Neutrality
- Add Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to those who say they're publicly withholding endorsement in Chicago's mayoral race.
In advance of a Casimir Pulaski Day event, Preckwinkle told reporters she was "staying out of it."
Her silence is notable, given that she has what can be described as a tepid relationship with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The incumbent's challenger in the April 7 runoff is Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia.
Gov. Bruce Rauner last week declined to publicly support either candidate. He and Emanuel are friends and worked together during Emanuel's time as an investment banker.
Again, Rahm is an asshole. And people are loath to be associated with an asshole...even if they belong to the same Machine or wine tasting club. And if Rahm can't win an election on his own ("own" being endorsed by unions, supported by $30 million from Hollywood, and a presidential endorsement), then he doesn't get to hang with Bruce and Toni.

A vote cast for anyone but Garcia is a vote for Rahm. Why waste a vote for a third candidate who has no chance of winning? Incumbants love logic like yours.
She is the Queen of cook county! Runs unapposed in elections. She can do whatever she wants. Who's going to stop her? Dart? He ran unapposed! Lisa Madigan? Ditto!

She detests Rahm. You can see contempt in her face every time a reporter asks her a question remotely related to Rahm.
If he took her Chief of Staff, it was 'because he can' and to give her a slap in the face.
It doesn't matter which one gets in. They are both different arms of the Democratic machine. Both will continue to destroy the city with handouts. Rahms handouts are to connected people with TIFS and such. Garcia's handouts will be with entitlement programs.
Both will blame the police and demand that the police in 014/3rd watch wear body cameras.
So, no change.

All those cries about money being spent on other things have no concept of municipal accounting. There are laws,grants,loans,donations,TIFs that can only be spent in certain areas not all thrown in a big piggy bank to pay for pensions.
