Never the Full Story
We've refrained from commenting on the recent acquittal in the Servin case for one simple reason - everything published by the media is probably wrong in some way, shape or form. The media has become the mob, spouting untruths, lies and instigating violence at a supposedly "unjust" verdict. Then weeks later, something comes up that destroys the narrative, but you'll seldom, if ever, see a correction or retraction.
Example A: Ferguson. Everything the "man on the street" knows is demonstrably false by the evidence and facts. We could even go further back involving any sort of made up racial animus (Zimmerman) or sexism (Rolling Stone at UVa) or ignorance of policy (Cleveland, NYPD, etc). The anti-police, anti-gun, anti-whatever attitude that claims the message is more important than the facts, regardless of who gets destroyed on the altar of political correctness for the leftist cause.
You can see it even a few weeks ago - the Scott shooting in South Carolina. Cut and dried - white cop shoots unarmed black man, right? The left finally has a case that they can run around and shout, "This one is true, so everything else we've alleged over the past must be true, too!" So cut and dry that the media isn't even covering it any more. Is that because of this?

That's a screen capture seconds before the copper shot, and that's a green shirted individual on top of the cop. That's kind of a big deal and puts the entire incident in a different light.
Or this?
See the Taser wire? Wrapped around the cop's leg? Or this one?
Taser wire running to the cops chest? Kind of means the reports of the cop being disarmed and shot with his own Taser might have some merit. And someone who can take your Taser can take your gun. It also means he's an elevated threat if he's (A) been on top of you and (B) has one of your weapons. Additionally, the guy who shot the video related this:
Back to the Servin case. Today, experienced defense attorneys, people who aren't going to buying tickets to the Policeman's Ball any time soon, relate that the judge got it correct:
- Feidin Santana, the witness to the event who recorded it on his cellphone, has come forth claiming the Scott and Slager were in a “struggle on the ground” prior to the shooting
Back to the Servin case. Today, experienced defense attorneys, people who aren't going to buying tickets to the Policeman's Ball any time soon, relate that the judge got it correct:
- Several longtime criminal-defense attorneys interviewed by the Tribune backed the decision by Porter as the right call, saying the veteran judge has a reputation at the Leighton Criminal Court Building for a sharp legal mind and a willingness to make unpopular rulings.
Attorney Richard Kling, a professor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, said he has never had a client who fired a gun into a crowd and killed someone face involuntary manslaughter charges.
"It's a gutsy ruling," said attorney Steve Greenberg, who represented former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson at his high-profile murder trial. "It's either self-defense or you've committed a murder. It's definitely not a reckless act."
Greenberg said the decision to charge Servin with involuntary manslaughter may have been a political one, with prosecutors unwilling to charge a police detective with murder, which carries a minimum 45-year sentence on conviction.

