- A week ago, rapper Shaquon Thomas posted a video making fun of a rival gang while pretending to hold a gun in his hands.
"You don't even know how to shoot," Thomas rapped in the video, titled "Shooters."
Early Friday, the 20-year-old Thomas was gunned down about a block from where he recorded that video on the streets of Uptown. It's an area where three street gangs -- [...we aren't listing the names of the gangs - SCC] -- have been locked in a long-running feud. Thomas was a [great disappointment], according to police.
Around 1:35 a.m. Friday, he was with a friend in the 4800 block of North Kenmore Avenue when a gunman walked up and started shooting, authorities said. Thomas was hit twice in the back and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:01 a.m.
It's too bad they didn't kill him sooner, but it wasn't for lack of trying:
- It was at least the third time someone had tried to kill Thomas in the last year and a half, according to police. The other two times, innocent bystanders died.
That's just great - two other statistics because this waste of protoplasm couldn't do the right thing and just take his bullets. Jesse? Al? Louis? WVON? You want to comment on this shit?

2:15pm....I thought u were full of shit and getting the facts wrong. I looked up the bill myself and youre right, no misinformation. The amendment requiring law enforcement to issue a receipt to anyone we perform a street stop and then frisk on is ABSOLUTELY written into the new Bill. Its hidden 3/4s of the way into 175 pages wedged in between other crap so you cant find it , but its there. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

OT, but maybe not. 25 year old white kid from Palos shot to death during a cell phone robbery in Lakeview. Murdered by Kristopher Pitts. A thug needs a phone to sell so he kills a taxpaying, loved by his family and friends, hard working, educated man.

His name is Kevin O' Malley. You talked more about the guy that killed him, and named him, than the innocent victim. Years ago, my friend Chris Simpson was an innocent shooting victim. As was, Filmon Tesfai, the brother of my co-worker. Both of them were killed in mistaken identity gang shootings. It doesn't make the family feel any better what race the killer was and what neighborhood it happened it. They are some ones loved ones and they will never touch or talk to them again. The first time I recovered a gun, all I could think about was my friend and what may have happened that night if the Latin Kings got stopped with that gun in the car...but it's too late. I don't care that Kevin is white or that he's from Palos or that his killer was black...I care that Kevin is dead and he did nothing to deserve his death and his family will forever suffer and mourn his death. That's all that matters to me and that's all that matters to me about Chris and Filmon. May their murderers reap what they have sowed.

It's a shame that "Lil' Pappy" got killed. He could have changed black thug-life in Chicago forever. Just follow this logic - He posts a rap song on youtube telling the thugs that they cannot even shoot straight and 24 hours later, they pop him twice in the chest from a speeding vehicle. That's pretty straight shooting.
Now if he had posted a rap song telling the thugs that they cannot read... imagine the possibilities...

I meant no disrespect to Mr. O'Malley. I am a retired P.O. and I have seen as much senseless carnage as anyone. I certainly don't apreciate the tone of your response in which you choose to speak down to me as if you are some high arbiter of what can and cannot be said. I think the who, what, when, where and why of this and other shootings is important, and no it will not bring peace to his family. Nothing will. But I feel that the facts of a shooting, no matter where it happens or whom it happens to should be noted if for no other reason than to serve as a cautionary tale.
When I wrote my original post, I was seething with anger that a young man was killed over something as trivial as a cellphone, or as the news just reported, a phone and some cash. Perhaps I should have included Mr. O'Malleys name in my post, but it was not left out with malice. I'm also very sorry to hear of the deaths of your friends. Senseless beyond words.
If you choose not to care about the race of the offenders, so be it. That's your right. But the fact is, at least in Chicago most murders are committed by people of color. People of color also make up the majority of victims. The leaders of those communities only speak up on the occasion that a victim or offender fits their agenda.
You want a piece of news about the thug that killed Kevin O'Malley? He was on bond facing a felony trial for assaulting a police officer. So if he's inside, Kevin O'Malley is alive. That's important for people to know. Here's another fact. Pitts decided he needed some cash. So he thinks, where can I get some. He thinks, I'm gonna go where there are people with cash in their pockets. I'm going where the white people are. He did'nt choose to stick up a guy in his neighborhood, or at Cicero and Thomas or 79th and Loomis. He knows that the bars empty out at 0200. That there will be potential victims there.
Victims like Kevin O'Malley, God rest his soul.
The only victims are the two poor souls who got killed by bullets meant for him.
