Riots at the Jail

  • Three inmates and a jail deputy were taken to area hospitals after a fight at the Cook County Jail division that houses the facility’s youngest and most violent inmates, officials said.

The fight started between two inmates at Division 9 in the jail about 4 p.m., according to statements emailed from the Cook County sheriff’s office. Other inmates joined the fight, with one using what sheriff’s officials believe was a pen or another writing instrument to injure three other inmates, according to the statement.
An e-mailer says that the Teamsters are going to call on Dart to resign shortly as he has been short-staffing the jail, politicizing videos to demean and endanger officers, and pretty much being an all-around dick.

The fights in the jail would stop immediately if overwhelming force was used on those causing the disturbance, instead of worrying about bruised egos of the prisoners.

When is the media going to look at the sheriffs office? It has three times the number of command staff as CPD and a fraction of the people.

After the Dallas OIS. local media interviewed this imbecile? What does a political hack know about "real police" work? He only started carrying a sidearm when CCW was passed since he had to deny some of the applications. His membership in the 19th Ward democrats is the ONLY reason he was coronated sheriff. He places dangerous offenders on electronic monitoring and subsequently looses them. He coddles the inmates while mistreating the Officers and staff. And now he wants to run for mayor?

Correct me if I'm wrong, if Dart puts his name on the mayoral ballot. Doesn't he have to resign from being Sheriff? Or will they change the rules for him also

Hey would have to resign only if he wins the Mayors election. The elections are at different years and if he loses he could still stay as Sheriff. So he really has nothing to lose.
