- City officials have suspended operations of the Safe Streets anti-violence program in East Baltimore after police officers found seven guns and drugs stashed inside the Monument Street office.
Police said a robbery investigation led them to the office, and two employees were among those arrested. The suspension sidelines the program's work in East Baltimore at a time when gun violence has been spiking.
Safe Streets, a grant-funded program under the city's Health Department, uses ex-felons in an effort to stem crime. The program has been lauded for keeping violence at a minimum in the four neighborhoods where it operates, and some officials have urged its replication across the city.
The program has had trouble in the past, with offices previously suspended in 2010 and 2013 amid criminal allegations against employees. It has also faced criticism over its recruiting practices.
Seems like everywhere someone is trying to "turn their life around," guns and drugs keep popping up. It must be some sort of conspiracy or something.

This scam has been going on since the days of the Black P-Stone Mighty Morphin Power Ranger Nation of El-Rukn....whatever... I believe they conned gullible foundations out of grant money to "help disadvantaged youths" and what-not. Plus guns and drugs for themselves.
Most likely someone has a Confederate flag hidden away somewhere and that is what is causing all the troubles. They find that flag, and suddenly everything will be sweetness and buttercups.
Too crazy to shut this blind pig down. Just shut it down, throw everyone out, nail the door shut.

The only time these losers turn their lives around is when the detectives flip their dead bodies.
Lets not bad mouth all ex felons until we have the full picture, all the facts are known and the investigation is complete. POTUS himself has recently said their are too many people in prison that don't belong there and don't deserve being there.
Your definition of what "turning your life around" is obviously influenced by your personal surroundings. It's personal experience that brings meaning to the words.
What did you expect people to turn their lives around with a job in corporate America -- with a part-time, temporary , min wage job?
Don't ruin your career kids, in five years they may put you in charge of the drive up window.

They're running guns to Mexico and importing the drug mules. El Chapo is large and in charge in Chicago and the mayor can't turn down the money that flows into the city from it.

A good copper can meet his own eyes in the bathroom mirror every AM for 30 years and be OK with what he sees. It is called "integrity." It is a rock to stand on, and there is no substitute.
This goes on independently of all the Ryans and Blagojeviches going in and out of prison, as the Emanuels and Rauners make billion-dollar deals at their $100,000/year "private wine clubs," as the Stephanie Rawlings-Blakes and Marilyn Mosbys get half their city burned down and looted -- and independently of all the Communist agitators and parasites who make a fine living from endlessly suing the city.
What a shame to reach senescence without ever having been a man.
And we think this city is fucked up. It is, big time. But Baltimore is one of the most screwed up cities run by the most incompetent people in the world. In fact that should be their motto. Welcome to Baltimore, the most messed up city in the world. How would you guys like to be the police in Baltimore? Can you imagine what that must be like? Shit.
