Mope-Rah at it Again
She is so close to actually breaking through on something. You can see it, but she just can't make the last connection:
- There is much praise for good Samaritans.
These strangers often put their own lives at risk trying to save others from peril.
Sometimes, the news media or the police recognize these heroic efforts, but quite often good Samaritans disappear without anyone ever knowing their names.
In 2013, two unidentified good Samaritans foiled a rape attempt near a CTA Orange Line station by coming to the aid of an 18-year-old woman who was thrown to the ground in the attack.
Last week, we saw a very different response to a situation in which it was clear someone was in desperate need of help. A young woman riding a CTA Red Line train alone in the early hours of the morning was trying to fight off a rapist when the train pulled into the North/Clybourn stop, and a man got on.
According to the woman, he attacked her, pulling down her pants and underwear. She was screaming for help when the stranger stumbled onto the scene.
But instead of trying to make the attacker stop, or pushing the emergency call button, or even dialing 911, the man turned around and left the train.
Mope-rah heaps scorn on the witness. Rightfully? Who knows. Most people aren't that good in a one-on-one encounter. We certainly aren't as good as we used to be so many years ago...time robs us of vision, reflexes, recovery time, etc. It happens to all of us. Mope-rah doesn't describe the age or condition of the "failed" hero.
Would we have intervened? Most certainly. But we would have had something that the good Samaritan probably didn't have, something that would equalize the odds, especially if he was frail, untested, hesitant about his odds taking on an assailant in an empty train car with no one else around to help, something that he was banned from carrying on a CTA train. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away - more so in the Mass Transit Unit.
But Mope-rah doesn't make that leap, probably for the same reason the stranger turned away from a criminal act in his presence. You can almost feel the inner-conservative begging to come out of Mope-rah's shadow. Maybe one day....

Heh...
It was pretty damned funny reading Moperah's column...
We heard her hip crack like a big tree branch as she juked, stutter-stepped and all but turned herself inside out to avoid mentioning the obvious...
3000 some CTA security cameras are no substitute for the 3000+ Policemen who have been made to disappear over the last decade and a half...
Bring back the CTA Decoy Units...
A few righteous beatings, maimings and killings by The Police will go a long way toward flushing most of the criminal element out of the electric sewer that is CTA rapid transit.
Of course, you know Mistuh Shitbird just gotta be a hard-head, defiant/non-compliant jury of one m/fer when caught en flagrante doing the rape-rob-steal-point a gun thingy by The Police.
Apparently the public has the appetite for seeing video footage of some poor soul being bent over and having their innie forcibly turned into an outie at gun/knife point.
Let alone being slapped in the eye and having their electronic buzzy-blinkly talking thingy snatched from their hands.
C'mon Moperah!
Say it!
"Rahm! You need to stop playing games with citizen safety and hire a few thousand more cops."
Instead of burning money to "prove"
the city is "broke" to avoid making that $600 Million
pension payment.
Do it Moperah.
It's your duty as a guardian of the public
trust...
>Snicker!<
The cad was likely Unarmed, Out of Shape, and Untrained. Should he have at least tried to call for help? Yes. But we are also told to not get involved.
"Mope-rah doesn't describe the age or condition of the "failed" hero."
Entirely possible the guy was young and healthy but had a warrant out on him and wasn't going nowhere near no po-lice type situation.
Just another possibility...
Guy couldn't even be bothered to call 911. Coward.
Gee Moperah, what's the problem? By turning around and leaving, that person kept a (potentially) black or brown person out of The White Man's racist criminal justice system.
Even a frail person can hit the emergency button before he bails out.
Mary Bitchell is a liar & an idiot! Why she has a public voice is beyond me! I don't wish ill on people but since she isn't human I hope she dies a horrible & painful death! With any luck the lies your allowed to publish will punch your ticket to hell!
This is the likely scenario:
The "witness" was white & the rapist was black. The white guy watches the news & sees what happens when a white guy lays hands on a black person........
Reap what you sow......... this is our new society
Mass Transit is a joke of a unit. Total waste of manpower tackling smoking on platforms, graffiti and other nonsense. People get robbed and raped all the time. Patterns on almost all train lines etc. They work cush hours and never address real issues.
Maybe if the unconcerned citizen had been lawfully armed while on public transportation he/she/it would've felt like the playing field were more even.
Maybe if the victim herself had been armed....oh, wait, in Illinois even law-abiding citizens with concealed carry permits are not allowed to carry guns on the CTA.
Two years ago, I was on my bike when just south of the Harrison Red Line station, I heard screaming. I thought it was the usual after school kid noise prevalent in the vicinity of schools. In reality, two jerks had snatched a woman's cell phone. Maybe it was my old South Side instincts about honor and what my high school priests had drummed into me about always trying to do the right thing or maybe it was simply a reaction to the thugs who seem to infest our streets in greater numbers every year.
Whatever the reason, I cornered one of the thieves and with the help of another man we held onto him until the tac guys showed up. Of course, he had tossed the cellphone as well as his back pack and was screaming that we had assaulted him. When that didn't work, he began yelling to a black woman who looked out her window at the commotion that "he was just trying to feed his family,"
I rode away after the police arrived for the simple reason that I didn't wish to become the new George Zimmerman. I am sure this honor student has been plying his trade since that day and will probably move onto bigger and better endeavors.
I am not a gun owner nor a justice seeker and at the time, I was sixty-six and rode for another twenty miles after the incident.
Despite the cast of self-serving thieves who control our city, we as citizens sometimes need to do the right thing.
Failing to do anything to help a woman being attacked on the "L" is despicable on any level.
Concealed carry not allowed on public transit. Open season! I say we rename these areas, public hunting areas! Just like the DNR does.
She has no room to talk.
If her "community" of African Americans did the right thing my clearance rate would be about 80%.
Her and her "no snitching" nieces and nephrews can suck it.
That's the world they like to live in.
It is absolutely criminal that we cannot carry our CCW on the CTA, where it is certainly needed.
We still have a mass transit unit? I work in 001 and mass transit is completely useless. Never available, even during rush hour. Only time you hear them is when the request a car from district to do paper.
Maybe the "failed hero" knew the rapist?
Who knows? Who cares? All I know is that if I get on the train or bus, and some shit is going down - I'm leaving.
That asshole could have friends, and I'm not supposed to be armed so fuck it. I'm not getting involved in some nonsense - I've seen too many good guys over the years (even some black belts) try to help, get grabbed from behind by some accomplice and end up a vegetable because of a blood clot to the brain.
The people got what they elected - Politicians who steal the money, restrict gun rights, enable criminals, fire cops, and install do-nothing cameras that often don't work. It's not called Chiraq for nothing.
My personal preference for Self Defense is Gel Pepper Spray,Ive broken up Gang fights by myself with one Blast,Tasers have never worked for me.
How many Cops can we hire with a quarter tax on a six pack of beer ? Say a dime on every 40 ounce, etc.Let's do it and put some Cops back on the trains, and on the platforms.
SCC-Please check out the article by the NRA-ILA regarding "off-limits" areas NOT covered by HR 218/LEOSA. It appears to be an active/retired peace officer''s nightmare and a tort lawyer's dream. After the Baltimore DA's actions-anything could happen.

