Shooting at the Chicago Police smacks of the start of a low level insurgency against the powers that be. If this behavior is not stopped (put down harshly) it will embolden the bad guys to escalate things and Chicago will have a low level war.

There was a piece on TV last night about Camden NJ police de-escalation. Apparently they now require that armed offenders shoot first before officers can fire.
What is Eddie Johnson doing about this? NOTHING. How about start making every unit 2 man cars again, and taking useless people behind the desk who wear stars and make them work the street... But nothing will happen until one of our own are killed, then SPECIAL ED will get in front of the cameras and blame it on repeated gun offender laws.
When you see Ed in the media about the war on police he seems puzzled and says he's "concerned".
He can't be that dense to not realize that his heavy handed incompetence, along with his and Rahm's incessant pandering to "the community" while repeatedly driving the bus over CPD......that right there is a huge part of the problem Ed.
How about publicly calling out "the community".... you know the ones responsible for over 90% of the city's violence issues? C'mon Ed you can do it...... oops I forgot that with Rahm's hand inserted in your back your mouth can only say certain scripted things.

Leave it to WGN to pad the video they had of the actual shooting scene, to include the suspect being led away, with some extra video that was clearly shot over the summer at some other incident.
It showed a bunch of officers standing around in short sleeve shirts and a few that were wearing shorts. Regular media's death spiral is quickening.

I agree 100% but the fetal political masters and liberal/progressive politics will prevent this form happening.
Well over 700 dead and officers being shot at regularly. How do we fix this?
Let's make sure we cover "the Wire" at roll call and lets try to get our officers to generate some more activity. That'll fix everything right?
The complete and utter stupidity of our command staff leaves me just shaking my head just like when I watch a video of some idiot who is about to do something incredibly stupid and is surprised when he gets hurt. Except here on the CPD the citizens and officers are the ones getting hurt and the supt just goes on the news and repeats "this is unacceptable" over and over but does nothing but continue to do the same stupid shit.
How about addressing that little problem of how people keep trying to kill your officers Mr. Ed?

(OT) Oh No looks like a backstabbing Lt in 050 (The Irish kid) is sending letters about his plans to save the city money are getting him in trouble. Say it ain't so sending letters to the mayor,finance dept etc telling all how he has a plan to save the city money by cutting police personnel at the airports. Is he in the group while dragging the other lt in 051 down with him. The airports just had a boost in manpower now this guy is doing anything and everything to make the commander look like shit along with his buddy in 051! Hey boss your a great guy please "take charge" and show these people their place. Years ago if another boss under the commander did this shit they would be gone,please be careful commander the snakes are nice to your face but wow are they digging in! 30+ year vet!

I am working right now, these new fancy phones are great for computer access! That guy has decided he will do whatever is necessary to become commander,even use any method including undermining the current commander who is a nice guy! We have the Lt here like the coppers in 051 have that Lt who does whatever she can to take money out of coppers pockets! Like the Irish kid they are both wealthy and have no clue how the regular hardworking coppers do finacially! Hey boss maybe time to step up and assert yourself! Say what you want about Jimmy carroll he was a stand up guy,and only helped coppers,if he was undermined the bosses would have hell to pay!!

I understand your statement but some people belong behind the desk, handing out radios. Every district has at least one person that you are glad they are handing out radios, etc. because they can't be trusted in an emergency situation. It is disgusting out there and is only gonna get worst. Please don't put yourself in situations which could be avoided. Handle your jobs, the powers that be have handcuffed so until they take them off stay handcuffed.

Please remember, Rahm and Eddie truly believe that it's cheaper to bury a copper than it is to pay the family of someone you shoot defending yourself. They truly do not want you to live through a gunfight. simply put, your better off dead to them.

Lighten up Francis. The poster was talking about an officer safety issue not your ego, so the next time you get your ass handed to you on days I'll be sure to hold your hand all the way to the hospital.
