- The bond set for Ja'Mal Green, an activist who was arrested over the weekend, is too high and the charges against him are meant to "send a message," said community and family members during a news conference Tuesday morning at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Bail was set at $350,000 for Green, who is charged with five felony counts: two of aggravated battery to a police officer, two of aggravated battery in a public place and one of attempting to disarm a police officer, according to a statement from Chicago police. Green was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of resisting/obstructing arrest.
Um, Ja'mal caught five felonies. $350K isn't out of line.
- Eric Russell, a community activist who has represented a number of families with relatives killed by police, said Green is a "political prisoner" and the target of a vendetta because of his advocacy work.
A political prisoner would be someone like Mandela or Gandhi. Green is a loud-mouthed attention-seeker who spit on a cop, punched another and tried to disarm a third.
- Tio Hardiman, president of Violence Interrupters, said community advocates are petitioning for a reduced bond.
"This young man is a standup individual in the community at a much-needed time in our history in the United States," Hardiman said. "The police cannot continue to get away with abusing our people."
So his bail should have been more in line with, say, Tio's for wife beating? And guess who didn't set the bail there Tio? The cops. Bail would be set by the Honorable Peggy Chiampas, and actually, she has to follow a set of rules put in place by the Chief Judge....a set of rules routinely ignored by too many judges.

Edville's policy is to appease the protesters -- strip police officers even though they are in compliance with department policy. Edville appeases the protesters by supposedly talking them down before they start a protest: Protesters post on social media that they just got off the phone with Edville, revealing inside information before it is published. Edville has intimated his concern is to avoid the protests from getting out of hand, so let's appease the protesters.
However, this time, the 20-year-old snot nosed punk protester punched Commander Devereaux, who makes whale shit seem like butterfly droppings, a boss who is superintendent material only for his skin color, a boss who worked in units and actually was the police, a boss who is commander of 018 a district filled with some of the richest and most politically connected people in the city. And all the officers dealing with that 20-year old punk were probably wearing body cameras, capturing the whole incident on video. The ASA literally had no choice but to approve felony charges, unlike the last protester on whom the felony charges were dropped the day after being approved due to political pressure.

Black Lives Matter movement - has four basic objectives with respect to diminishing law enforcement. They want to disenfranchise the law enforcement from the community. They want to defund law enforcement. They want to diminish their involvement in the community and their stature, and they want to basically dissolve law enforcement.
And the reason is because police officers are protectors of the rule of the law, and the Black Lives Matter movement is a black nationalist revolutionary Marxist movement that is tied into a much larger international movement referred to as One World One Struggle.

Easy to say, but not so easy to do. The internet has been fairly well sanitized of the truth about Nelson Mandela. It isn't politically correct to talk about him as being a terrorist, but that's what he was first jailed for, not civil disobedience (which sounds so much more endearing)

When you're people are charged with violating the law it's called racism. The kkk and arian nation are racist. The black peace stone nation and black panthers are racist. The police are labeled racist only because they arrest your people at a much higher rate when reality they are merely responding to their total disregard for the laws of the land your people exhibit. If you want your people to be treated like the white man tell them they need to act like the white man. A good first step in achieving this would be to obey the laws of the land and forget about the law of the jungle. Every single police shooting of your people in the past year could have been avoided if the subjects merely recognized the police as an authority and obeyed their orders. This fact is overlooked to carry on your excuse for the inability of your people to conform with the laws of the land and continue with your racist police bullshit narrative.

Mandela was not a "terrorist". He was only called that by his enemies, who ran a segregationist government called Apartheid, which was nowhere near being a democracy. If the word "terrorist" existed in 1776, George Washington, Ben Franklin, the Adams', Jeffersons, Madison, Hamilton, Hancock, and all the signers of the Declaration of Independence would all have been called terrorists by the British back then, as our Founders were bucking the "legitimate government" of the time.
In the USA, we have a black president, a black US Attorney General (the 2nd one), a black US Supreme Court Justice, we've had/have black US Representatives and Senators, black Chiefs of Police, black mayors, black business executives, black CEOs, black teachers, black firemen, black policemen, black doctors, black nurses, .... blacks have opportunities in this country..... today's USA is nothing like Apartheid. Leave Mandela out of this.

Second poster, I don't blame you for NOT KNOWING Mandela's history, but that first poster is NOT way off base.
Back when the news could be trusted, before the internet corrupted it, the truth about Mandela was more available. I'm not saying he didn't evolve, but you apparently know HALF the truth about him.