I'm not advocating for mass transit, but you do realize that the reason this guy was caught was because he was observed smoking on a CTA platform, right?
Suntimes should investigate the shootings , victim out late at night , what no job to go to , free welfare from city ,state and federal government . It would be interesting to also study how many offenders are receiving money from the working tax payer . Boston bomber did , bet a lot of chi town gang bangin , drug dealin , shooters are being payed by our government that is generous with the working mans tax dollars .

Carry anyway. If you are in a situation where your life/safety is threatened, use it and come out alive. Deal with the legal bullshit later. NOBODY has the right to say you can't protect yourself/family when traveling and minding your own business.
Some years ago a, whore took a john into an alley behind my building at 3 am, where the pimp robbed him at knifepoint. John started screaming for help, woke me up. I looked out the window and shouted, "cut his balls off."
I would have walked too in your town.
Where's Bernie Goetz?♠️
Rapper aka thug jays wiring thousands to bail out anti-police protesters him and his beastly wife can rot! Hope police never waste money on this racist bigot!

It's so strange how "no snitching" now is correlated with her "community" of African Americans doing the right thing as if that's the reason Hizzoner was never indicted. I'm sure you are happy to inform your supervisor every time you see someone do something inappropriate or outside of the regulation on a call.

stop hating, mass transit like the airports and every district is critically low that's your answer! Critical units low, what can you expect? This is what happens when you shuffle money from the people that actually deserve service (taxpayers) to the illegals and link card holders that have no respect for police! Then they deny the billions they have misappropriated, is not available to fund the pension plans for the show us our money ladies and gentlemen show us the 550 million due in December that would be 2015 "Change we can believe in."

Wow. They still have Mass Transit Unit? Never seen them respond to any calls on El or busses. Must all be downtown.
125 po's in mass transit?? How many does new york have?? I don't think they get cars...
The new normal...
Nobody is safe.
Perhaps that's a good thing.
People who never had to face danger
are now finding themselves eyeball to
eyeball with it.
3000+ cameras to take the place of some of the
3000+ Coppers who have gone bye-bye over the last
15 years or so...
The witness turned up at A/N with his lawyer. It turns out he is a concealed carry citizen and was carrying when he boarded that train. Said he made a split second reasoning that he would be charged if he got involved. Didn't want to be a test case or made an example of by rahm. It did bother him that he didn't do anything but self preservation kicked in
4:52pm...They guy was detained my the k9 security guys....NOT MASS TRANSIT who were no where to be found as usual.
We still have a mass transit unit? I work in 001 and mass transit is completely useless. Never available, even during rush hour. Only time you hear them is when the request a car from district to do paper
So is the 1st district. Thats why 9 of u guys bailed to mass 3 years ago.But let me inform u since u are a ball of fire in !st dist and didn t have a chance to read directives. Mass transit is a supplemental unit and they don t have to do reports. Because GEORGUS has them on fixed post on the RED south most of the days with his missions most are not available. With manpower shortage ur lucky if u have 4 teams working on a given day, and none have cars.New York has 4000 in their unit, chicago 130..for 3 watches counting TAC and the DOGS.Do the math SUPERCOP.

Smart man!
He did what was right to protect himself from Rahm & McIdiot's wretched "Only Criminals Can Carry Guns Here" ordinances.
Fuck all these fools yelling about "helping that poor woman."
If she were vested in her own safety, she would've likely had a weapon herself.
Every living ass is now in danger and it's a good thing.
This is what happens in Chiraq.
The police decoys were very easy to see that they were decoys. Post signs advising not to sit in a car alone, sit by the alarm, always be aware of your surroundings, and what ever else a safety expert can advise.
