that is supposed to watch out for our interests can get away with it? Because we let them, that is why. We don't hold these fuckers accountable so in the end whom do we have to blame? None other than ourselves.
By having ten hour days; the city just solved their problem of not having enough officers. But for us, that is 2000 or so less officers on the force and also paying less into our pension. That means even less money will come into our pension, it will go broke and then the city can say "sorry, we will put you into a 401K/defined contribution plan, have a nice day".
Remember, in the end, we can be proactive. Or we can just keep taking it on the chin. In the end, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Don't worry about cars and radios.. The vri cars and radios will be used. Vri is gone when the 10 hour days start due to much more manpower on the street. Plan is that vri cars will be evaluated and the older ones not in the best shape will be put either in the pool car system or swapped out for a better car from area sat teams.. That way the better cars can be used in patrol. The city ordered 394 cars which are to be delivered june/July this year including 30 2015 Chevy caprices to be used as marked vehicles for sgts in districts as a trial. Got a huge deal from Chevy who is trying hard to get back into the police car market which ford and dodge are now dominating. Another 125 Ford Explorer and sedan cars will be delivered January of 2016. If ten hour days happen fleet will have more than enough cars. The majority of these cars being delivered are not to be used as replacement cars but as new additions so only few cars, obviously the worst of cars will be replaced and scrapped or sent to the pool. In my opinion 55-65 percent of the vri will be put in the pool system and 20 percent will be scrapped and the rest are decent enough to go back to patrol as a utility car ie park car, hospital detail, station security caps car or incident team car.. Cars that won't have to be used for 24/7. Either way cars as of this June and July won't be an issue.. Just TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!!!!!

The 75 day count down clock started the day 9.5 signed the city counsel resolution - which was the last day he could. Latest checks could be issued without paying interest is 3 Feb 14. Finance division said they will have the checks out week of the 26th. Got the info at the unit rep meeting. Was your unit rep at the meeting? Was also disclosed at the last general meeting.
Every answer from FOP when I call is, "We are working on it" and "We are busy". Never in my 24 years has the responses been this bad! Call FOP and see for yourself! Even on small questions like: where is the 2015 Holiday calendar?

There too consumed with pumping up the bio's for the friends of Dean and minimizing the bio's of board members that ran against them. Had someone from "Fleet and Facility Management" show up at a CAPS meeting last night. After the meeting a curious fellow taxpayer asked the person why they were there.
Answer: Sent by City Hall to see if there were as many people at CAPS meetings as CPD was stating. Added that they were going to the higher attended meetings to see how many citizens were "being touched by police."
Had a form she was filling out. This person was no rocket scientist, so hopefully it required no more than check marks.
But checking attendance on a night when its so cold the freaking schools were closed?

This guy is right. We where in the same academy class and I know he would make a good sgt. At 6 years he knows more than you 20 something dog asses, who complain, and voted for the contract because you are scared. He was head of student council at Morton community college and active in the debate team, so you know he can get things done.

LOLOLOL I was in the academy with these guys also. We had nicknames for them Recruit Dewalt and Recruit Craftsman...because they were both fucking tools.
Don't worry about cars and radios.. The vri cars and radios will be used. Vri is gone when the 10 hour days start due to much more manpower on the street. Plan is that vri cars will be evaluated and the older ones not in the best shape will be put either in the pool car system or swapped out for a better car from area sat teams.. That way the better cars can be used in patrol. The city ordered 394 cars which are to be delivered june/July this year including 30 2015 Chevy caprices to be used as marked vehicles for sgts in districts as a trial. Got a huge deal from Chevy who is trying hard to get back into the police car market which ford and dodge are now dominating. Another 125 Ford Explorer and sedan cars will be delivered January of 2016. If ten hour days happen fleet will have more than enough cars. The majority of these cars being delivered are not to be used as replacement cars but as new additions so only few cars, obviously the worst of cars will be replaced and scrapped or sent to the pool. In my opinion 55-65 percent of the vri will be put in the pool system and 20 percent will be scrapped and the rest are decent enough to go back to patrol as a utility car ie park car, hospital detail, station security caps car or incident team car.. Cars that won't have to be used for 24/7. Either way cars as of this June and July won't be an issue.. Just TAKE CARE OF THEM!!!!!!!!

The question is the retro check going to be a hard check, or a direct deposit check. Given the example, should the retro check be hard then expect the check deposited by the individual employee not to clear before 27, or 28 Jan. 2015. If the check is direct deposit then the monies would be 23 Jan. 2015. Six years ago, if my memory serves me right the checks were hard checks. The reason for the hard checks is that the City gives the analysis of the retro monies with the check.

Pension checks for the recently retired haven't been adjusted with an increase yet.
Wonder how bad the retro checks will be shorted? As it is the pension board has not even updated pension calculator,I called pension board and was told they had no idea when they could give a firm answer on monthly retirement checks!

When I was new on the job the old timers had ways f dealing with stroke sergeants. One sergeant had to keep his personal car in the w/c's garage in 024 because the old guys (from 020) would let the air out of his tires etc. Another sergeant in another district had his locker burned out. They squirted lighter fluid into it through the louvers and then tossed a match inside. There was more but those old guys really did a number on the pricks. Sort of like fragging in Vietnam.

Very different. I'm not a Rahm fan or voter, but the fact is, there is only one Delblowhole. Rahm has a bit more smarts than Delblowhole and quite frankly I have never heard Rahm bash the police even a little. If Rahm would hire more police and blame the pension mess on the politicians that caused it he wouldn't be so bad. Delblasio's comments, actions and his love affair with sharkton contributed to the murder of police officers.

Respect the old timers and learn some things from them, believe me, they could teach you things that will save your butt from being fired or killed one day. You sure about that slick? Do yourself a favor. Do an employee search on the clear system and break down our department. The city stopped hiring for the most part after 2007. Our department got very very old very fast. Incoming classes have all been small. When you do the search you will find that more than 2/3 or 66 percent of our department has over 19 years on the job. We also know that the older guys ALL vote during elections and contracts.. The young fireballs couldn't care less and are lazy when it comes to voting. Every old timer I talk too at work or court who is within two years or so from retirement said they voted for the money because they are leaving, don't care about seniority and furlough by watch and won't be effected by any loss of duty availability in the future. The really younger guys I talked too who did vote didn't vote to approve the contract because they know they will get screwed with duty availability and giving things up. Don't fool yourself.. The majority of all voting was done by the older guys who are a larger part of this department and all the retirees who voted.
