Time to Fence Off Englewood
- A bullet shattered the window of an ambulance as paramedics were working on a patient Sunday evening in the West Englewood neighborhood.
The ambulance, operated by the Chicago Fire Department, was shot about 5:40 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Bishop, according to fire department spokesman Will Knight.
The bullet shattered the driver’s-side window, and a large caliber slug was found in the cab portion of the ambulance, the statement said. Two paramedics were treating a patient in the back at the time of the shooting, the statement said. No one was shot.
So if the paramedics feel unsafe (provably unsafe), and refuse to go into what is essentially a combat zone, we imagine the outcry would be rather large. But really, can you blame them? We expect this sort of thing and train for it, but paramedics and firefighters? They're there to attempt to save lives.

During the King riot in 1968 the firemen were better armed then the police. That was a different time when police and fire worked together on security issues. Prior to the strike in the 80's that's the way it was and fire houses were supplied ammo by coppers.
Must be a new trend since this the 2nd ambulance shot up in the last couple of weeks. If that doesn't say something about "Chiraq", I don't know what does.

I started my career in Englewood 28 yrs ago and nothing has changed its probably even worse nowhere it was back then. Here is my suggestion how about we drop a bomb on Englewood instead of fencing it off the fine citizens would find a way to climb over that. Chiraq doomed !

Jitney cab rides are bound to let more of them bleed out on the way. This reduces the cost of treating them and cuts the population of disabled on public assistance.

Maybe CFD can make ambulances out of those armored carriers that Obummer doesn't want CPD to have? To keep the paramedics safe, the public would have to load the injured into the back of the carrier and then once the bulletproof rear door went down, the paramedics could come out of the cab and treat the injured...
As an aside, they could use the extra armored carriers for food deliveries - build a money/food trap in the side that's bulletproof, and everyone wins...
Neighborhood gets the service it wants, and no one gets shot...

Recently, the NYPD was checking out call box alarm in Harlem, get mobbed by feral hood roaches and they left without making an arrest.

Wait university of Chicago hospital is close, Michelle Obama have a $300,000+ job there (now off the books), they talk about the poor so does rahms huge equipped hospital but no trauma care? Guess they don't want to take care of the neighborhood people, kinda racist slant? Why are the reverends not constantly marching? People are dying and conditions get worse the longer ride to the hospital in the sick truck! Where is the city council on this travesty of injustice?

Take them to Roseland, where ER staff -- even though being smack dab in the middle of Bulletland -- has no idea about how to recognize or treat a head injury.