I never saw the video of the officer struggling on the ground. I should have known there was more to the story.
So the savage can beat on us, get on top of us, tussle with us, hit us with his fists and even use our own taser against us and we are supposed to just take it. That officer in south carolina did what he had to do. If this shit continues then every police man in this country will only answer his jobs and not be proactive. We have mortgages to pay and children to feed.
If you can see what you say you can see in those pics, you have a hell of lot better monitor than I do or REALLY good eyes.
(and I have pretty good resolution on this 'puter)
That's kind of a big deal and puts the entire incident in a different light.
How so?
I don't disagree "that's a big deal" and he's a felon at that point. But he's unarmed and no longer a threat to the officer. His fat ass isn't going anywhere quick. The officer didn't even have to shuffle his feet to shoot him. Run him down and kick his ass? Didn't even enter the equation.
What did the officer in question bring over to the downed suspect and drop next to him?
Cops have a shit job, I get it.
But IMO this shoot isn't one you want to hang your hat on. It doesn't pass the smell test.
"with prosecutors unwilling to charge a police detective with murder, which carries a minimum 45-year sentence on conviction."
Are they saying it's a mandatory 45 year sentence only if the police are convicted? Must be because everyone else is out in 10.
In society's view, coaxed by the media, once the offender runs away and police pursue them, the police are the aggressor and any action is criminal. They are no longer a threat, can't you just pick them up later? maybe they wont run then. Messed up view, but the public has bought into it.
Political decisions weigh more than legal decisions in this county.
The media wants to stur the pot. They want riots. They want the looting and burning. It sells stories.
Good work
I've had no faith in the media for years now, lies by omission.
Reminds me of the missing 911 transmissions in the Trayvon Martin case.
"The media has become the mob, spouting untruths, lies and instigating violence . . ."
I couldn't agree more.
THE MEDIA HAS BECOME THE MOB
The opressions and murders of multi-cultural CHRISTIANS are ignored. Those aiding and abetting are a certain degree of seperation domestically as well. Do not forget the thousands of rapes in muslim countries of women. Where are the feminists? Feminists cry about men having 1% more jobs than women lol.
This whole city is a reasonable suspicion. If one of these mass murders or multiple offender armed robberies occured 1000 feet of a school in civilized town, they would lock down the whole town. Plus, like SCC is saying if a guy has a IR # of murders and UUWs what makes him unarmed when there is no teasonable suspicion.
LIBS
I rest my case.
Ran Paul for President
They don't want the facts getting in the way of their agenda.
Wtf was wrong with this officer? He was off duty. There was no crime being commited which he needed to do anything. They were noisy? So what? And if there was a crime he could have called it in. Then his detective buddies helped him out? Making us all look bad. Another idiot with a badge.
Prepare. This is not over.
They will put a cop in jail for an on-duty incident. They will lie. They will manufacture evidence. They will do whatever they must to get it done.
Don't be that guy.
Nothing new, the struggle was reported Apr 8th in USA Today. The guy that took the video said there was a struggle. And i sure that was known before the cop was charged.
Cops are targets now
I prayed for Darren Wilson and Dante Servin and I'm praying for the policeman in South Carolina. I prayed hard for a family member who overcame a life threatening illness. That said, maybe the Left underestimates the power of prayer. Maybe God understands the work of policemen. Pray and vote.
Feidin Santana, the witness to the event who recorded it on his cellphone, has come forth claiming the Scott and Slager were in a “struggle on the ground” prior to the shooting
That is a fact. On a newscast the first couple of days he on camera stated that. Also on one program when they showed the video, at the beginning Slager was on the ground wrestling with the guy. After the first few days, that part of the video was missing, a small part at the beginning, but an important part. Santana also stated he had thoughts about erasing the video, but didn't. Could he have erased that part?
"Hands up don't shoot" I remember that line of bullshit.....even after Holder said it never happened..... so now what.?? Lets just charge every copper out there and let them show otherwise??.....A double standard one wild say.
Are you guys seriously trying to compare this case to Michael Brown?!! The officer in that case was justified in what he did. In this case the officer did not act within the use of force model. And don't give me this BS about him being tazed ! He wasn't!! His official report he submitted stated that the taser did not subdue the subject and that they wrestled over the taser. If he had been tazed that would have been included in his official report and would have been reported but it wasn't . Period end of subject. He lied to cover up his bad decision. People get over it, some of our brothers in blue do this type of crap. Accept it and move on.

Um... hey Junior! Get off the computer in your Mom's basement. You're posting on a totally different topic.
Wow, I hate to admit it but I thought this guy was guilty. Always wondered if there was more video. This officer needs a fund raiser for his lawyer.

There is no such thing as god, and if there was, he wouldn't be rooting for one side or the other. We as police officers are responsible for our actions, not a fairy tale creator. We need to understand the current role of the media and what they're trying to do to the police in this country. Remember your training, and use the force necessary to effect the arrest, but be aware that the media will look to take advantage if we screw up.
Michael Slager fucked up big time. Yes, the asshole he shot was no angel, and the media failed to report the entire story, but you can't shoot someone in the back as they're running away from you unarmed. I feel for the officer, but prayers are not going to prevent him from going to prison. His newborn child will probably be in high school by the time he's released.
Trust your training and expect to always be on camera.
I hate to be a Monday morning quarterback for one of my brothers but come on. As a policeman or any citizen you can live where you want Servin picked one hell of a shit neighborhood to live in. Off duty driving around because of loud noise in the area. Confronting shit heads about noise and as he was driving away at night he sees what he believes to be a gun pointed at him by one of the shit heads he then draws his gun and from in the car and over his shoulder from the rear fires shots. Wow Servin is one lucky lucky man to not be in jail. One tip detective MOVE.
i think there was a struggle, but im on the fence about putting 8 in his back. i think the threat level has deminished. but dont have all the info was the taser still in his hands.
This new evidence still does not absolve the officer. Whatever was done it did not warrant a killing. The suspect, was unarmed, his back was turned and he was running away. His identity was known, he could have been picked up at a later time.
Just like the initial Abbate video, showed the polack barmaid pushing the fat drunken pig, once the story went viral-worldwide, you never saw that.

