- A fond farewell or a major mayor payback?
A longtime vocal critic of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Ald. Bob Fioretti (2nd) sharply raised eyebrows in the mayoral race when he endorsed the man he repeatedly warned the city not to support.
Fioretti did so after his failed bid in the first-round mayoral race.
Now, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned that the mayor will be featured as the “special guest” at a Thursday fundraiser for Fioretti at Manny’s Deli where tickets cost $200 to $10,000. Also listed as hosts: Ald. Ed Burke and Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. The event at Manny’s Deli is billed as a retirement party of sorts.
We'll always remember Bob, first and last, as a tool. A guy who ran as a semi-legit critic of Rahm and could have ridden off into the sunset as just that. But then after weeks of saying he'd support a consensus candidate against Rahm and the Machine following the primary, he showed his true colors and endorsed the carpetbagger. We fully expect Bob to go back to his old lawyer-ly ways making a buck suing the city.

Rahm, Fioretti and Burke all in the same place? Maybe we can hope for a Nepal Quake aftershock to collapse the building on all of them.

Just read article is today's sun-times,seems ald cardenas wants to tax all suburbanites who work in the city for using infrastructure, great idea then the suburbs could do the same George! many of us work in the suburbs,shop in the burbs, I always get gas in the burbs to avoid the high sales tax!
Why not tax the beaches,Parks, etc. you know Chicago residents free, like in the suburbs you pay extra to use their recreational facilities do that here, you could easily raise millions,and since its a use tax you would not put extra strain on dwindling margins of business owners what do you think George?
As long as the sheeple are given an illusion of choice, they will never know the difference.

Bob Fioretti was treated like garbage by the CTU who refused to support him because he isn't a minority. Fact. He wouldn't have run if he knew that in advance. Then, the gutless FOP refused to endorse anyone instead of giving the support to Fioretti, the only pro cop guy in the race. They were afraid to support Bob giving the votes to stand up don't shoot fantasy candidate Garcia who is the father of an active gang banger who wants to blame the police for everything. What do you expect Fioretti to do? He got bsck stabbed, lied to and everything else. If you lose your pensions, you now the reason why. Lack of guts.

Anyone who thought or thinks that this snake is pro-police, is a damn fool. He is a lying, two-faced hack who will pander to his audience of the moment. After talking with him in a social setting a few years ago, I got to hear all about how much he "loves" the police. Of course he had no idea I was on the job. My, how all the "love" flowed. NOT endorsing him for mayor is literally the only thing our current FOP has done right.
Rahm will call his friends from big business and tell them to come/donate if they want to continue to do business with the city.
By the end of the year Fioretti will be appointed to some Board that will have control over millions of tax dollars
