Um...Qualifications Please?
This "reverend" was the first to endorse Rauner, so it looks exactly like what it is - a payoff:
- Corey Brooks, the “Rooftop Pastor” from Chicago’s South Side who endorsed Republican Bruce Rauner for governor, now has a paid appointed position with the Rauner administration.
Gov. Rauner’s office on Friday announced Brooks, senior pastor at New Beginnings Church, will be a director on the Illinois Tollway Board, the Downers Grove-based authority that controls toll roads.
Brooks was among a group of African-American religious leaders in Chicago who backed Rauner, a wealthy businessman, over incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn, saying Democrats had taken black political support for granted.
And this qualifies him for the job how?

You can say that about every single administration ever in Illinois. Friends and relatives always share in the booty. Don't act so indignant.
Just as Claypool is the most qualified to run the CPS. Now pull my finger!
Had a blast at this years F.O.P. Picnic. It was nice that they added a second pony to the pony ride this year.
Rumor from HQ ..hiring a class of 20 E.Ts and a class of 50 sgts starting in August. I hope all those merit hacks put in their packets because the city is supposed to be hiring 60 percent merit for the Sgt class
One hand washes the other in the crooked city. This seems like it could be straight out of the wire.
It isn't even hidden anymore. These politicians just throw it in your face. So Rauner goes to Springfield to clean it up as he said in his campaign speeches. Looks like same game, with a few new faces.
Nothing in life is fair which this isn't, however the friendship between the two men lead to support and trust...soooooo, just like the Demorats...the bond was sealed and the job became available...its been done thousands of times in this state for generations. Nothing to see here...it'll continue forever.
I want that TRANSPARENCY everybody promised me. Governor, explain what qualifies this man for this job.
Qualifications?
Let's go down EVERY Board member of EVERY Illinois Board - especially the ones that pay well.
The "common" high qualification that distinguishes every one of these board members? CLOUT.
SCC, do you REALLY think there are any selections based on qualifications going on? In Illinois?? Are you practicing a stand-up routine for Zanies?
“This appointment will give me an opportunity to make sure that African Americans have a seat at the table and are afforded the opportunities to get jobs and state contracts and the goal of diversification is met,” Brooks said in a posting on Facebook.
TRANSLATION: I have studied the Machine Politics Playbook and have successfully deployed the strategy of hustling votes in exchange for jobs.
Meet the new boss...same as the old boss
"And this qualifies him for the job how?"
Tollway Board gonna hold its corporate meetings on the roof of an abandoned, deteriorating motel now.
Need the "rev"'s particular expertise here.
"Qualifications?"
Well, he fleeced the hell out of his "flock", now he's going to fleece the hell out of the Toll Way system.
How many Directors of the Toll Way system have went to prison in the past 10 years or so?
Do you think this one will be any different?
To answer your question, "Who cares?"
The YouTube video interview with Disability Dean is much more important and relevant to us. Where's that post?
WTF
It takes a million just to buy a bond
Generally the big wigs are representatives of the insurance groups big business and the like
This is a sweetheart deal
I'm guessing he's getting a six-figure salary?
I heard when he was on the roof, he survived on Nestle Tollway cookies, making him an expert. See? Easily explained. Wait, a sec...I think we've got something fishy here. I think Bruce traded political favors for a job with Corey. I'm surprised this happens in such a well managed state like Illinois
Payback time. More to come.
No keeses here.
and we are shocked by this why? disgusting.
It always works that way. Once in office, you take care of your friends.
I'm sorry to be this way but....how in the hell does being a rooftop pastor qualify one to be in charge of tolls? Because he could sift money from the collection plate ......c'om on. He should be running for mayor cause that's how tricky Dick and Rahmboni did it. They sifted money from pension payments to do special projects.
Dyla Hata
And this qualifies him for the job how?
I thought being a black religious leader in Chicago, let alone Illinois, qualified you for any thing.
And what exactly were the qualifications, ever? Seems to me that board was entirely made up of clouted individuals, forever. Brooks doesn't have a (D) after his name, at least.
The tollway board has been a place for Republicans to stash friends and families for years. A little "diversity" doesn't hurt either
I don't understand why you don't understand this. Camping on a roof, Director of Illinois Tollway Board? Sounds reasonable to me. I'll bet the tollway will be a pleasure to use now.
The Chicago way
is that the "goof on the roof?"
that's talent right there ... hire him
I'm sure this is just a Ko-Inky -Dink.....
What qualifies anyone for any politically appointed position in this state? I think if you went down the line and checked qualification of past and present appointees you would not find much difference
so actually there is no real difference between Rep or Demo, except the rhetoric
oh how I wish we could do something like this
http://www.leoaffairs.com/featured/oklahoma-police-department-resigns-in-protest-of-city-council-interference/
I remember this publicity hound. Putting up a tent in the middle of winter on top of a roof of a building he wanted to buy and convert into a facility for disadvantaged youth. Inviting all of the media to discuss all of the reasons why there is so much violence in the black community. The national media was there on top of a building he was raising money for. He pleaded "the youth in our community needs activity to keep themselves busy". The answer is always the same; we need more money. Mo money.
Gee Rauner is great. Way better than Quinn. He's fixing the state and promised not to change police or fire pensions. My whole family voted for him.
I laughed my ass off at all the Rauner voters at roll call last night when I brought this up.
"But he said he wouldn't fuck with our pension."
Goofs.
I would love to see Brooks' resume. Red or blue all these politicians are scum.
Different asshole, same stench.
Unbelievable! But then again what were Garry's qualifications to become head of CPD? Clouted up the ass in New York and running the Newark Police Department which is about the size of Rockford if not smaller. And those qualifications got us into this mess. Good luck toll way authority!
Uh, isn't there a clause in our government about separation of CHURCH and STATE? I do not care if he is not preaching while he is working for the toll road, he is a PREACHER!!! He also received it through political means this cannot be tolerated! I believe Bruce Rauner is a good choice for Illinois however, Cory needs to "do the right thing" just like his boy Spike Lee says.
He is as qualified as all the rest of the hand picked POS that get appointed to all the BS boards.
Blago took care of who he wanted to. Quinn did the same. As did Edgar, Ryan and Thompson.
It goes with winning.
HOLY F*CK! They better watch all the "loose change" because he's one greedy MF'er!!!
Bruce, Bruce, Bruce *sigh* hahaha you don't know what can of s*it you've opened. Let's see how this plays out within 5-7 yrs hahaha

Well, yeah, you could even call it seven figures if you count the zeroes behind the decimal point. It's $31,426.00
All I can say is Have a blessed day.
For black Chicago profiteers, being a pastor is the same thing as attending University of Chicago for white people. Opens a lot of doors for profit by $erving the public. But What Would Jesus Think? http://windycityteachers.blogspot.com/2015/06/wwjt-of-pastor-corey-brooks.html
This is the type of lower level corruption I can handle.
We need to find people who know how to win elections - we can't get anything done if we don't win elections.
Can you say corruption Mr. Rauner? Not really shaking things up.
While this will probably get lost in the annals of SCC, I had to mention it, nonetheless.
How did the former CPD,ever be given the job as Director of Security for the Illinois Tollway Authority?
Look him up.
On the job, he couldn't find a used car lot on Western Avenue.
these are political appointments and are supposed to go to people who have no expertise. other wise you have the fox watching the hen house.