Maybe God understands the work of policemen? If he can't understand something and someone he created, doesn't sound like one worthy of being called God. It's not him who doesn't understand us, we don't understand him.
Isaiah wrote:
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
I wouldn't tell you not to pray for anyone. I pray for officers and offenders alike. Why? The Bible teaches us to pray for our enemies and those who misuse us. Jesus prayed for the people that were causing his in progress death. You either believe it or you don't. Unfortunately brother Servin was not acting under the color of any responsibility or duty during that incident. Wilson, Servin and this SC guy are all three different cases and Wilson is the outlier. As many guys also noted, yes the original reports stated there was a struggle prior to him running. I have yet to see any justification for the use of deadly force. If it was while they were rolling on the ground or while the dude was aiming a taser at him ABSOLUTELY...but after it was said and done and then dropping an object next to the body. I don't see it. So yes, pray for those officers but don't think you are clear of any prayer for the families of the people that were killed. I prayed for Mike Brown's family and it had nothing to do with my praying Darren Wilson was not prosecuted and me believing the shoot was not proven unjustified. We're not supposed to just pray for who we want and what we want, trust me I cringe when I pray for some of my bosses and my department.
"So the savage can beat on us, get on top of us, tussle with us, hit us with his fists and even use our own taser against us and we are supposed to just take it."
It should be pointed out the government expects the police to take it for the same reason they expect the average citizen to take it - the occasional white victim thrown into the black volcano placates and appeases that volcano.
Gif shows Taser Wires (2) are wrapped around Officer Michael Slagger's arms/wrists, that he is tossing taser behind him as he reaches for service weapon, and Walter Scott (suspect) is dragging Taser Cartridge behind him as he runs away. Pretty much seems to show without question suspect was the one Tasered as he drags cartridge (attached to wires) as he runs away, and Taser is tossed behind Officer with his left hand as he reaches for Service Weapon with right hand and fires. Here it is: https://www.metabunk.org/sk/Video-Shows-Fatal-Police-Shooting-clip-stab.gif
Let's be real... at least in my 31 years of experience. The guy struggling was not trying to harm me or you, he was trying to get away! His struggle was to go free, my struggle was to hold on to him... it's a contest at that point and just because he breaks free, is not heeding my will for his arrest, I and you do not have the right to stand up, take a 'weaver' stance and blast him in the back!!! 'Motorola' would have kept this officer out of the media and more importantly out of a criminal charge! He knew he was going to loose the foot race... so he whips out the gun to even the foot race... STUPID, and that determined a murder charge!!!
Listen folks, I am now retired and put many years on this job, things have changed period, this is not the time to screw up, whether you mean to or not, the ideal thing to do is call 911 when you are off duty, but we all know this is under ideal conditions and sometimes while off duty we do and will get involved, I know that many times I thought about just calling it in but when you can't we react, just like our training tells us to do, I was a Sergeant and had a great team of men working with me and I always had their backs, but when the news and Bosses get involved sometimes things change. My son is a Suburban copper and I try to tell him that the same thing happens there just like the city so watch your backs, everyone is taking video of the police, they think it is a joke or game show. I'm really glad that I'm not in Det. Servins shoes, the media is going to push for federal charges, along with the REVS.
I'm amazed at the mindset of these loud mouth reverends and puppets touting the video proves systematic assassinations of blacks by whites. Where are these same ass breathers when every single F en day on the TV show COPS, hundreds and I mean hundreds of videos show blacks killing and wounding their own brothers. Where is the outrage, where are the marches and where the F is the masses touting "Black Lives Matter?" Bunch of freaking hypocrites!!
To the poster with the good eyes...didnt the officer already attempt a lower level on the use of force continuum via physical means and for his efforts took a beating and got tased by his own non lethal weapon?
When the time of 1984 comes and we are run by the jackbooted police state, I too will be a "criminal". Until then, those who assault cops with guns, knives, automobiles, Tasers, 2x4s, shovels, sharp objects or even bare fists and they catch a few rounds for their violent stupidity, they get no quarter here.

