- President Barack Obama made his final grants of clemency on Thursday with less than a day left in office, and imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was not on the list.
Blagojevich was handed a 14-year sentence on corruption charges, with one of the most sensational being his attempt to “sell” the U.S. Senate seat that then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama was vacating after being elected president in November 2008.
The Justice Department earlier confirmed that Blagojevich, in year four of his imprisonment, filed a request to have his sentence commuted. He was arrested in December 2008, a few weeks after the presidential election.
The former governor, 60, is not due to get out of prison until 2024.

The pos Obama let's Chelsea Manning out, but not Blago. In March, Blago will have served 5 years of a 15 year sentence. What did Chelsea serve of her 35 year sentence? Three years, if even? Obama has no soul. He should have cut Blago a break. POS Obama proved he is nothing better than a vengeful Chicago politician just like shortshanks, TD 9.5 and many others.

Obama granted various kinds of clemencey to more convicts than any other president. Most were drug offenders but some who really belong locked up. I think we cannot be surprised when we see the uptick in street crime related to drug dealing in many of our cities, including our disaster.
I think you can figure about 8 in 10 will re offend within a year or so and be right back from where they came. So enjoy the Obama gift to us.

Blago had big ego disease that rebelled when he realized that he wasn't really a self made politician.He was a Dick Mell made politician.When he started in politics,he had the look of a deer in the headlights.As he ascended in politics with the help of Mell,he tryed to find his own way with is own buck balls,but found out that the machine will neuter you when there is betrayal done to your political supporters.It looks like blagojevich allowed his ego to get in the way of common sense.You knew it was over when every bridge over the tollways that said Rod blagojevich welcomes you to Illinois signs were taken down.Now,Colorado has welcomed him to their federal prison.From the governor of Illinois to head of the library of prison.Humbling experience,to say the least.He is a smart man,so hopefully if his emotional intelligence has grown,he can be worthy of a pardon from President Trump.After all,Obama just let out numerous drug dealers that were complicent in destroying many lives and families.

Obama did Blago a favor. Trump should threaten Blago with a conditional commutation. Either a one time "come to Jesus" type appearance before a Grand Jury with immunity, or a parole to be served under the thumb of the always delightful former Patty Mell..

Disagree illegal immigrants need to be "legal immigrants" and many make money and send the bulk of it back home. have a neighbor from Mexico told me he sends almost all of his money home, he works for cash gets link that the taxpayers are forced to give him and his family! They also take jobs from American citizens, i know you will say no 1 else will work this cheap, but without them the companies would be forced to pay more and better wages! simple statement "obey the law illegal means just what it says!"

Totally agree. What Blagojevich did was criminal, but his prison sentence was excessive. As stated, his long imprisonment is due, in part, because he represented a threat to Obama. The communications facilitated between the President-elect (with Rahm Emanuel acting as the go between) and the Governor in 2008 were probably inappropriate. Obama whitewashed his transition team's misconduct and Blagojevich was buried alive to keep him from saying otherwise.
The narrative has been changed to Blagojevich trying to sell the appointment to the US Senate vacancy and the maneuvering to mint Valerie Jarrett as Obama's successor in the Senate has long been forgotten. The trouble is that there were contacts between the Obama team and Blagojevich.

So true. Remember former Cook County Treasurer Ed Rosewell? He was a faithful party functionary forever, who won countywide elections repeatedly, and an obvious three dollar bill to anyone who caught his act up close or after hours. His highlight film included a prominent cameo in the Harrison Ford movie "The Fugitive" wear he appeared in the scene filmed at the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Rosewell got sick when a certain immune system disease was not socially acceptable and he was hustled out of town and ignored. He became a nonperson. He passed away in virtual oblivion.
That's like the 3rd or 4th thing Obama has done in the past 10 years with which I agree.

If they were a disappointment or a surprise, then you weren't paying attention. I expected a last minute pardon of epic proportions and that is just what he did. Frankly I thought he would do more but I guess he couldn't write any faster. We all knew he was kind of lazy.
