016 Gets....Rookies?

  • Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson will assign an additional 12 police officers to the Jefferson Park District by the end of the month, fulfilling his September promise to beef up the force, according to Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38th).

A total of 230 officers will report to the city's most expansive police district by year's end, up from 192 over the summer, Sposato said.

The district saw 10 new officers added in October, then another 10 in November, the alderman said. On Tuesday, Johnson told district Cmdr. Bill Looney he'd get another 12 this month.

Johnson "kind of dribbled along with his promise there for a while, but now it's complete," Sposato said. "I'm thrilled, the commander's thrilled. ... This was very much needed."
Well, we're happy for you 016. Anyone have the totals for 008 or 022 now?

Wow I feel so much more safe now.

Will they know the difference between good guys and bad guys.

Or will they be assigned to 016 and detailed out to the rest of the city.

Uh, how many retirements/transfers/promotions out of 016 during that period of time?

That means no openings for the seasoned officers on the next order.

Those 32 bodies won't last long, though it will be nice to have the extra bodies. And how many coppers will be retiring from 016 in order to take advantage of the 55 and out?

008 and 022 aren't on the North side. They won't get shit, especially 022 with their BLM sympathizer alderman. The money is up north, so they get the manpower.

12 new officers.

1 officer x 24 hours per day x 7 days a week = 4.5 FTE positions

Not a huge impact in a big city.

Keep 'em coming to the taxpaying parts of the city. And, by the way, doing a case report, making the notifications, and clearing the body of yet another ghetto homicide does not necessarily make one a seasoned officer. On a side note, after nearly 30 years living in 016, I had the occasion of having to call the police. A sergeant and three beat/rapid cars responded quickly and handled the problem professionally and correctly. Thank you to all the police officers in 016. You are appreciated.

Special Ed dribbled? Reminds me of a Saturday Night Live skit years ago in which Dan Ackroyd wore a "drool bucket" on his face. Get Special Ed a drool bucket!

Bill Looney is a district commander? Of course, why not? The guy hasn't been in a blue and white since he had about two days on the job.

I hate to say it but a body is a body. Yes it would be nice to have veteran officers in 016 but some of those who bid would not want to
Do anything anyways. So I'll take 12 PPO's. Hell at least they won't want to sit in the hole all night and will drive around. Better then what we have on midnights now.

Nice to hear my old stomping grounds will be getting some additional manpower though. When I've seen Jefferson Park mentioned on the local news lately, it's usually had to do with crime. Too bad- nice neighborhood, nice residents.

This is how the city is going to keep the more seasoned officers in the neighborhoods where the alderscum believe they should be. Watch the city will assign the PPOs to the more desirable districts just enough to keep bids from opening up. If the district doesn't have any openings the more seasoned officers can't bid out.

Commander Bill Looney, you have 12 more officers. What about the trailer trucks parked overnight and week-ends at 6530 W, Bryn Mawr by Taft High School?

How about the shortest district, 017-The Red Headed Step Child!? They can barely man the beat cars! Shame on the Greek and the Aldermen for neglecting so badly!

Sure looks good on the Aldermans List of Accomplishments, but we know better.
The DonkeyPunch ONeil HR smoke & mirrors knows that retirements will exceed the frivolous amount of recruits and Bids added to 016 in 2017. There will still be shortages Beatwide. Special Ed is still a LiAR.
By next time this year the total manpower will be lucky if it can make it back to 180.
For trolls, take into account that 30% or more don't work actual Beat Cars.

What this about IAD infiltrating 16? CFD here, IAD looks for a lot of ways to justify their jobs. Don't want them snooping around my hood. If this is true SCC should find out who they are and list their names.

Oh shit! The Greek reads the blog or someone reads it to him and now we'll be either regaled at how well we do or what a bunch of dogs asses we are. Someone called him an asswipe on the blog and he was livid.

There is no sane reason to be proactive on this job. We deal with explosive situations and have to make instant decisions with very few facts at hand and then everyone monday morning quarterbacks us. You over reacted, you used excessive force, you under reacted and on and on. Now, add whopping suspensions, like months and months off without pay, possible termination civil lawsuits and maybe even prosecution with prison time and you wonder why we are reluctant to go the extra measure of action? No one is ever happy with what the police do, someone is always unhappy because they got told they were wrong and that's that.