Pretty much everything you are saying is false. If you are really a cop do the rest of us a favor and pack it in.

The initial showings of that video also showed her jumping around, raising her arms in the 'victorious' hand-clasp, like a prizefighter. She was laughing and smiling.
After two news cycles, the last ten seconds was never seen again when that vid was shown over and over and over again.
I'm beating the Orwell drum again. Readers who liked 1984 or who are familiar with Soviet or N. Korean media can relate. Winston, the unhappy main character in 1984 whose job is to "correct errors" before they reach the newspaper, states that..."[his work] is no longer even a forgery, however. It is merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another." That's what main stream media's reporting on the police has become.
This new evidence still does not absolve the officer. Whatever was done it did not warrant a killing. The suspect, was unarmed, his back was turned and he was running away. His identity was known, he could have been picked up at a later time.

Running away or running for cover to mount another attack on the officer that was doing his job? In the heat of a life or death struggle that had just occurred, that's a tough call.
As for me I am glad the police officer is alive. I don't care what happens to a bad man.
Give these animals what they want and adore so much. Legalized narcotics and gang enforcement on every corner. They readily befriend, trust, and defend these criminals more than police. Since they excuse black gang members and criminals when they shoot or kill other black gang members or victims, there will be no one to blame or protest. The lawyers will starve and die off or find new careers, then the world will be a much happier place.
Dearest Brothers and Sisters, accept my gratitude for your unwavering support and prayers. The past 3 years have been every cop’s worst nightmare. Thank you to the POs that continually checked on our well being.
During times of darkness the Lord would send an Angel in His own way. A kind word, a handshake, a hug or just a friendly nod refortified me and my family for the battle ahead. He and you kept my spirit from breaking. It was amazing to see each and every one of my partners that are still with us present in court. They will always hold a special place in my heart. I thank our brothers/sisters who have passed who championed for me with The Man upstairs. I am both humbled and honored by the huge show of support in the court room despite the adversity, controversy, and coverage of the case.
I thank the Angel that came to light from obscurity to attest to what was true. This citizen reaffirmed that the vast majority of the people we serve are good. Other Officers specifically told me that this selfless and courageous act in the midst of such exposure renewed their faith in humanity after they’ve had adverse experiences in their careers.
My thanks go out to all the officers on the scene that terrible night and to the professionalism and humanity displayed by everyone involved including the initial investigators, scene officers, Detectives, Commanders and the Bosses all the way up to the top. I always felt the support of the Department had been facilitated by the results of the professional investigation.
I am grateful to the CPD Family, the Clergy, Chaplains, Doctors, “The Group”, EAP, and The Police Survivors.
Eternal gratitude goes to the Team that rolled up their sleeves and for all their individual talents. Gracias to “the bare knuckle brawler”, the tenacious lady, and “the kid”. The legal eagles displayed passion, extreme work ethic and perseverance for truth and justice.
Thank you to the strong leaders, active and retired, who thought independently. You circled the wagons and guided me through the fog. You know who you are. The Department and the Lodge were by my side.
Thank you to my neighbors for never doubting the content of my character. You supported and shielded my family from any negativity.
My deepest respect goes to those who worked beside me during the last 3 years. God perfectly placed each of you in my path. There were several very special friends who never let up and who maintained the drive throughout.
This is a time for healing and reflection. There are no winners.
I pray the Lord open the hearts and minds of those you serve. Help them comprehend your selflessness in the face of peril, evil, and chaos. We are of the community and for the community.
I implore you to seek help if ever the burden shouldered becomes too heavy to bear.
Brothers, I pray for your safety while serving and that you return to your loved ones after every tour.
Don’t ever second guess your instinct to survive.
God Bless you while you hold the thin blue line.
Your humble brother
Why did the city out 4.5 million to the Boyd family for an off-duty incident?
Same reason Servin walked, it's called CLOUT!
Rekia Boyd was gunned down on Chicago’s West Side by Chicago detective Dante Servin, the Chicago City Council Wednesday approved a $4.5 million settlement with the family.
Servin fired five shots “blindly” over his shoulder, shooting Cross in his thumb and striking Boyd in the head. She died the next day at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Meanwhile,You continue to hold water for this guy?
I prayed for Mike Brown's family and it had nothing to do with my praying Darren Wilson was not prosecuted and me bel...
Screw you, goof.
No matter what you think about this shooting and the officers actions, these facts remain true...
A criminal who refused to to comply with a lawful order, fled from law enforcement, resisted arrest and then became an assailant against the officer ultimately died due to his actions.
I am not saying that the officer was justified in his actions but what I am saying is that this is yet again another example of a CRIMINAL resisting arrest and attacking police in order to avoid apprehension.
The common theme in all these incidents... IF YOU ARE A PIECE OF SHIT CRIMINAL AND FIGHT WITH THE POLICE IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID ARREST, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE IF NOT LIKELY THAT YOUR ACTIONS WILL RESULT IN YOUR DEATH!!!!
Maybe there should be a little more focus on PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY of those individuals that feel it is acceptable to fight with law enforcement.
The copper in South Carolina that killed Mr. Scott lost all credibility when he was shown throwing his taser down by Scott's body. I know coppers that were terminated just because they were on scene when a jagoff pulled a stunt like that. Stop giving cover to jagoffs like that.
IMO, this was a bad shoot and its not wise to defend it.
DEFEND ALL LE SHOOTS, ALWAYS is just as troublesome and discrediting as ALL COPS ARE MURDERERS!!
I am OK with society drawing the line at not shooting a fleeing individual, irrespective of whatever they did to get your adrenaline up, with a few very narrow exclusions that would not apply to this circumstance.
Just my opinion.
As posted earlier, this link pretty much clearly shows Officer Michael Slagger tasered the suspect (Walter Scott), because it shows the wires wrapped around the officer's arms, and the officer tossing the taser behind his back as he reaches for his service weapon. The suspect can be seen dragging the cartridge by the wires attached to him.
https://www.metabunk.org/sk/Video-Shows-Fatal-Police-Shooting-clip-stab.gif BUT, what this also means is that the officer tried to taser the suspect BEFORE using deadly force, apparently because the suspect was violently resisting arrest. The suspect is then fleeing, with a nearby responding officer, who is apparently unware of the situation. So, the officer is shooting NOT in self defense, but in defense of other officers responding to the scene likely to encounter a suspect who has demonstrated he will use violence to defeat arrest, and likely to try to disarm the unsuspecting responders.

