The City posted District openings Friday.
The sergeants have 57 openings - every district except 015 and 017.
The Patrol Division has exactly 10 openings, all in 003.
What a joke.

The CPD is almost up to full strength. This is good news.
So no other district is low on manpower except for 003?...hard to believe.

And meanwhile, we hover near 160 officers. Used to be around 200, a few years ago. Was in excess of 300 15 years ago. Retirements, promotions and bidding out has stripped us of our manpower. Meanwhile, 14 years get you midnights. Shut up about bid somewhere you can get a better furlo and watch, the damn district I work in is down near 50% in manpower now. I get a summer furlo and a watch I want, the new guys are fucked, year after year.
Anyone who bids to that hell hole needs their head examined. I have never in my career seen a building filled with so many morons. My team cringes when we get deployed there!

Shocking, special ed lied at the community meeting where he said "trust me, 016 is getting many more officers". Zero openings since that statement.

Hand carry your 003 Bid to FOP & MLAS, don't risk it.
Are they shifting around the Sgts to give the Merits some relief, will some Merits be hush-hush detailed out so it won't be so obvious or did they over staff the Merits and they're tripping over one another for some radio time?
Certainly looks like they won't be promoting anymore Sgts if they have to level the playing field.

It's sad that the poor citizens of 003 don't have enough police. They need 10 officers to get up to full strength like the rest of the districts.
Ok, now that the jokes are out of the way, I'll be serious. If we all know that pretty much every district is short on manpower, and the department says the are only 10 openings, all in 003, where they most likely need at least 3-4 times that number, what does that tell you about the rest of the districts? Where do they actually come up with these numbers? These aren't vacancy numbers. These are fake vacancy numbers to attempt to justify a manpower shift to the most shorthanded ghetto district. "Oh, there are no openings in any good districts? I guess I'll bid to 003 since it's closer to home." Fuck that. Why can't the union force the city to post actual vacancy numbers? Shouldn't union members be able to bid to any district that has an actual shortage of officers?

If we're down this many sgts, shouldn't they make a class of 60? Nah, that makes too much sense.

Officers wondering why they can't bid into the nice Districts. Officers wondering how short on Officers the nicer Districts are and wondering why there are never vacancies in the nicer District. Officers wondering why they can't get out of the ghetto Districts. Here is your fucked up answer boys and girls. Class 15-1 just got off of PPO status. 82 PPOs assigned to their respective Districts a few days ago. Check out these numbers of some of the nicer Districts
008- 8 new Officers fresh off their status
009- 4 new Officers fresh off their status
012- 3 new Officers fresh off their status
016- 6 new Officers fresh off their status
017- 6 new Officers fresh off their status
019- 10new Officers fresh off their status
025- 7 new Officers fresh off their status
That's a total of 44 out of 82 PPOs that got assigned to the nicest Districts in the City. That is so fucked yo it's not even funny, I have been on this job 10 years and I'm no where close to being able to get out of the ghetto. There are many Officers like myself who are stuck in the ghetto because there are no fucken openings. There are no fucken openings because Officers who have 18 months on this fucken job are getting assigned to 009,012,016,017 & 025. This hardly seems fair, fuck you and your fucken activity on this unfair Department.
Does anyone know if there is a way to stop this? Let's the Veteran Officers who have 10 years on this job be able to bid to these Districts and put the rookies in the ghetto not in 012,016,017 & 025

the station and those running it yes. some of the most beautiful lake front views and property in the city.
Look at how many police officers are assigned to inside spots , phony foot , ghost beat cars in 003

I believe last month the department posted 10 openings in 3 and 10 openings in 7. Some people bid to 7 but no one bid to 3. I'm with the earlier poster here.......send the PPO's to the 3rd district not to the "nicer" districts. That's just bad for the already depleted morale on this job.
I knew they would simply fill nice districts with ppos. Complete b.s and yet our union will do nothing. Bidding out of a distinct should not take 10 years. So done with this department.

Thank you, seriously. I live there and am usually pissed off at the lack of coverage and officers who believe in protecting the homeland. It's not suppose to be a retirement home, not while the amish keep showing up.
