Rahm Lies

Elected on a platform of lies, along with a "wedding dress residency," is anyone actually surprised?
  • In the wake of revelations about abuses in the city of Chicago’s fire and police disability programs, Mayor Rahm Emanuel promised reforms.

But two and a half years later, little has come of those promises, a Chicago Sun-Times examination has found.

Some injured cops, firefighters and paramedics have returned to duty or retired since Emanuel vowed to crack down on abuses in the wake of a Sun-Times investigation that found some of them were collecting tax-free disability checks even as they had gotten other jobs.
Everyone has a story about this, and it's abuses that may cost us down the road. One has to wonder if Rahm continues to permit the abuses in order to have a club to beat the membership with somewhere in the future. If we aren't policing our own house, you can bet Rahm will attempt to.

I have no problem with disability getting extra scrutiny. As SCC says just about everyone of us knows of a scammer who probably shouldn't be on disability. The coppers who are on disability get paid out of our pension funds..... Rahm refuses to pay into that pension fund so we don't need any scamming leeches drawing from the drastically underfunded pension.
If you're legit, God bless you, and you should have no problem with the increased scrutiny. If, however, you're a scamming leech then you deserve what you get.

Overtime increases your pension in many many police departments but not in CPD.

But worse, Rahm and his lawyers chose to use a technicality to reach into lpolice officers wallets and deny them their overtime retro.

Anyone but Rahm.

Here's my 2 cents. I was injured on the job over a decade ago. Very quick painless process. Ambo to E.R., Dr follow up appt in less than a week and at p.t. less than a week after that. Whole injury with recovery like 2 months! Fast forward to the present, everything's F*n outsourced (responses are not in in a timely fashion and not helpful) And, the chity Dr as he looked at the damage on the Xray and poked at me while I wailed in pain, said "you're good"

yeah, I'm good alright and instead of fixing what got broke the city will pay more to correct the compounding issues that will arise because idiot boy thinks "the city will keep me because I have a quick turn around" F*n retard! The city should audit the Dr's who have numerous patients who are still injured and are seen for second opinions and additional follow up care.

ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD ATTORNEY

P.S. thank you to my nurse and the sgts (no thanks to one f/1 working reception. Shamefully ignorant and you do not need to read through my papers to be copied. Also, do not forget I'm sure you are held to HIPPA laws as well as departmental laws prohibiting you from discussing any officer's and their health issues. Be forewarned!)

You can head up FOP but your still on disability? Hmm well dean lead by example, the others can also work if they work another job? Light duty like your doing dean? You say your taking $100,000 in the article and the rest from the pension (woefully underfunded your so quiet about it), why would you still take from the pension fund at all? Double dip style?

Now this may be the reason your not out in front of the media defending us, and talking about all the cities hidden money that needs to go to the pension! Maybe just maybe you should resign Dean!

Lastly where are the income tax forms from FOP, to show what you do with the millions we pay in? I think they are called 990's but not sure!

Contrary to the story of public employees bleeding taxpayers dry, the Good Jobs First report proves that the slush fund is the root of the city’s true fiscal problem. As the municipal budget figures show, over the last 14 years Chicago refused to make its necessary pension contributions. Yet, at the same time, the city’s TIF-based “shadow budget” skyrocketed.

Talk about hypocrisy. Ahmer Ahmad who sat on the pension board pleaded guilty to bribery and conspiracy to commit bribery, money laundering and wire fraud. Fled the country on a false passport and is now in jail in Pakistan for entering on a forged visa. City spent close to a million on handpicked investigators who issued a report that he did nothing wrong here and Rham didn’t know about Ohio. Stephanie Neely who also sat on the Police Pension Board was similarly tasked with helping keep the City on firm financial footing. However, before resigning Neely made sure her own financial footing was secure – courtesy of taxpayers. Just days before stepping down to return to the private sector, Neely opted into a little-known government retirement plan that caters to politicians. Neely was unapologetic about the move, which is totally legal but illustrates not only the often-generous retirement benefits afforded to Illinois' political class, but how, at least in part, taxpayer-backed pension funds have fallen into such crushing debt. "I wanted to make sure I had the option to do whatever is in my best interest since I didn't contribute to Social Security," Neely said, "I didn't create the law" allowing this, she said. BGA Report.

This article is a little misleading. There have been a ton of POs that were on disability that have been brought back for a status of their injury and then put in a limited duty capacity if their limitations will allow.

The tremendous joke here is they forced the callback people on non iod medical to go to full duty or disability. Some were really sick or injured. They had to go. Yet they forced some off the disability. They too are extremely sick or injured. We call the hospital often for some while at work. Yes the fakers have hurt a system that helped us. I remember some girl who was dating Area Chief Guerrero and she hurt her shoulder and she got disability. Yet this guy wearing a drug bag attached to a tube in his body has to report to work.

There was a detailed and comprehensive study of medical roll usage and disability claims done at least twice that I know of. One was done in the mid 80's and another in the late 90's. The results were never released because they would have embarrassed certain demographics and would have been considered racist and sexist.

Heh!
Heh-Heh!

ANYTHING...
But a prolonged and prejudicial, speculum-aided
look-see with hot, bright lights, up the asses of the
hiring, promotional, medical and disability procedures of CPD

Insert the nozzle and give a hard stomp on the rather large-ish red rubber bag to jar loose the clouted, privileged, those of whatever protected politically correct demographic of the moment and those who have bypassed every safeguard and firewall to game these systems and those who aided and abetted the gaming.

That's why these processes should be pure, pristine, beyond the fuckery/taint of clout, politics, privilege, birthright etc.

But then, the political powers would have no "control" over CPD. They would sooner destroy it than see their corrosive influence wane.

I for one would like anybody tapping the disability/pension fund falsely prosecuted. However it's the syatem that was set up by th city.

It could easily be fixed to cut down on fraud. A couple of answers would be, give the duty disabled other jobs, eg. call back, OEMC, or other inside jobs.
Also, require residency until you are moved from disability to pension, which happens at 63 yoa.

Both police and fire that abuse the disability are allowed to move out of the city, hold other jobs, run their own companies and receive tax free income from disability. So why are we working? The same ones hit the MEDICAL when they want some time off and have no time on the books. Why can't they work the inside spots in the districts and at 35th street, that would free up hundreds of officers for the street. The officers we complain about making the same as the officers in squad cars for doing Secretary work! For all our most of their career.
I'm sure we all know someone claiming disability that can do a job in the department. And when they are forced inside, they are suddenly cured.

It means the bozo lawyer that everyone gave their money to filed the lawsuit in the wrong venue. It is an issue of state law/constitution and not of federal law and seeing the issue hasn't played out in the state court system yet, there is no federal jurisdiction on the matter. Besides the fact that the initial complaint does not specify what applicable federal statute regarding contracts was violated. Wasted your money people.