I believe there is my GOD. I sometimes pray to him/her
I believe my dead Aunts,Uncles, family has protected me.
Maybe you have never been in a life or death time, maybe you have been. Very rarely do you have time to think.
Who are you to call out someones faith?
It was because of my training, my time on the job AND my good Lord I have survived.
I have been in two gun battles. God damn right I was ready, but I was always awarded the opportunity to fight back.
Do you think Severin, Ceriale, Kaner, were not ready to fight?
Do you think they died because of training?
Send Slager some cash $$$ put money in his commissary account. I send him something every week he has the option to cash it out give to his wife.

To the unpublished Carole Corns:
No idea why you're posting in a thread almost a year old, but your ignorance is astounding none the less. Officer Severin is not Detective Servin.
Sergeant Severin was assassinated 30 years ago along with Officer Rizzato in Cabrini Green by sniper fire. So your entire post is typically liberal - loud, uninformed and stupid. We've deleted it, not to save you the embarrassment of your ignorance (though from the lib-tards we know, you are incapable of such feeling), but rather to save everyone else the pain of having to read it.
Asshat.
Again....to the unpublished Carole Corns:
You were the one originally confusing Servin with Severin, not to mention demoting the deceased to Officer instead of Sergeant.
We stand by calling you out as ignorant and uninformed. If you were interested at all in "intellectual honesty," you'd admit your error and MoveOn. As to the "free speech" aspect of it, we are not the government - we can censor whatever the hell we want. You are welcome to start a blog of your own and spout ignorant shit all day long - no doubt you already do it elsewhere - and the government pretty much can't stop you. But you'll find it a hard slog gathering any sort of following if your points can be destroyed as easily as we did nearly two months ago.
You remain, as always, an Asshat.
