NYPD Continue Battle

  • New York City police union leaders said they rejected Mayor Bill de Blasio's leadership after emerging from a meeting with the city's police commissioner on Wednesday, suggesting the mayor's effort to mend his unusually deep rift with police was failing.

The meeting with Commissioner William Bratton came only hours after de Blasio conceded he was still unable to say whether officers in the nation's largest police force had embarked on a widespread work slowdown in the two weeks since two policemen were ambushed and killed.

The number of arrests and court summonses has plummeted across the city since the attack, with some police precincts recording a statistically improbable zero tickets for misdemeanors, suggesting many officers are ignoring all but the most urgent crimes.
  • The two police officers shot by a Bronx robber they were trying to arrest would have rather not gotten visited by Mayor de Blasio, family and fellow cops told The Post on Tuesday.

The father of the more seriously wounded of the pair, Officer Andrew Dossi, 30, said his son “wasn’t too happy about the mayor’s visit.”
Of course not. Cops don't want to be used as whipping boys for his political posturing and they certainly don't want to be used as props in an effort to repair the mayor's reputation as an asshole afterwards - the same people he told his son to beware of.

Stay the course NYPD.

I'm loving the brass balls displayed by the NYPD. They are truly showing America what it means to be Americans standing up to tyrants. Bravo, my friends. Bravo. Let's hope this catches on nation wide.

I have joined my NYPD brothers and sisters in solidarity. I have slowed down here as well. Let my yuppie beat have a taste of New York. See how they like it when they can't find parking in their "Zone", especially now with the snow routes chasing people away. But hey I won't write them either.

This whole bring in an outside "professional" to run the department runs against the grain of working your way up through the ranks. With all the emphasis on "transparency" you'd think they could devise a way in which promotional examination scores are posted and the "merit" promotions would be a second or third tier which would include who recommended them with an explanation of what merited the promotion besides an aldermanic "recommendation".
Never mind, I'm just glad Bratton never came here, he seems to be a real whore fronting for DiBlasio.

Isn't it about time for Odumbo to go to NYC to show solidarity with his socialist buddy, Wilhelm/DeBlasio? I mean, don't these socialists stick together like that?

We couldn't even begin to approach the level of solidarity among our membership here as they obviously do in NYC. When FOP called for officers to stay away from Special Employment, many looked ay it as, "Oh boy, that means I get more!"

Arrest slowdown? Suckholes will be too afraid of losing their precious spot on early roll call and a beat car with only 75,000 miles on it and maybe the Lt will stop talking to me.

No way can the current display of togetherness by NYPD ever happen here. Coppers in Chicago don't even vote! If there is a ticket slowdown, many will take it as their time to shine and they will write more.

You can only look at NYPD and sigh, now there is a real police department and there is a real union, not the fractured pile of crap we have here. Not that we have a better mayor, we do not. We just have worse police.

That stern lecture from Bratton after the first funeral -- "Don't turn your backs on the Mayor again!" -- said it all, huh?

...and best of all was that it merely precipitated a second "About FACE!"

Actually it was not Jane but Bratton was a potential candidate when Daley was mayor. I was at a seminar at DePaul when Bratton spoke. He said he would not come to Chicago under any circumstances because of the political control of the department by Daley. Weiss was ultimately selected. McCarthy was also a finalist at the time.

Your comment suggests that you do not have a clue about the relationship of a department head and the mayor. If Bratton did not support the mayor he would be out of a jog. Bratton loves the NYPD and wants to stay around for a bit. Besides that, every superintendent takes their marching orders from the mayor. If you do not like it now, you better hope some of these candidates running against Rahm are not elected. One promised to have every officer walking a beat in all kinds of weather.

NYPD on alert after lug nuts loosened on department vehicles: ‘Things have gotten so bad’

January 8, 2015

"New York City police have reportedly been instructed to inspect their personal and department vehicles before each use after multiple cars belonging to officers had the lug nuts loosened or removed in a possible sabotage.

"Police investigated the issue Tuesday after an officer reported that the windshield wipers on his personal vehicle had been tampered with and all four tires had the lug nuts loosened, the New York Post reported.

"A team of officers were sent to check other police vehicles in the area near Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Headquarters, finding that the lug nuts had also been loosened on the personal vehicle of an officer who parked in a “Police Only” zone, The Post reported.

"Police also found that lug nuts had been loosened on two unmarked NYPD vehicles in a lot used by police supervisors, The Post reported.

“Things have gotten so bad between the police and the community,” a law enforcement source told the Post. “I’ve never seen it this bad.”

“They’re doing this obviously in an attempt to hurt police officers,” he said. “By loosening the lug nuts, the tires could fall off the car, and the cops could crash their car. … Is that what these people want? Somebody could die.”

"Officials sent out a citywide memo warning officers in all precincts to stay on the alert and inspect personal and department vehicles before each use, the Post said.

“Any person found in possession of any tools that would facilitate the removal of lug nuts should be detained for questioning,” the memo reportedly read."

Don't know if any NYPD cops ever see this but I hope they do. Its too bad a first rate law enforcement agency has to serve under a third rate major. There are people that appreciate what the police do in this country.
To all those others, go back to your own country.
